This was a great video... I've been watching... single mom moving to Calgary soon, and I've been researching alot.... Sorry about the water bill... i did know about the additional costs (through reddit comments on average utility cost) I did take with a pinch of salt... but it was around 90 to 100 for a townhouse in 2023 so it seems about right...Glad I can update my budget spreadsheet now... thanks, I will check out the internet plan....Congratulations on the job, and I'm thankful God brought me to your page to reassure me that all will be well
It’s your washing machine, dishwashers, showers. And as a homeowner we pay the same. But add to that property taxes. Plus homeowners insurance is very high.
I have been quietly watching your videos for a while now. We (a family of four) just recently received PPR and are planning to settle in edmonton. I like the way you and your husband plan everything ahead. I will be glad to meet you guys someday. Thanks for the videos ❤
Good video, guys!! I live in Toronto, but I'm considering moving to Alberta. Your bills are very affordable. My water bill comes every four months, and it's roughly around 600 to 700. Even your rent is cheap. I pray God continue to bless your family
@@joyandpay that’s nice. We have met a few people who moved from other provinces as well. It seems to be a little easier since you’re already in Canada. Especially if u already have a job. Visiting might also be helpful.
Welcome to Edmonton : )) it is nice to hear your experiences with immigrating here. I 100% agree with you choosing a condo over an apartment, the condo is more ideal in my opinion. I had no idea about Oxio, so thanks for that information. Our gas and power are together on one bill, we live in a duplex condo and are a family of 2 people and it was $178 for August, but we have air conditioning. Our water was $118. I would budget for more on the gas and power for the winter months as it will definitely be more.
Love love your videos , it’s been very helpful with my planning. I would be moving to Edmonton as well sometime in September. Would love to meet you and your family someday 😊
My power bill went up more than double, just to run my AC in my bed room during the heat wave. I have to say it was worth it for me though. 😊 ($120 and I am a single person living alone) also from Edmonton!
Wow you guys pay really good rent there. Rent for me in Vaughan is $3100. (condo, 2 beds, 2 baths) + utilities. Townhouses are way more expensive and the utilities really add up. Love looking at your channel. Best wishes forward... ❤from a Trini
Hey! Great video and welcome to Edmonton! Your bills sound normal…expect to pay an additional $100-$150 over the winter..it just depends on how many sun -35 winter days we have :)
@@ibrahim6960 invest in warm clothes lol Also, consider getting winter tires for your car; we leave a 5cm snowpack, so if you’re not used to driving on that you may have some issues.

This is a really great video. Thank you for putting this out there. My husband just got car insurance here in edmonton and it's over 300. I'd love to know which insurance company you are using. We have a similar driving experience.
It depends on the car as well. If it’s newer and more costly insurance goes up. Other things like adding glass coverage will make the rate go up. Having winter tires may help with discounts. We use cooperators. They were one of the only ones we found that insured newcomers that didn’t have an Albertan license.
I live in Edmonton and the cost for power that you are saying if it's through Epcor is quite normal, before we switched to direct energy our Power and Waste/Water was about $600 in the summer granted we live in a 5 bedroom house that we own, with our Energy and gas now through direct energy it costs us a little over $300 and that's with us running our AC the entire time 24/7. If I could suggest maybe talking to direct energy if you aren't on a contract with Direct energy I would do so, you'd save so much money.
Oh this is mightily helpful. We’re with Xoom energy and definitely will look into comparing rates. I must say though, as a newcomer navigating the different utilities is a quagmire and we mostly depended on a broker to secure good fixed rates.
@@ibrahim6960 I hear you, unfortunately with a broker you can’t be assured that they are getting the best rates either because sometimes they might not know either.
