I was there for Dylan in 1969, and then again for this in 1970. 5 magical days of Peace and Love and just incredible music, most of the best rock bands of the time. We lived the Dream as well as many of the brilliant musicians who played and sadly are no longer with us.

I was at the Isle of Wight aged 18. Arrived with my French girl friend at Ryde at sunset on 27 Aug. No tent or sleeping bags, Climbed over a wall and slept in a church graveyard. Made it to the site at Afton on Friday morning 28 Aug just before the bands struck up. That is 50 years ago to this very day. Water was short. Nights v cold. Days hot. Thankfully no rain but early morning fog. Sea warm to swim in. Music was brilliant. It was like Fantasy Football applied to rock music but for real. I was in a sort of heaven. I really like this video as it gives the feel of what it was like to be there and the chaos of it all. The sound track is brilliant and the lyrics capture the mood. I have colour photos which could be spliced into the video if it would be of interest to the creators. Just leave a post..I'll be there.

50 years later I still glow remembering this weekend. The weather was great. My mate and I got a ferry from Bournemouth pier to Yarmouth.Ticket was seven quid for ferry, entry to festival, and a pitch for our tent. Good value or what?

what a gr8 wk-end, we were on Devistation hill overlooking the stages till somebody said Tear down the fences and we will be there . we did and stayed there till early monday morning.
I wuz there!! 17 years young sleeping in a three man tent with 6 others so we had to take turns. Memories include being hungry, the 'Toilets' were a trench, John Sebastian did an hour acoustic as Ten Years After failed to be on time.Hendrix was poor but that was mostly down to the PA which was shocking (literally). No Glamping back then.
So, shit music, shit lodging conditions, and shit shit, but it was great???!!? Yeah man! That was DA SHIT! And look how well it all as evolved into! See the beautiful world of today (today's "The Future" of that song, d'you know?), directly coming from all that I of W shitty "vibe".....

It was a long time ago but i think it was the first festival ( 69 )and Jefferson Airplane were playing . It was quite windy and she had a long white dress on which was blowing out in the wind . Also i had never heard a sound system like it before , it was stunning . I definitely owe my career as a a Producer / Songwriter to that first experience , It was only equaled when i first saw ' Free ' in a small club in Southampton. I remember my ears ringing for 2 days , Fantastic ! T . C .

I was tripping on white lighting acid at Glastonbury 87 wandering about it felt like I was up to my knees in mud then I saw real sheet lightning amongst the trees and I found myself in a huge marquee where everyone was tripping and there was a guy with an acoustic guitar on stage and he asked the audience to name the colours at the top of the tent and we were so mashed no one could tell one colour from another. Jeez that was 30 yrs ago :)

Lovely vid, - I was there {tho' a couple of the artists in the film weren't!} It's nice to see a more representative clip of what for most of the half million of us, was a wonderful few days, rather than all that aggro bollox that we kept hearing about. In reality most of us hardly noticed the demonstrators, who just seemed to be a handful of daft French people, chanting " Free Festivaaal"
