around 5:13 you get a glimpse of a BUBBLEMAN in the mirror. That was a side project of Love and Rockets. (basically all the same band members in costumes) They had a 12 inch single "The Bubblemen are Coming". You should react to that!
Daniel (guitar) and Kevin (drums) also had a band in 2018 called Poptone. They just formed to tour and there is a live album but no new studio recordings. The shows were fantastic though, I took this at the Portland show in 2018 ruclips.net/video/OR7fWGA9jfI/видео.html
The bassist for Love and Rockets and Bauhaus is David J Haskins. Daniel Ash is the guitarist/vocalist/songwriter/saxophone player for Bauhaus, Tones on Tail and Love and Bauhaus. Kevin Haskins plays drums and synth for all 3 bands.
Bauhaus, Tones On Tail, Love and Rockets, Peter Murphy solo - These entities released some of the most important "alternative" music of the 80s and beyond. So many amazing albums and songs. I mean, I could list like 50 killer, classic songs easily off the top of my head that came from these incredibly talented musicians and their legend will never die.
This song was written about a bar in my town, the walls had mirrors on them. It was the goth/punk hang out. Everyone just sat and stared at themselves looking cool, lol. Daniel was married to a local lass and admitted in interviews it was indeed about this club.
The order the Daniel Ash bands were reacted to is: Bauhaus (Sanity Assassin), Tones on Tail (Performance), then Love and Rockets (for the commentary to make sense).
Cool that you remembered 'So Alive'. The only other song of theirs that reached mainstream radio was the Temptations cover 'Ball of Confusion'. Both versions are worth listening to. As a fan of Motown and Alternative, I know the Love and Rockets version will get panned, but I would ask Motown fans to explore a few songs by each of the Daniel Ash bands (Tones on Tail, Love and Rockets, Bauhaus) before rendering judgement. Note that they write and perform their own songs, unlike most of Motown, which had the Funk Brothers and songwriting producers...
"I remember not Not liking it" Lol right? First one I heard from them was No New Tale To Tell. And then the self-titled album came out and was huge. I turned 17 in 1989. I recall hearing that The Cure was touring with Love And Rockets and Pixies! I had never seen any of them. Alas it was not for me, but I did see REM, INXS, Metallica and the Cult while in h.s.
Love and rockets were and still remain criminally underrated

Totally agree with you 🖤

I was hoping it was about spirits in the mirrors, but I can relate to the club story.

And then The Bubblemen (simultaneously with Love and Rockets. And 3 solo albums. Then much later, Poptone. And coming soon: Ashes and Diamonds.
Another good one from this album is No New Tale to Tell with David J on lead vocals.
that is a really good one. Kind of wish they'd listened to that one as their intro to L&R
A correction, all three of these guys are playing the same instruments they did in Bauhaus. Ash played guitar and sax in Bauhaus.

There are tonnes of great songs from these bands, so I hope you have fun exploring them as you have with Radiohead.

Love and rocket is bauhaus minus Peter Murphy
INXS light! Hahaha. They are one of my favorite bands since they came out. I am old now.
