Hey Lars, I was just curious as to what region of Russia you are in. I was thinking of moving somewhere out in the country somewhere and it looks awesome where you are. I was raised country and being self sufficient. I've framed and built houses, smoke houses, smoked meats, made our own syrup, slaughtered our own meats, and I'd just love to move somewhere away from cities. I know with politics today it can be difficult. I was also looking in northern Ukraine but now I'm glad I waited on that. I'm not political and just want to get away from all the crap. Let me know your thoughts please.

I think RUclips has some kinda deal going with a shemagh company. They've recommended several videos about them to me over the last couple of days.
For years now when winter comes shemaghs become part of my EDC gear.
They are incredibly effective at keeping you warm, a lot more than most people think. For some reason people seem to think they are only for hot environments but I've never figured out a viable use for them when it's hot. Maybe because we don't have many sandstorms around here. But with the way things are going in the world I'm not ruling out such storms in the future. LOL

among the Cossacks, a similarity of a scarf is called bashlik башлык
Bashlyk is a prototype of Budyonovka. According to ESBE: “It was introduced into the Russian troops in 1862 and during the war of 1877-78. turned out to be so expedient that it began to be tested in Western European countries. So, in 1881, the entire detachment of French troops sent to Tunisia was equipped with hoods ”

A Shemagh is great for a sandstorm...it stops the sand getting up your nose and into your lungs and you can still breath ok through the porous material...the same is true for spindrift I'd think. It can be used with a stick to keep the sun off you, it stops your head baking, and can be used for carrying all sorts of things. It wicks away moisture to cool you and could be used as a body covering when it gets cool.
