Welcome To Survival-Russia. One of the very best Outdoors and Survival related communities on RUclips, and yes, It's a pretty good Channel too.
My name is Lars. I'm From Denmark but I live in Rural Russia now. I live at a Homestead in wild nature surrounded by a huge forest.
On The Survival-Russia channel we do all things related to the Outdoors Lifestyle. I share my thoughts and experiences on Survival Techniques for the woodlands of the Northern Hemisphere. the Reality of Survival. I share Techniques and ways of the Siberian Tribesmen and the Russian Longhunters of the older days. Things not shown outside of Russia very much.
On this Channel we also do Off-Road driving, Vehicle builds, Metal Detecting, all things Outdoors basically. Enjoy!

Hey Lars, I was just curious as to what region of Russia you are in. I was thinking of moving somewhere out in the country somewhere and it looks awesome where you are. I was raised country and being self sufficient. I've framed and built houses, smoke houses, smoked meats, made our own syrup, slaughtered our own meats, and I'd just love to move somewhere away from cities. I know with politics today it can be difficult. I was also looking in northern Ukraine but now I'm glad I waited on that. I'm not political and just want to get away from all the crap. Let me know your thoughts please.
In Poland, all grandmothers used to know how to put scarves on their heads in winter. I don't think anyone can do that today.
Stay warm and stay safe.
They're fantastic. Sadly, the cabin crew on my Amsterdam to Calgary flight during the height of the COVID panic disagreed. But not all of us think outside the box. All the best in 2023! Cheers!
LOL :)
Happy Healthy 2023!!
😂
😂
Looking good and tacticool is the best reason. And remember, if you're dead, you can't look good. So make sure you can keep yourself alive.
very tacti-cool lars, cheers!
I am wearing 2 shemaghs right now indoors in the UK 'cos it's so dang cold and that's for sure!! LOL
You're a really funky guy 🤣
Wimp.
But 2 is awesome…
Direct from Real Reporter to @survival russia..✌🏼
I didn't know people didn't know this. The things we take for granted.
Thanks
Thanks Lars
Hello From Ohio, USA!!
A shemagh is also very useful while sitting on a deer stand in cold weather.
That weather is harsh to be chasing those critters, glad you found time to make these videos.
A " How To Use A Shemagh" video on a regular basis would be a great series. Please sir I want more.
Go to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, section "towel". Than substitute shemagh instead of a towel.
@@jankopransky2551 Pretty much haha although would be cool to see all the different specific styles you can do according to your enviroment, and conditions. Although you i guess could do all that with just towel the most versatile implement ever
@@lalli8152 Disagree. Imo shemagh is actually better towel than the actual towel and someone should let the Guid's headquorters know!
@@jankopransky2551 *Never Forget Your Towel
Excellent!
We definitely need a Survival-Russia-Shemagh in the Merchandise. **The all mighty SRS for every situation** 😁
*Footwraps , as the quality of sock I have bought lately , Suck...
Great timing for me, I just bought a shemagh last week. Never used one before, thanks Lars!
Survival tips, fashion tips and a glimpse of the Boss ......thanks Lars.
Always Great to see a video from you friend. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you! Cheers!
OK Babushka😀
you are excellent
Great seeing you again Lars. Great learning video as always. Definitely a handy bit of kit for the head. Blessings to you and yours coming at you from the hills of Southern Oregon
I watch your video 👍. Hello good evening 👋
Hello 👋
😊happy face in the cold. I’m guessing most of us watching don’t live in winter conditions you’re talking about but I do come from Northern Ontario in Canada and honestly you couldn’t tell it apart from where you live in Russia. Thanks.
Neat 🙂👍
Thank you , Lars .
I have six and have used them for over 40 years ,and the way you showed how to use them is the way I was told to do it ,
(long time back now )
🐺
Excellent!
almost like Babushka :) or Baba Jaga :)
The Sehmag looks interesting. I've never worn one, I'm a balaclava type guy. I have heavier and lighter ones depending on the temperature. And of course living on the family ranch in the cattle country of Montana we wear our Stormy Kromer hats and large silk scarves around the neck.
Best shemag advertising I've seen recently ;-)
Hi Lars! I'm glad to see you are making videos again. Happy winter and happy hunting!
👍Thanks Lars , good health,
Peace and safety to you and yours.
Good instructional video Lars , thanks for sharing , God bless my friend !
Thanks for the video.
👍👍👍
Gut gemacht 👍🏻 tolles Video
my favorit are tube neck scarf & balaclava
Thanks lars you're awesome!
got 6 of them ... have been using them since 1990,
super useful piece of clothing, just make sure its a real cotton one,
(i bought a couple a few years ago and they were junk, high street fashion clothing)
👍👍
👍👍 Shemagh is great !
Very nice property. I have regular intel up on YT. Keep prepping guys 👍 🙏 ✝️
Thanks Lars, I've got one for a camera prop. I may have to get it out and scare the wife. Best to your family.
Tak for det, Lars! Hej-hej from Germany
These are very useful.
In warm and cold Weather.
Thanks
I think RUclips has some kinda deal going with a shemagh company. They've recommended several videos about them to me over the last couple of days.
For years now when winter comes shemaghs become part of my EDC gear.
They are incredibly effective at keeping you warm, a lot more than most people think. For some reason people seem to think they are only for hot environments but I've never figured out a viable use for them when it's hot. Maybe because we don't have many sandstorms around here. But with the way things are going in the world I'm not ruling out such storms in the future. LOL
among the Cossacks, a similarity of a scarf is called bashlik башлык
Bashlyk is a prototype of Budyonovka. According to ESBE: “It was introduced into the Russian troops in 1862 and during the war of 1877-78. turned out to be so expedient that it began to be tested in Western European countries. So, in 1881, the entire detachment of French troops sent to Tunisia was equipped with hoods ”
Gonna buy 1 right now, THANKS
I think I will stick with my 3 position balaclava .
Two more ‘good things’ - l learnt what a shemagh was and how to tie it -winner . Can’t be bad 😊
Alu Akbar... nikab...
Salaam Aleikum!
Just watched a video from Real Reporter and guess who i saw!?...
A little more back story on you and your community Lars. A different perspective was welcome to see. All this political stuff is tiring, I like to see humans live well and free no matter where they are. Thanks for being a good human, pass it on! Best wishes from western Canada.
SWEET!
I have been meaning to buy a shemagh for years and years and finally ordered from ebay a few days ago. Been watching vids on how to tie them. Amazing timing on your vid as i am a long time follower. I need it for hot windy sandy summer in West Oz though. All the best Lars, and hope u get some gooOod sleEep soOon
As warm as they get during the day, it gets pretty dang cold at nights in deserts, even below freezing sometimes.
"En gang til for Prins Knud", tak for den, Lars! 😆
It certainly does :)
Engang til for prins Knud! Helt sikkert!
outstanding!!! thank you
Sure looks cold brother!
I found your channel searching for army foot wraps several years ago. Finally, the army head wrap video is out 😀.
Thank you :)
Like a real Babushka
In Soledar tehy also didnt sleep for 3 nights...
Strange, I was offered up a “how to tie a shemagh” video earlier and I do actually need to know. Glad I didn’t watch it now! I love mine in the cold, it keeps a cold breeze off the neck really well. Edit: I know this one, it’s not the best for me as it always comes loose.
I Like to use the shemagh as a tablecloth, when in the field. Makes things feel ... , a little bit ' more romantic ' you could say
How about selling them with your logo? I'd pre-order right now!

3:30 that’s fkn cool.
We have ruff grouse here in Canada. There is a lot of meat on their chest. Do your grouse beat wings on their chest during the mating season?🇨🇦
What’s the temp there now?
Right now it is warm. -10c / -12c or so. We have had -42c for a while.
Doing up your school-tie for combat-ninjas.
Who got the Slavic Ladies Commercial.....? Amen..
Pass på er og ha det godt 🎉😊
Lars the Babushka.
Good bits of kit if you have seen the 'natives' use them. I've been with north Africans that think of nothing about taking them off and using them as a tarp/basha so they have some shade to sleep in during the hottest part of the day.
Lars! You sound well but look rough my friend! Hope you can find the time to get a good sauna in
man that wolf was close lol
My mom asked why your wareimg a babushka ? Lol had to explain it she says great Idea
Why didnt you sleep Lars?
Lars, thankfully our weather here in the lower 48 U.S. isn’t cold enough to need one of those, plus at my age I would not venture outside in winter, if it wwas!😊
i have one of those was always curious how
RoaR
Nice video. For those who don't want to wear cotton in cold weather, or want a plain OD or black square, Varusteleka sells a merino wool scarf that's about the same size as a shemagh and can be worn the same way. The fabric is more of a stretchy knit. I bought one and it's pretty nice.
it works a little better if one side is slghtly longer than the other before you cross over then go up with the shorter end ...... should i claim copyright on the shemage vids lol
Best shemaghs are from Jordan, they are bigger and thicker than your average army shop shemagh.
Good video. Always wondered how these worked, it's much simpler than I expected.
Does the water vapor from your breath make it wet? If so, is it a problem in very low temperatures?
They are very fine cotton.
They do get wet from your breath, but they're very quick to dry on the fire because they're so thin when you unfold them.
🤓
Lars. What’s the measurements of the sides of that Shmaag?
Not drafted to the meat grinder yet?
When I was little my grandma would smear my face with cow(?) fat and wrap me up like this, I looked like a mummy. But I guess with russian winters it is very necessary.
Ditto but with vasoline/white oil
When i put things like this over my nose like a neck tube or something it always gets wet then its freezing my face
Do you know a way around this? Or do u often have it around nose?
Maybe just tight ones are bad
What is the warmest clothing you can wear all at once?
Any updates about food and gas prices in russia? Or still no difference to 2021?
Will be coming up soon at my buddy's channel Real Reporter. Check his channel out. He have been here visiting not long ago.
@@SurvivalRussia thanks lars! Will have a look there tomorrow! All the best
@@vanvidd7669 His video is not up just yet, but will be soon.
Ты лучший! 🇷🇺💪
A Shemagh is great for a sandstorm...it stops the sand getting up your nose and into your lungs and you can still breath ok through the porous material...the same is true for spindrift I'd think. It can be used with a stick to keep the sun off you, it stops your head baking, and can be used for carrying all sorts of things. It wicks away moisture to cool you and could be used as a body covering when it gets cool.
Best Channel on RUclips..!

I've bought a few from a company call Alpha Defense but they are not like a scarf more similar to a long ski mask you can pull your head all the way through they come in regular and fleece lined. I tried the fleece lined this winter and it kept my face pretty warm considering it was only -5C 23F. Thanks for sharing Lars there is always something to learn from you.
BEEN SHEMAGHEN FOR YEARS. WHY ARE YOU AT THE BEACH😏😏😏
I came on here expecting Lars but got Fatima instead.
