You may be able to iron the crease out , but protect it with a paper towel and low heat, slowly increasing the heat. Just be careful and it should get most if not ali the crease out.Anyway it may be worth trying.
You don't need to break the headstock, just have someone do a subtle biscuit job on it. I've seen the repairs they do and you could have a luthier put some slits in the pack and put in some reinforcement with a bit of glue; clamped and polished it should be barely noticeable. I've seen more than one bass conversion to fretless where the luthier cleaned, deepened, then shimmed in wood to where the frets were. Paint it gloss white to match the base color and because of where it's at will be impossible to detect by eye at any distance past a few inches.
So glad that white les paul custom made it back to its intended owner!🤗 Looks like you found some cool stuff. My favorite of which is the cherry Firebird! Can't wait to see you do or review on that one Trogly!

I don't care if Gibson wants to stick to set-neck Firebirds....just give us some nice colours and a properly shaped headstock on the Epiphones! I want a firebird so badly, but used prices have gone insane with their "discontinued" status and the Epiphone has a weird overgrown headstock where one of the strings splays AWAY from the nut, which is insane give how FBs normally have the straightest string path of any Gibson. I just can't get over it.

I hope that Gibson brings back the neck-through Firebird. All other variants are just not a Firebird, IMO. I'm OK with Steinberger tuners instead of banjo tuners.
I’d seriously look at the 2015 Firebird. It has the shockingly controversial specs of putting the out jack on the side! A wider nut! A Titanium nut (originally cryo-treated brass that failed, so Gibson replaced it with the HP titanium version) and titanium saddles! The horror for traditionalists!😂

But I’ve never seen another one with hex set screws out of all the Gibson branded ones I’ve owned? Let me know if you have?

Canadians are losing more than 25 cents on the dollar for any 'cross border' transactions. Every $100 spent actually costs more like $130, and then you've got taxes and customs tariffs on top. I don't know what it's like coming the other direction, from us - but for the past couple of years it's been hard to justify 'spending' the extra money. Too bad because Sweetwater does have some nice stuff, so does Guitar Center but it's very hard for us Canucks to lay our hands on them.

It was stolen RIGHT OFF THE STAGE at a gig in a place called Finally Michael's in Plainview, NY, back in '90 something. I can't imaging EVER being able to find it, but the sentimental value alone would be worth trying. 30 years ago, I know,... I wouldn't even know where to start to try to find it. I was CRUSHED.

For some reason they didn't want to take this one on probably do the how hard it would likely be to perfectly match the finish. The repair dept is separate from the Custom Shop so they likely didn't have the right paint since this was a one-off custom
Hey Trogly to make the dirty finger/ sonex electronics a museum display make a base and mount all the electronics in a piece of plexiglass then make a groove in the base and secure the display in the groove and maybe even get a rotisserie to display it on rather then selling it. Be happy to assist

StewMac sells some great wheels for Dremmels that will make your frets shine like a mirror.
I always just polish the fretboard too. That's what Gibson did in 2015 & it's much nicer

The Gibson ‘Sparklie’ finishes have to be the Kitschiest, you could have 7 base colors 1 for each day and title it the Barbie collection.
For the found guitar, you could always ask Gibson to do a new neck and just put an unpainted mahogany neck.
A high end guitar gives power chords extra power. And sustain. It takes 10 to 11

Really don't think 'breaking the headstock further' is necessary to repair it, at not cosmetically.
