LOVE these guys, they're so talented and with humour too!
They're not an a capella group they're a barbershop quartet
by definition, they also qualify as an acapella group
Patrik Elang Prakasa true. But specificity I think, is warranted and deserved by this group
Barbershop music is a sub-genre of a cappella music. Either is accurate for the NF4, most barbershop groups describe themselves both as a barbershop group and as an a cappella group.
Who is the other baritone?
"It's not a rectangle, it's a square"
They most certainly are an a cappella group (meaning without accompaniment). All Barbershop Quartets are a cappella groups, but not all a cappella groups are Barbershop Quartets. Get it? Why argue about what to call them?? Just listen and enjoy. These guys are fantastic.
There are many styles of a capella singing, but specifically, the Newfangled Four is a Barbershop Quartet.
I like watching all of them, and especially Ryan!❤
Nice suits!
3:40 THAT’S NOT RYAN!
He left
He left the group in 2020. He was not fired, there were no problems, and all remain friends.
This is a 5+ year old video, so that clip must have been pre-Ryan.
That is very definitely Ryan.
@@sueroork8452I'm going to assume you're either joking or you have issues with identifying people's facial features
Hey! What a great BARBERSHOP QUARTET! What a great example of how Barbershop is thriving and still great in modern times! Please, Entertainers Worldwide, don't be afraid to say Barbershop! People forget/don't know that it's still around and that it is really exciting to watch when it's with such a high quality group such as this or their chorus (the Masters of Harmony). Please check out more by Newfangled Four and the videos put out by the Barbershop Harmony Society from the international competition to see more excitingly spectacular barbershop! Newfangled Four got 6th last year, which is amazing.
Read other comments to understand what a cappella means
@@tricot6468 Honey I know what a cappella means. I'm saying this is a specific subset of a cappella that they have won medals for in an international competition and they should be recognized as such. Barbershop is a cappella by default, and they are an excellent barbershop quartet!
@@tricot6468 In fact, I never said it wasn't a cappella! Barbershop is a thriving a cappella style that people need to know is still out there, so it is important to call it by name. I suggest watching Westminster Chorus' rendition of "From Now On," which won them gold at barbershop international 2019! (ruclips.net/video/RwUkjPUqVyM/видео.html) Actually, the Newfangled 4 are in that chorus, too!
I don’t think anyone is arguing that they’re not technically an acapella group, but the Newfangled Four is very specifically a barbershop quartet, through self definition.
Also, musically.
Anyone know where the clip from 6:24 to 6:42 is??
"As long as i'm singing". Sounds like the version that vocal spectrum does. Try going from there
:)
Anyone know where the show at 7:52 is?
pretty sure it was a preliminary contest in Sacramento in 2017
Is the new guy formally from Dad Wagon? He looks somewhat familiar.
What new guy?
@@BodaciousWench 3:36.. the baritone in Ryan's spot.

This is a 5+ year old video, so it can't be new. That clip must have been pre-Ryan.
I think you mean "formerly", not "formally".
this is not doo-wop!
Pan up
Accapella means without music
Whether two three four five eight ten plus voices no music is accapella
Barbershop I believe got it’s name from the fact that men stood around in a barbershop and simply started singing
Different voices combined thus you got your quartets
Bass baritone lead tenor
Barbershop was around a lot longer than the word accapela
Greg Stickler actually it means "without instrumental accompaniment "
Actually, the expression “a cappella” (two words, not one) predates “barbershop” by a few centuries. In the Sistine Chapel in Rome it was forbidden to play instruments, thus the music being done there was only vocal, which coined the expression.
One distinct part of the Barbershop Quartet is that the harmony produces a sound called the fifth note which is not true of all a ccapella quartet groups.
“A Capella group” “4 part male harmony group” both wrong terms. I thing they’d rather be called a Babrbershop Quartet
Barbershop music is, by definition, 4-part harmony. They most certainly are a 4-part male harmony group.
Barbershop music is also a sub-genre of a capella music. So a cappella is 100% accurate.
As for their preferences, most (if not all) barbershop groups have no problem describing themselves as either an a cappella group or a 4-part harmony group. So the description is actually perfectly accurate in that respect.
Garrett Chollett 👍
Barbershop male quartet is indeed the most complete description, but not the only correct one.
The Barbershop style is not merely a capella or four-part harmony, but is a very specific type of musical blend, to sing as one voice. There are criteria to the Barbershop style that no other style of singing has, so properly, they are a Barbershop Quartet.
