EMU Rescue by WDM3D at Hooghly

- It was 37232 down Bandel Howrah local which failed at around 9 AM in the morning when it was about to depart Hooghly. Since then, it occupied the reverse track for the next couple of hours until the old horse of Howrah Diesel Shed, WDM-3D, #11296 came from Bandel siding for the rescue. Now-a-days, one ore two diesel locomotives are always available at Bandel for shunting duties. This time the chief foreman directed to bring one of them from Bandel to take the failed EMU rake back to Bandel. Finally it came and rescued the poor EMU. A unique sight for all of us and a memory to cherish forever.
We may go for upgradations and enhancements and technologies wherever applicable, but we need to fall back to the elders to save us from crisis. This is what I realised that moment.

Thats why I am always against giving this warhorses to neighbouring nations for free. They are the most effective in newly laid railway routes and when electric fails you.
Yeah they should stop giving it to Bangladesh if they are old instead they should preserve it in India or use it for shunting purpose

ALCOs may be more than 7 decades old and technically not efficient and modern compared to newer locos.But nothing to beat them on reliability and availability on demand.

15:03 I am seeing for the first time an EMU local train, very very useful for local,urban and semi urban residents, office,school goers halted because of strange failures. I have seen, witnessed,experienced the WAPs failures on the main lines owing to engine failures. Now our INDIAN RAILWAYS have taken a high level policy decision of total electrification of the entire length and breath of our railway lines. They should think of disaster, failures management of WAP/WAG locomotives on the mainlines and highways. Imagine! What will happen to Shatabdi locos and Vandhe Bharath failures on the main lines? You can see number of diesel locos condemned, ready for disposals near K R Puram loco shed near Bangalore city. It is on Bangalore-Jolarpettai line.

One guy working, a dozen standing-by, hands-on-hips. You notice how the EMU doesn't have a coupler? That's strangely "this will work - always".
I wondered why,there was no MCB drop coupler,as all the coaching
The leading motor coach must not have to be installed a coupler & MCB
Why they couldn't use electric loco for this purpose? All the lines in the Kolkata area are electrified. The station in the video, hooghly, has electric traction.
@arunsubramanian8162 The next station is Bandel junction which usually possess a couple of diesel loco for shunting at its yard. That's why the chief foreman supervising the incident ordered to bring one such loco for the rescue operation.
