The Survival Russia Channel is about "The Reality Of Survival". I live on a Homestead in far away Russian wild nature and here are no room for "TV" Survival.
Only Reality counts here. Survival Russia promotes the philosophy of always carrying equipment and never to be parted from equipment which will affect chances of Survival.
So did the old timers and pioneers of both the East and the West.

I really like the different people they meet here, americans, russians, germans (like me), norwegians ... and so on. Nobody of us wants war. Thank You, Lars for showing us :-) I learn from Your experiences. Good luck.

I do not live in a northern environment, but find your comments very useful, for I am a cool weather motorcycle rider. Riding at 0 C, at 40 mph, the wind chill is horrific. Multiple layering is mandatory...I like old style long johns and then flannel lined blue jeans for my legs, wind proof boots with cotton socks under wool socks. Upper body....long sleeve polyester T-shirt, then flannel shirt, army coat liner, and finally, wind proof jacket, neck gaiter, windshield on my helmet, full coverage glasses, and dewrag for my helmet liner. When I stop for lunch it takes me about 5 minutes to get most of these clothes off before I can go into a restuarant...oh, gloves..cotton glove liners inside thinsulate long sleeved leather gloves...keeps the wind from running up my sleeves! I also find a bit of lotion on my face prevents windburn. Stay warm and safe, Lars!

There is so much clothing out today made with supposedly "high tech" trade marked material but this video is just another reminder of how you don't need the new fangled $tuff to stay warm. Good old fashion cotton and wool worked fine for years and still does.

I can't believe you don't have Merino baselayers yet! It's awesome!!! If you were here, I'd get you some. I don't know how I managed before it. Hunting on snowshoes here close to -30 or colder, Merino baselayers, wool pants and top, wool sweater, toque and pack boots. Take care!

Yeah staying warm is all about not being TOO warm. Wool is the answer. Goretex - useless in cold weather. Great around zero and plus 5 but nothing good about it in the cold. I like to wear wool underwear and a Gorka suit directly on top. Then add stuff when I stop moving. Love your stuff. You know what you are talking about because you live it and you love it. Wish more people listened to you, then we would have less rescues out here. Keep em coming!

In the cold months I always remember something my Grandfather taught me. I wear a flannel shirt and coat over my regular clothes in the winter. Grandpa told me to never throw on your outer shirt and coat right before you walk out the door. He said to put them on at least a couple of minutes before you leave so you preheat them and the air gaps while you are warmly inside. If you throw them on right before you walk outside, you are using a bunch of your body heat trying to warm them to 98 in the then colder environment. Preheat them while you are still warm!
