    Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
    With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

    Reminds me of starting up our old tractors on the home farm when I was young. You always parked the John Deere B behind the John Deere A so you could start the John Deere A, hook up the cable to the John Deere B to pull start it because the battery was always dead. The contest was to see how soon you could pop the clutch and start the B. The record is half way out of the building. Dad would yell at your for trying so earily, but you would get the record.

The next day he wasnt home and I walked up to his house with my younger cousin and we were going to take grandpas tractor down to the creek and go fishing. There was a small trailer hooked on the back. My cousin got in the trailer and I got the tractor started and got it in gear and in a short distance I ran into the clothes line post. We never did get to go fishing. lol

It just goes right through and you dont get that sudden jolt when you get all the way through the metal. He had a bunch of small pieces of wood that had hundreds of small started holes about an 1/8" deep.

I used to love when farmers were out in fields doing their work and sitting on porch sipping coffee just watching the show. I still do, it's peaceful and calming all at the same time. I was a master landscaper and herbicide applicator. I used to love walking next door which was a long way!! and just chat with the farmers. They loved telling what they were doing and how they did it, just like you Zack. I love taking my laptop outside in back yard and just watch 3 or 4 clips. Reminds me of my younger years.

    Some of our equipment gets used so little that we decided to put trickle charge pigtails on the batteries, and hang trickle chargers on the equipment. Kind of a mess with extension cords running from the equipment to the back of the shop, but a lot easier to unplug a trickle charger, toss it into the tractor (or whatever) toolbox, and go.. rather than go through the hassle of jump starting some equipment, which can be a royal pain depending on where the battery is, getting a jumpstarter over to it, etc.

    • @bigmedicine8042
      @bigmedicine8042 2 года назад

      An old farmer told me that the chisel plow goes way deeper in the ground than a flat-bottomed mold board plow. This helps break up the hardpan and builds a softer seed bed in turn getting a better stand of crops. However, he said if you have to much rain at harvest time the softer ground will big you down quicker than if you used a mold board . Some farmers he said we're going back to the mold board on that account.

    It's B.S that you have to update software on a piece of equipment to get it to start. I've done I.T. for well over 25 years and I tell you we are way too reliant on technology. It's going to cost us heavily someday.
    Know you got it started but what I mentioned above still stands.

    I wish I could give you some rain
    I live in south central new york and we've had 13 inches of rain since 6/15 our corn grew but probably aren't going to be able to get on the field until the ground freezes
