    97 dB is the sensitivity of the speaker that's way different from the max peak spl and your using a poorly calibrated phone mic to measure the levels of the speaker..

    It makes you wonder why we are paying above $1000 for PA speakers when, in reality, the bigger brands may be manufacturing in the same Chinese factories. Much of the price we pay is for the warranty, but is an EV really 600% better?

  • @ChronoCard
    @ChronoCard 2 года назад +13

    Yeah, about the speaker sensitivity rating... That's actually a measure of how much sound the speaker produced with a pink-noise tone while being powered at 1 watt with a mic 1 meter away from the center of the speaker, not a guarantee of the db it can hit. The higher the sensitivity, the louder the speaker is at the same power level.

    • @deepfreq
      @deepfreq 2 года назад +1

      Yeah I was gunna say. 97 db is a sensitivity level for the driver it's not a spl reading lol... buddy isn't an audiophile that's for sure aha. Bluetooth on a pa system .. ew

    • @alpoulin1
      @alpoulin1 2 года назад +2

      You are correct, sir. Although such a spec is usually only found on passive units (to better be able to calculate approximate SPL capabilty with a given applied power amount), which I thought a little strange. On a powered cab, you would usually see a continuous or peak SPL rating - and in this context an 97Db@1M maximum output would be very poor indeed for a speaker intended for PA use... I've actually ordered one of these "bad boys" yesterday to do my own review on my channel :)

    • @mydjericg6465
      @mydjericg6465 2 года назад +2

      You would honestly probably be fine with the 10 inch if just for ceremony, 12's if you plan on using them for cocktail also

    • @PURESOUND4
      @PURESOUND4 2 года назад

      10 is fine for a ceremony. I used to use 15" speakers for everything. I actually had a bride say it "looked" too big and bulky in the photos, so I went smaller for top speakers, and add a sub for the receptions.

    • @profdleeucc
      @profdleeucc 2 года назад

      @@mydjericg6465 The 2 12's would be 300 watts RMS for each 12" inch PA Speaker; so yes that would be also nearly ideal medium duty PA speaker application as its nearly 86% of the audio power output of the 15" inch PA speaker; the price as of this posting right now is $180 apiece or $360 for a matched pair of 2 12's; which is a much lighter 35lbs per 12" PA speaker(80% of the weight of the 15" PA speaker) or 70lbs if one is carrying both of them with one in each hand. The price of the 15" inch PA Speaker is now currently priced at $225 a piece; so its $45 bucks more for the 15" upgrade from the 12" PA speaker; so on a pair it would be about $90 bucks to upgrade to 100 total audio output watts in terms of rms power; so its $360 for pair of 12 inchers versus $450 for pair of 14 incher PA speakers; I personally would go for the $360 for the pair of 12 inchers myself as that is an excellent price for the performance dollar with about 85% of the total audio output power in output audio rms power; for a mere $360 for a pair of 12 inch PA speakers.

      I bought one to test / review it. It is painful to listen to out of the box, but the transducers are actually decent considering the price point. They have a strong bump at 2K that makes them painful to listen to, but with EQ, they are actually quite capable and can sound surprisingly good and loud. Why they didn't tame the compression driver with the DSP is beyond me. The 2K needs to be cut quite a bit. Add a boost in the 60hz and 10k regions and they can sound quite decent.
