We have a lot of beginner drummers who watch our channel. Dennis has made a long career out of drumming and has seen it evolve throughout the years, so we wanted to know if he had any advice for drummers who are just starting out.
This exercise turns what may seem like a complex drum part into something more digestible. The more you become aware of what you’re playing, the better choices you’ll make in order to compliment the music.

Cool Dennis! Great stuff! When I first started out I got a drum teacher and I went to his house one day and he said "watch this" and it was Dennis Chambers 'In The Pocket'. My drumming changed over night! Loved it and been a huge fan ever since- that was like 1993 (ish). Keep groovin' Dennis! DC

I am 12 years old and I have been playing for 8 years. I completely agree with all of this. Ever Since my first lesson, I listened to ACDC and mastered that before I tried to improvise. I agree with Dennis when he says that young drummers just try to learn the flashy stuff before they try to learn to groove. I would rather watch a drummer feel a groove and keep it for 5 minutes than watch some kid just play fills all night with no feel.
Flashy stuff without on beat is very unpleasant to listen to lol

It appeared that Dennis didn't really "listen" or answer his question.... check Drumeo dudes reaction at 3:54 .. it's like O....K..... thanks for that.
He never does ... no really, go talk to him at a clinic sometime. Brick wall.
But the real answer is right here 4:08 and Dennis is 100% correct. Too many drummers trying to be flashy and not musical.

Haze Anderson , I've heard that...I always find it sad and unfortunate when people are in the public eye by choice, that they lack the people skills to communicate with them.
I've been to hundreds of clinics over 40 years and it's awkward when an inspiration to you can't give you the time of day.
