Maybe you’ve showed this in another video, but I’m curious to see/know what food options/places are for crew members. I assume they’re different at least slightly for crew vs guests.
Love you talking about how you honestly feel about working on a cruise ship. It’s not negative it’s just honest and I think it’s important for someone trying to decide if they want to do this type of job to hear the up’s and downs not just all the beautiful travel photos. Loved seeing your day it was so cool. Most will never think about what goes on behind the scenes so thank you so much for giving us a look into your life. Last thing you talked a lot about your friends be talented but YOU are too. 🎉keep videos like these coming please 🙏

I loved hearing her perspective of how people paying to go on the cruise seems strange in the POV of an employee working on the ship. I can sort of relate, as I’m a retail worker and seeing people deliberately come into the store is kinda funny to me since many days I dread going there. For a cruise ship worker, I can see how this feeling would be even greater when you put into account that people are paying thousands of dollars to come to what is essentially your workplace. Completely different side of the spectrum, for sure… 😅 Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Kristine! 😊

Also, a bit off topic but, if it’s okay with you of course, I’d love to see a video of the crew member only areas/decks aboard the ship? I’ve always been curious what it looks like on the lower decks. Just a suggestion for future a video!
Kristine, I totally get it, with the feelings of being "stuck" Spent many a month on a ship in the Navy, so I understand what shipboard life is like. Lots of love, a brother in Christ.

Kristina you just gained another subscriber because of how honest you were about working on a cruise ship for so many months at a time. I have cruised twice and I loved it but it was only for 7 days. Ya'll are "stuck " for how ever long your contract is for unless you get seriously sick or get fired. In respect to eating and relaxing as long as employees are respectful I don't see why ya'll can't eat and lounge with the guest during non busy times. And I believe that the mess and your lounge areas need to look just like the guest areas and have the same food.

It's funny. The thoughts you share @ 5:35 I think myself when I'm at work in Manhattan. At lunch when I'm walking around I see many tourists and it's just funny that here these people are who traveled however far and paid however much money to get here and lodging and such and we just ended up at the same place at the same time. I'm there because it's my job and they choose to be there.

You were referring to the Messina Straight. That’s where you see mainland Italy on one side and Sicily on the other. Very interesting, cause Sicily is a part of Italy. Loved being able to see it.
I worked for Princess many years ago in the youth center. You are very lucky as your crew accommodations are HUGE compared to what I had back then! Your videos are fun to watch in this new Era of cruising!

Watching you go through conditioning was quite interesting for me as I did gymnastics as a child and some of the things you did were what we had to do during what was called "tension training."
So cool!! I grew up loving gymnastics too but never pursued it as much as dance!!

Unfortunately most...well, many prefer being told what to do & when to do it > be given specific parameters so that they don't have to think too much > it really has become a problem...see apathy

Wow, I am a Cameroonian and will be joining a Christian organization called Mercy Ships which is a hospital ship (not much fun like in your case haha). It was very nice to see you have a sticker on your laptop that says 'Jesus Loves You'! I was going through RUclips for videos that show what it's like living on a ship and your video has kind of helped me get a sense of what to expect on the 'Africa Mercy'
I live in bangkok. My friends often joke about living where millions of people spend a lot of cash to visit for vacation.

Hello Kristine, I just discovered your channel and love your vlogs in particular because I was a shoppie with Royal Caribbean from 2004 to 2011 and its so interesting to see the differences from then to now. Thank you for sharing. I just have a question please I'm curious about.. do HR or Royal have particular guidelines for you or any crew members sharing crew areas or crew or ship information on social media? It was a big no no when I worked for them.

I can't dance and I don't have any other marketable entertainment talents ... I hate to clean, I am a lousy waitress and the thought of working in the laundry doesn't appeal, I doubt I'd make a decent bartender (although I DO love to mix drinks ... for myself ... LOL) ... but I'd also LOVE to live on a cruise ship for months at a time!!! Even if I had work or a job to do ---

I have friends in different departments but the cast all lives/works together for so long that we definitely become a tight knit group :)
Hey!! First of all, so excited for your new contract!
I’m in the process of auditioning for a role on Allure and was wondering about something: you mentioned that someone was new to your cast and you had to reblock. Did this new person join the ship/cast later than everyone else? Is that common? I thought everyone’s contract starts/ends at the same time. Any info would be great. I’m nervous/excited about this potential adventure for me :)
Thank you!! No it’s actually very rare! It’s usually if someone gets injured, they’ll bring in a replacement for our shows (normally someone who’s already done those shows before so it’s easy to place them in). It would be very rare for a new hire to be offered a replacement contract first! So the majority of the cast starts and ends at the same time! I hope it all works out, good luck!!

why are there two different performance casts? we noticed this recently when we were on ovation; i would have thought there would be 'x' performers and you'd all do all the shows regardless of being in the theatre or two70
There is a 270 cast which does the show in that theater (usually more shows a cruise) and then the Theater cast performs the 2 production shows. It would be very exhausting if the same performers performed in all 3 shows!

What laundry bag do you use?
I like to have one with straps so I can carry it like a backpack, I bought this one at Walmart!!
So do you have to pay for the meals/drinks/snacks you get, or do crewmembers get complimentary meals? This might be a dumb question.
The crew mess is complimentary :) We only have to pay if it’s a specialty restaurant (like sushi, hibachi, italian)!
How much would I bring with me?

Thank you!! Personally I wouldn’t only because I’m a dancer and they are mainly casting vocalists because Icon will have musical theater shows! But the ship looks amazing!!
@@kristinekugler Thanks for the reply and your perspective. Most crew members I ask that question to don't want to because of the craziness of being on a brand-new ship. I was on Explorer a few months ago and attended the Captain Corner I asked the same question and his answer was an adamant "NO" .. :)

Yes! There’s a Theater cast and a 270 cast on board so they perform the Book and we perform Showgirl and Effectors! I love having 2 casts on board because we’re all friends and support at each others’ shows!
