Does Alpine have just a powered 8" under seat enclosure, but without the 4 channel amp? I am just looking for a nice setup to slide under the seat, or in the back of my 2001 Chevy S-10.
There are very few 8 inch subs that are slim powered subs that are worth even looking at for a install. In a few days you will want more and that 8 inch slim mount powered sub will not be enough. It is like buying a 250cc street bike to learn on. In a couple months your looking at a ZX14 Kawasaki Ninja lol. Just buy the 12 inch slim mount powered under seat sub or if you are space challenged like my Ranger is, a 10n inch sub because a 12 inch sub makes the seat to far forward.

Will I be annoyed that it’s just on the one side of the car if put it under 1 seat . In the boot (trunk) it’s at least in the middle of the car, but then at a cost of its further away so will it not be as good / fit fit purpose?

The best at the moment is the Alpine Pwd x5.
Including a build in 4 channel amp and subwoofer.
The second best would still be the focal ibus 2.1.
