sorry i can't think of anything def. i have had bad idles ,but it happened on the start up ,, ,,timing , bad gas (water in bowl) , most probs are gas related with outboards ,, but electrical is not ruled out ,,, a good thing is ,, you do not have major eng, probs ,, you likely have the prob. solved by now , i have a bf25 and love it , never had this prob , with it ,,, good luck
Since the knock started after idling for 2 minutes, I would suspect the water flowing from the thermometer caused it! Good luck!!
The BF45 I have does that till its fully warm then its fine at idle. Also started using farm gas (marked gas purple aka higher octane and no road tax)
clean your carbs and synchronize them, i bet that will fix the problem. if you still have it lol.
Did you take off the lower unit recently? If so, try readjusting the shit bolts.
I get the same on a 5hp outboard - lose comparison - but only at high revs and low revs where it just knocks about every half second or so....
My BF50 smoothed out after I started using non-ethanol gasoline. Give it a try.
Too low of an idle, just give it a little throttle
Air fuel mixture, its almost stalling.
Need to new propeller. Finding for right pitch or propeller problem.
more idle speed
worn bushes or bearing in gearbox
Ummmm ... It can be your timing or it can be your Carb need to tuneup !!!!
