Thanks so much for this. Born to Run was such an important song. Me and my friend sat in college for two years just waiting to be free listening to that song. We went travelling around Europe for three years. We busked our way. Amazing how much influence one man could have on so many lives.
Born to Run is such a huge part of my childhood. For ME, if I could have only 3 albums ever that would be my first selection. Wish it was more present in 2022
The Boss is one of those musicians who withstand the test of time. You don't have to be from Joisey to feel the magic of the way his music and songwiting can touch your very soul. Like a fine wine just better with time!
Bruce knows.. Writing a song is Magic. I never thought I would get up one Sat. morning and write a song about him. It's a Magical song and I hope he can hear it someday :-)
Bruce does not look like he’s suffering, why not. He worked hard for what he’s achieved, certainly most deserving No doubt a living legend exists Thanks for the music Bruce Highly insightful articulate man, still has something to say, I respect him and his message. This one holds up to Born To Run, I bought it.
32:55 I don't think I could describe how it feel to be Zane Lowe watching Bruce sing and play with the very guitar that made Nebraska. That is unreal and has to be a highlight of a career. Wow.
Everytime I see Bruce in his home studio he has that J200 didn't know that's the guitar on Nebraska. Usually he has one without a scrathcplate on it must have a few sunburst J200s I reckon. Good choice anyway I had a 50 year old blonde J200 best guitar I ever played unfortunately ain't got it no more.
A thoroughly absorbing interview. The most spooky moment of my life was 9/11. I was actually listening to Bruce's Live In New York City album on my personal stereo on my commute into work that morning (in the UK) and again on my lunch break. I remember being very struck by some of the lyrics and started feeling unsettled in my spirit. I could not then believe what unfolded.
Thank you for everything bruce. You music has meant so much to me. Its helped me in alot of dark places. I'm only 32 and wasnt around when you where young. But I get this feeling whenever any of music comes on that nothing else matters. All my stress is gone, all my worries are gone and I start thinking of the great times
Yeah man, sit down with Born to Run then/ or with a good audio live session from then up to 84-86. Was lucky to see him twice in that period. Tears, immense joy, the POWER of Jungleland. Just such an experience.
I took Sax lessons in school because of the Big Man! That and Bakerstreet but mostly after seeing Clarence. So great and he and Bruce's relationship was so special. Their interactions on stage. You're certainly an enlightened 32yo musically. Great to hear generations outside mine and my parents appreciate the good stuff. ✌️🤍🤘🇺🇸
@@SteveGuion Wrong, very good interview by someone that knows his subject. Most times you see people stammering around with what they want to say. Not here.

Anyway, overall a good interview. I like that bit about conversations being part of subliminal learning. He's right, I reckon. Zane Lowe has evidently done his homework! :-)
as someone who interviews people on a regular basis, I found "some" of his questions to raise an eye brow now and then, and The Boss seemed a bit guarded, but as the interview went on, you can hear that Bruce thinks there are some good questions. He complimented the interviewer at the end. But, no one came here to to hear Zane Lowe, we came hear to hear Bruce. Maybe dial it back a bit Zane, and check your ego. The problem is it feels a little inauthentic. Anyone that has listened to Zane's radio shows knows he is no Springsteen fan. Zane is a very talented DJ and has contributed to the music industry in ways similar to John Peel. But on this occasion, Bruce deserves better.
@@SteveGuion He was popular on BBC Radio 1, presenting and giving a platform to new music (Kassabian is a good example here). But, I never once heard him ever play a Springsteen track or express his appreciation of him.

Bruce is allowed he's 70 why not he's had a decent head of hair all his life, not like he was bald at 35 like Elton John who had a transplant 30 years ago. Maybe Van Zandt don't care some people don't when they reach a certain age anyway Stevie is rarely seen without a Bandana on his head which suits him just fine. Wayne Rooney had hair transplantat 25.
For those of you who didn't like the interviewer-perhaps words of more than one syllable are too difficult...I thought he was articulate and put forth intelligent comments and questions-much better than the usual "music interviewer" who often seems more like a fawning teenage fan...

Zane Lowe, inexperienced?? You clearly haven't done your homework! Yes, there were times he used 50 words when he could have used 10, but the questions were thoughtful and Bruce clearly responds to him really well. Great interview.
Springsteen is always interesting to listen to. But this interviewer is terrible. Pandering hipster clown dressed in a black Apple outfit. Spends way too much time blowing hot air, telling Bruce what he thinks, and drawing attention to himself. Where do they get these people?
He looks like they went to some NY fashion show for the new men's clothing line and pulled him off the runway. Clearly knows nothing about Bruce and very little about music. Bruce needs to be interviewed by a musician, a songwriter, someone who has been listening to him since 1972. Show Bruce some respect.
