Finding an ABANDONED SUITE at the Oakland Coliseum

- This place keep getting weirder, but it's also VERY cool and unique. I mean, can you imagine a suite at Yankee Stadium being wide open for anyone to wander in and take a look? It'd get vandalized within 90 seconds, but the fans in Oakland are much more chill. Maybe the A's left the suite unlocked to allow people to wander? Maybe more people end up paying for suites that way? I would love to know the answer.
Other than that, I got hooked up in a really cool way by bullpen catcher Dustin Hughes (@dhog91) who threw me three baseballs -- one in each level of the stadium -- to help me get to 100 lifetime balls at the Coliseum. As promised, here's a list of all 27 stadiums where I've reached triple digits:
New Yankee Stadium -- 2,250
Shea Stadium -- 2,173
Citi Field -- 1,579
Oriole Park at Camden Yards -- 678
Old Yankee Stadium -- 560
Citizens Bank Park -- 525
Nationals Park -- 328
Great American Ball Park -- 296
Turner Field -- 239
Globe Life Park -- 234
Kauffman Stadium -- 231
Fenway Park -- 226
Petco Park -- 203
Chase Field -- 199
Dodger Stadium -- 164
Guaranteed Rate Field -- 153
Progressive Field -- 153
Coors Field -- 148
T-Mobile Park -- 146
Wrigley Field -- 143
Comerica Park -- 131
Rogers Centre -- 134
American Family Field -- 115
loanDepot Park -- 115
PNC Park -- 106
Minute Maid Park -- 105
Oakland Coliseum -- 102
In case you missed my previous video when I got SIX FOUL BALLS during the game, here it is:
• Snagging SIX FOUL BALL...
Also, here's the video from Miami where EVERYthing good happened:
• I got EVERYTHING I WAN...
The newest video in Oakland with the abandoned suite was filmed on September 19, 2023 by Rachel Messbauer, and it was edited by Zac Gutherman (@zg_films). Thanks for watching! - Спорт
As a Seattle fan, I'm going to miss this place. Everything sounds so familiar with all the countless games we've played the A's in there, listening on the radio and watching on TV. Especially those drummers who never get tired of it!
miss this dump lol?
As someone who has been to that stadium good riddance what a dump and the city should also be abandoned what a dump.
@@theb3654me if I were stupid.
I did this last night 🤣 that’s for the video helped a ton
Thank you
As a Yankee fan, it's kinda sad to see this stadium empty
You don’t need to announce you’re team
😂
Me too. Thanks Zach!
@@theepie25I think the point being he’s not being biased because he doesn’t root for the Athletics.
Well you did take all their good players. The A's was and is your farm system.
It’s a shame that the A’s are leaving Oakland. I used to take BART with my kids to the games. Seeing it so empty makes me sad. I blame the selfish owner AND the government officials for the city of Oakland. They tried to move to San Jose (not too far from Oakland), but the San Francisco Giants stopped that because they had a minor league team there (even though there are more people and have more income down there). Oakland lost their basketball team (Warriors), their football team (Raiders), and now they will lose their baseball team. I hope Vegas treats them well.
I blame the economy as well. You have to think this area used to be a booming area with higher than normal income. It could support 3 major sports teams. Now, the area is the least poor out of San Jose and San Francisco.
These teams need to sell a lot of tickets, especially the high price suites and Vip members, to support the team. Also selling just generally tickets. It costs more to keep the lights and water on than how much tickets were sold during this game.
Also, due to the area, it's just not favorable. It is a pretty poor area with a decent crime rate
It’s a crazy crime rate in Oakland. Even in n out burger is leaving due to it
When was the last time you went to a game bruh?
@@jpesicka999 When my adult kids were young…it was a while ago.
Last game I went to there was 20 years ago or so. The upper deck was mostly empty. I saw a fight break out on the upper deck where two people were trying to throw each other over the rail. Security took forever to get there. A few minutes later, two drunk chicks walked up to the front of the aisle and flashed the batter about 10 ft away from me. I'm a Giants fan, but that was a fun game.
I love the atmospheres at these games in Oakland. Reminds me of the 1980s, when crowds were smaller and their collective personalities were more, I don't know how to put it, like they were in these two videos. Just there to watch the game and enjoy themselves and enjoy baseball.
I said this in a comment on the last video too, but I'm going to miss the A's being in Oakland.
I worked Jack Murphy stadium in San Diego in the 70's. Generally, (MLB) baseball players are just little kids, grown up. And Zack follows the trend. This is what baseball is/should be all about.
And you never know. We are still fighting. I would be surprised if John Fisher can pull off his move and if he does 🤔
@@elisemariecollinsyoga5905 It's done, the MLB owners voted 30-0 to relocate the A's to Las Vegas... Oakland had plenty of time to sort out a new stadium, unfortunately MLB patience ran out and your time EXPIRED at the end of 2022... All Oakland had to do was BUILD A NEW BALLPARK! Build it and he will come... Build it and they will come... From the film Field of Dreams...
Right man you just had to be there. Same crowds you would see at the raiders games. Even though the As were never really that good the fans always made the games feel like the team was something special. Made you want to go to the games just because of how wild it got
Wow that was a sad time - the 80s - for the As. Because attendance was so bad, a college radio station actually broadcast the Athletic games - not carried the national feed but actually had two students do the broadcast. Not as bad as in the 70s when a low-powered FM high school station carried the games for part of a season. 10 watts at the time.
I think it’s super cool that Dustin collects commems! Definitely a super cool thing for you two to have in common! As for the coliseum, the weird quirks of it such as that box, the random stair cases that lead to nowhere, the layout, etc, those random aspects make the place all the more unique and glorious. Fans can talk about new stadiums all they want, but there’s just a special feeling about being at an old fashioned/one of kind ballpark such as Oakland. Especially in its last few years.
I totally agree! Well said.
The designs can be quirky but they could at least take care of it.
@@TheKing12829?
Me and my friends found that same suite when we went to the A's and Giants games! We originally had pretty crappy seats and stumbled across that open suite, pretty nice view for the games!
The Oakland Coliseum is basically already abandoned
Lol
😬
Zach you are the best content creator on this site thank you for everything ❤
@@zackhample❤
Damn it was just about to say that
I miss the As of the Seventies. Reggie, Rudi, Campy, and Catfish ❤
Well, your shit hole liberal town causes three major sports teams are now gone. That’s on you guys you keep voting liberal politics. Shame on you dude.
This stadium has so much history, it's sad that they are letting this team go. The fans of Oakland deserve better.
I'm still recovering from the Raiders leaving to Las Vegas. Oakland will always be the heart of the Raiders Nation. ❤
Still, it was, by far, the most poorly-designed stadium ever built. Converting from baseball to football was insanely sloppy and inefficient.
Too bad Oakland hates sports
Being a Oakland Athletic must be a Rush! Playing in front of dozens of people every night.
I like seeing you visit these late season teams with limited attendance. Makes the foul ball hunt seem fun. Everyobe there was so happy to see you too.
Thanks. It's sooooo much fun to be at stadiums with small crowds.
I live 1 mile from the Coliseum…been to countless games and I can hear the stadium rally music from my bedroom. It’s my church.
My first stadium growing up. Sadly after almost 60 games there is really sad that it will end this way. But Zach, you have a great channel love your foul ball videos and some or later you'll come back hourly next year down in where i am SD. keep up the great work!
That throw to the upper deck was awesome.
Right on target. Unreal.
Man Zack I was actually at this game sitting in the left field bleachers. Would’ve been great to meet you, the man capable of living out his dreams. I really respect you.
That said, we can all sense how ownership has killed this franchise. Killing the product on the field, reducing the fan experience off of it, while doubling ticket prices. Then we can’t get excited about the young guys because we may have no future in Oakland. Anyways man, thanks for coming out and showing our history some love.
I recall the days when the fans bought cheaper upper deck seats and then sat nearly the whole game in the lower bowl... No wonder the upper deck was closed and other seats increased... The fans dug their own hole...
The "Holy Toledo" tribute sign was even shaded out (11:48). Wow. Even the late A's /Raiders PBP announcer Bill King can't even get love in the coliseum's waning days.
Hope I can meet Dustin Hughes one day he really is a cool guy. Love how zack has all this space at this stadium. Really makes the video better so much more action
My bet is that they just forgot to lock the doors to the suites and since so few people are up there continue to forget. Though it would have been perfect had your brief tour of the suite attracted security from somewhere. I wonder if any adventurous fans will go up there for some non-baseball related activities.
Haha, ohhhhhh boy
How do we know the Z-man himself didnt do that exact thing?🤫
6:40 thats an awesome stat and really impressive sir thank you for the dope videos here at the coliseum, i grew up in the bay and the A’s are my fav team and i love watching all ur videos here!
What i also find awesome is when you made that 2nd foul ball catch, I like how everyone saw that you caught it and then people notice you in the stands lol im excited for these playoffs i hope luck strikes you if you’re going to them
It's hard to believe how old some of these stadiums have gotten, like this one. Fifty-seven years old! Opened in 1966 at the dawn of the cookie-cutter, circular multi-use stadium boom. Between the A's and the Raiders, it became quite a historic venue. Sad it's all about to come to an end as time marches on.
There's a 'cutting edge owner' and the construction people who built for the Raiders? Money wins and MLB fans(Oakland, East Bay) lose.
I wish every Athletics fan or supporter could pool and buy the team. MlB is throwing away one of their great double team Metro areas.
@@JojjonLewis-yq2pm You can't buy anything that isn't for sale...
Dude...........I really think you have some kind of Rawlings made magnet inside of you!!
I remember the early 1970's when Oakland played in 3 A. L. Series with Baltimore. The A's had a great team then for many years, and both teams were pretty evenly matched, what players they had on that team!!!
I was a Dodgers fan & these A's in 74 plowed right through us,what a team...cool uniforms too!
Always good to "know a guy". Pretty cool you hooked up Dustin with that Marlins ball. Never seen someone play "catch" from the 3rd deck. Haha. More cool catches. Until the next video...
It sure is. Dustin is the best!
I actually remember going to the Oakland Coliseum way back in the day. It's been a long time since i haven't gone since then. That is a good memory tho. Let's Go A's!
Lots of sports history happened there. Lots of legends called that place home field.
That Was So Dope

Thank You
Zack your so entertaining you even make the oakland coliseum look fun 😅great video
Thanks but it IS fun.
Let’s Go Oakland!!!! Congrats on 100!!
Really enjoying your videos Zack! Love your enthusiasm and it defo helped me get into baseball. I went to the London series in July and loved it, it got me hooked. I ended up going to 5 games at Wrigley in August and it got me hooked even more! I’m having a bit of a tough time at the moment so keep the videos coming 😁
I love how u always passing baseballs to the kids respect
At Yankee Stadium you enter a suite like that... you'd be tackled and banned..😂😂 you know I'm not lying.
how to find out if someone is a yankee fan? they’ll tell you immediately
@@gretz5792that person never said he was a Yankees fan, just an observation about security at that stadium. I can tell you that even with a media credential Yankees Stadium security will hassle you if you don’t follow their rules to the letter.
You wouldn't ever get near it and probably be locked anyway
@@robertmiller2104that's because Yankee stadium is gay
I wish to someday soon have that same drive you have. Continue to do what you do. I'm working on it
I love seeing you interact with Ben and the Orioles and Dustin with the A's just seem like really great guys !
This is a video I’ll definitely be saving Zach love the vids
Man the atmosphere of being at a game just the sounds have me goosebumps great video. It’s sad this classic franchise is moving. I hope they have success in Vegas.
Ahhh....I have spent many and I mean many afternoons there watching Billy Ball and of course there for The Silver and Black from the time they came back and now gone AGAIN. Section 121 row 23! I hear you on it being sort of weird, but between the A's and Raider's I have had a heavy heart in that place for decades. Long live OAKTOWN!
So many great moments in this stadium. Go Raiders. Time to enjoy this old ball park while we still can. P.S Pink Floyd at the start of video was awesome.
that's what I'm saying, didn't expect to hear pink floyd lol
Have a Cigar!
This video brings back a lot of memories, I had season to the coliseum with the raiders in section 330. Miss that place being home.
After looking at your totals, what are going to do commemorate when citi field passes Shea?
When I was there last Saturday, I bought myself a "SELL" shirt even though I'm not an A's fan. Congrats on catching your 100th baseball at the Coliseum, Zack!
Thanks and I wish I saw one of those shirts for sale.
@@zackhamplepretty sure we could get you a shirt
That was priceless "They Need you on the field" LoL
Hey Zack, I attended those As/Ms games in Tokyo in 2012. AND I also spotted you at Ichiro's final game featuring the As/Ms again at Tokyo Dome in 2019.
Those luxury suites are the best. Good all around food, and it has that cozy feel. Plan on getting one or two more suites, before they head on out of town.
When I was a kid we use to run around at the tip top of center field.. was so high up.. at least in memory.
Thanks for proving it possible to have fun at an A's game.
The As fans and players deserve more. God bless.
Good night from Chicago Zack, good to see you went to Bay area game. Bad luck didnt have business trip but kids will happen to see which the field they been.
Great video and love to see your kind gestures to other fans!
Paul Blackburn played little league with my cousin, years ago. He's also from the same hometown as me. It cool seeing him pitch locally.
This guy goes to baseball games everyday, it’s amazing
Your a legend my guy. Straight ball magnet 👍👍👍
Zack that over the railing catch was awesome
I saw a lot of baseball games there from the 70's and 80s. I also went to day on greens there through the 70's 80's and 90's. Lots of good times at the Coliseum.
love you doing this i started last year you are so good
i like the video very much Zack keep up the good work
Did you ever go to the metronome and if you did, do you like that better or target field?
50 years ago the Oakland A’s were about to win their second of three straight World Series. How sad things have gotten in Oakland .
@5:30 to 5:51. Thank you for including that! We appreciate it!
Thank you again Zack, this series has been depressing, I hate to see a MLB team/fans go through what has gone on there. The empty suite didn't help. Cool to see another park though, even through a camera lens:)
13:32 “They need you on the field!” That was funny!
As a Braves fan I’m so glad that Shea Langeliers is flourishing up there in Oakland. Hope he turns into that big time player that I know he can be!🔥🤟
Great catch in the third deck Zack, we worked A's home games this season we remember this game Filipino Heritage night and you and Dustin Hughes playing catch does it get any better than that? Oh yes your own suite.
Underrated: the food at the Coliseum, particularly the (Miller’s) hot dogs.
You should have let that guy with the pin stripe A's hat try to catch a ball. Dude really wanted to catch one.
The catcher definitely only wanted to give you one ball😂
Wow Such a very wholesome guy. Thanks for everything your doing for my generation 💪🏻👊🏼
It really Means a lot.
It is sad that beautiful Ball Park
will be a relic of the Past in Years to Come
Before those " suites " they were just regular seats, back in the 1970's they were a great place to sit at the Day on the Green, all the biggest Rock and Roll bands made regular stops there, during that decade.
Awesome video! Some awesome throws by Dustin too
That was really cool of you to give the Soderstrom ball to that guy to give to his daughter.
As a kid, lived, grew up outside the Bay Area...A's....Bando, Tennace, Reggie, Gene, tell them to grow Mustache's...... Giants, Mays, Bonds, McCovey..... Live in Miami area now Season ticket holder since their inaugural year... Have a few of those inaugural ball's.... figured my way around the stadium enriching myself with many auto's, never obtained Jeter's.....My favorite, Fernandez....R.I.P........they did him wrong!...
The coliseum looks like a ghost town with less people anyways another good video Zack
It does and thanks.
100 with style and ease!
Great dude, that Dustin fella…👏🏻
⚾️⚾️⚾️
Sweet suite…
Another record setting foul ball day maybe? We shall see…🤔
No records but many fun moments.
They need you in the field 😂
I sat in one of those in 2003. It was actually a great place to watch the game
What is it about Oakland videos that makes them get so many views??? First the "Worst Seat" vid with a million and now this one with over 200k! Makes me fall even more in love with this amazing stadium!!
Hey zack a couple years ago me and my friend went to an a's game and all the suites were open on the top level. We eventually went inside and it was very cool
Zack I would love to meet you, but I didnt know you were going to the Oakland A's game yesterday. I wouldve went considering I have season tickets.
It’s crazy how U had to fight dozens of people lol😂😂. I feel bad for the As
Think you’ll make the drive down 95 to Bmore for some O’s postseason games?
6,000 plus is a big crowd for Oakland.
Crazy how the stadium looks abandoned as games are being played at it
When I was in the navy me and my friends would get off the B.a.r.t. station that lets you off right at the coliseum. We would watch sometimes thru the fence ( until security kicked us out)
I remember seeing games in those suites back in 2002 during The Streak. My girlfriiends Dads company had one and they were hella nice. It hurts my heart seeing what Fischer did to the A's...
God bless A's fans. The city doesn't deserve a team, but the fans do.
No hate to the Oakland Collisiom but that place is a dump. I'm glad you enjoy it Zack! That video when you caught 6 foul balls was wild! I couldn't even dream of doing that!
Thanks, that was CRAZY.
Love this guy
Zack reminds me of Ben Wrightman. I hope you get/got your Lindsey Meeks. 😉
Should have played "Wildfire" 70s music in the background at the beginning😂 kid getting the ball: priceless.
Growing up in the Bay the homies would always sneak in & hotbox the suites with some backwoods the only stadium I’ve seen people do it religiously even before this season & the pandemic
The way Zack holds onto the netting at 2:15 it's like he's flirting with his boyfriend
🔥🔥🔥
I saw you on TV for the first two night games and I was in 215 for the day game and got to see you there. I wanted to say you were definitely the reason they took the shacks out, I went there the week after your video and there were crowds up there, and within a few weeks the shack was gone.
Awesome Video Zack!
Thanks for watching.
I’m going to the Dbacks final regular season game today against the Houston Astros and the Dbacks starting pitcher is the same guy that threw you your 12,345th baseball, Kyle Nelson, against Christian Javier for Houston.
4:14 was ready to risk it all for you lol
@00:39 “It smells like crap out here.” (pulls out sock)
Zack in the off-season could we get a commemorative baseball collection video?
Dude's got one helluva arm! lol
The shack was used for film during Oakland Raider games but not needed anymore since the Raiders are in Las Vegas now.
