its a hull of an M60 with a turret of an M48. the add armor modules where to heavy for the M60 turret. the engine is a new 910hp diseal with new fire control and thermic night vision.
Tanks have a large amount of wheels in order to distribute the weight of the tank on the ground so the tank won't sink in mud, the more wheels the tank have, there is less weight on each wheel and larger area of the track that touches the ground, which also add friction and traction. So to answer your question, this tank have 6 wheels(on each side) because the engineers who designed it calculated this is the best amount of wheels that will give the best weight distribution while keeping the tank relatively light, 5 most likely won't be enough(on this type of tank).
thank god that the 401st did their own tank service, that is why they were awarded the merkava 4 siman 4 , we where able to tread faster than the mechanics on our own
Magach - one of my favorite tanks. Thanks for video.
I miss this but damn, you find out who your friends are when it's time to replace 180 track pads, then lead the track back on :)
no tack pads in here. its a Merkava mk3 tracks.
Good
nice work! those are not the typical US made tracks!
they are Merkava tracks. the Magach is a hybrid of M60, m48 mk2 and mk3.
A sensible tank for reserve employment.
Seeing this: Thank you Diehl for making trakcs that are easier to maintain :-D
It's still a viable weapons system, good gun reliable easy to use.
Big. Heavy. Dirty. A made-to-order recipe for glamor, So the Magach is really based on the forty-year-old M60?
+pinz2022 yes it was but with gal systems and the artichoke we are still able to out gun ,an Abrahams tank

@@punicwars2 didn't know it was a m48 turret.
@@davidquak4398 yeah... its kind of a Frankenstain monster...
Very Nice tank. If we upgraded our Leopard 1s we could actually counter the russians somewhat.
this is a silly question but why are tank 6 wheels? why not 5 to save some extra wheels

I miss doing that...
That was fun and nostalgic

changing the tracks is the crew job.
This is the Magach 7C with Module and ERA armor right.
How much is this tank in 2022 for foreign country??
О щет май гад, ворет кунем!🆘️👺
Would it be faster is you do both tracks at the same time ;-)
a loss of treads leaves a mobile tank as useleless as a howitzer ,
hope u never come under artilery fire.
