I almost did it by my own, but go stuck non knowing how to release break line clips, decided to not risk damageing em hece looked here. Very clean and helpful video, thanks lot
Since we don't have our OEM guard any longer, I can't say for sure. But I think because the OEM is plastic and the AltRider guard is aluminum, ours is probably just a little bit heavier. But it is very light to begin with, just over 1 lb (0.45 Kg).
Honestly, I wouldn’t worry about the difference, lol. Put a lithium battery in, (save 2kg) and put a lighter muffler on (save 3kg) and carry less crap on the bike. I sleep in a bivy and tarp for example, 800g, and don’t need poles. Take two packs of dehydrated food, instead of bags of rations. I pack one spare woollen underwear, and only one set of clothes to change in - I don’t use pannier racks, I use soft luggage…
Well.. its thinner and lighter but doesn't protect the bottom of the radiator. Time will tell now its installed. Stay with OEM guard. Thinner and lighter its going to do anything.
@loup207 Thanks for the feedback! Although the bottom edge isn't covered, the entirety of the face is. We considered if we should cover the bottom edge, but ultimately decided it didn't need it. We all know the fins are the most vulnerable and the bottom edge is a small area and if anything did impact it would have such a shallow angle of attack that any damage would be quite unlikely. We're not aware of any instances of our guard failing, but we're always listening for any differing experiences or opinions 👍
Welcome. I figured you all do your home work which is why your product is one of the best. I ended up putting my stock guard back on because it has mud spatter and small dings so it is protecting under the radiator. I may cut it off and zip tie it. Keep on riding!!

Is the altrider radiator guard lighter than the OEM radiator guard?
