Been working all my life to eventually have a pool in a garden and here is Mr.T with his mega training spa in his awesome pain cave...👏👏👍jealous but a super proud fan and follower. Well deserved and keep up the great work.
Would still like to know how you are going to deal with the high humidity and potential mold that can form behind the walls and ceiling. Do you have a dehumidifier or ventilation system?
Joe Moya exactly what I was wondering. Especially in Central Canada where there are some insane temperature variations. As long as there is an exhaust vent constantly running it is probably okay. Didn’t see one though. 😯
@@steveross9459 I don't think he realizes this problem - yet. Indoor pools and Jacuzzi's are a problem in dryer and less cold environments much less that far north. The further north you go, the greater the difference between indoor and outdoor temperatures resulting in LOTS of condensation problems. This is especially true when you have a HUGE container of chlorinated water sitting in your building.
If you didn't already know, you can make really inexpensive sound panels that perform at professional levels out of Owen Corning and some fabric. They can sit in the corners of the room and knock down a ton of echo.
Taren please follow up with a swim spa specific workout video, I’ll be getting mine installed in the next month and can find very little content for training in one.
You mentioned air quality... With the pool, you may want to monitor humidity and dehumidify if needed. Aside from humidity, you may want to ventilate to maintain good air quality especially in a workout room. Look at ERV and HRV for energy/enthalpy or heat recovery ventilation to maintain room conditioning while greatly improving your air quality through ventilation.
Sweet set up! I’d love a video on how it looks like the pros sit on the very nose of their saddles. All the new Kona pics suggest they utilize maybe 15% of the saddle. Is your bum that far forward taren?
Absolutely the best way - I was checking comments before I posted same. A horizontal bar (just put up a chin up bar) that allows you to adjust the lateral distance between rings. Way more flexible for different uses. Beats eye hooks or any other system.
I bought the Bike book recently and the wife just downloaded the swim techniques book ,both absolutely loving each book and soon going to swap , separate question pal do you take any of what would be your race day nutrition when training ? . I’m about to just start my 33 week prep for Ironman UK Bolton so at the moment I’m like a sponge soaking up as much information/tips as possible .TIA for any extra help
A suggestion for the indoor air quality - look up the NASA clean air study and pick up a few of the common house plants they suggest for the pain cave. Various Ivy and fern species are very effective at filtering toxins from indoor air. 🍀☘️
Hi! Just want to ask what’s the distance of your TV and bike? Does being in that distance from the TV while doing indoor cycling hurt your eyes? I’m also planning to lessen the distance of my bike and the trainer to save up space. Thanks in advance. :)
Loving the new Pain Cave Taren. After i saw Lional Sanders had a swim spa in his Pain Cave. I did wonder how long it would take for you to convince NTK that you needed one. But nice to see you have one. When is the first indoor Triathlon Taren Triathlon or sprint or mini triathlon? Will you do a full race indoors or just practice each discipline individually . Liking the Bike and Treadmill setup. I have recently got in to running on my treadmill after seeing your video about the footpod and doing couch to 5k on my treadmill. Then finding out about zwift as well. I am now in new found hobbies heaven. Also just got a stryd as well. So been having fun with that as well. I have a tv setup directly at head height in front of my treadmill so i can see it as i run. I enjoy switching to camera 3 and running with that view. You should try it on the bike. I would be curious what you think. Keep up the good work and good luck getting to Kona
Taren, I am not expert in hanging rings, but I do know a lil bit about construction. My guess is that your roof is built up by some plywood and some wooden beams? Make sure your roof is strong enough. It isn't calculated for that extra force that comes with you doing some excersizes (I would take some advice from a local constructor if you are quite unsure)... Would be a shame if you need to train in an open roof pain cave, wouldnt it?
Love the new space Taren! Wish my wife would let me do that to our garage lol would be cool if you showed a side by side comparison of the old pain cave with new? Just a thought
Great set up👍 The swim spa looks amazing, Probably out of reach for most folk though. I was looking for a link in the description to the squat rack. If you were an amazon affiliate, folk could support your channel when they made purchases? Good luck with the new and improved pain cave👍👍
Very impressive! How did you get the swim spa inside? Did it fit trough the garage doors or did they assemble? Also, it's not complete without the poop pillow!
I think the weight gain my be from that IronVegan Gainer formula you talked about one time. I gave it a try and gained about 3 pounds in a couple of months. I have cut it back and everything is back to normal.
Congratulations! Amazing set up! Question - Do you think that your bike/tv set up is a bit close to the swim spa? I hope you don't have issues with splashing coming over the side from your swim workouts.
I must have that pool!!!! When I make what will likely be our final move to settle down I’m looking to get an exercise pool. I hadn’t heard of that make and after reading up on it it seems very nice. Only problem: finding the bloody price tag!!! No I don’t want to give you my information just to get a quote. Just give me the price!!!!
Oh excellent!! Thanks for the response...and no joke. I will probably strongly consider your pool as I really like how it looks. Do you deliver to Idaho?
I see you are still using the Climb. Just watched your review from 2018 again as I try to decide on climb... in it you said the true test is if you continue to use a piece of kit beyond reviewing it. So now 18 months later... is the Climb still worth it? Is the $600 worth it for the 'normal' rider?
Why couldn't you have put it outside? I imagine it is nice to have it inside as it will add some humidity to your space or not. Also helps to maintain easier too. Nice pain cave.
Regarding the rings, to have good middle and upper body strength you need to do some muscle ups in rings, it should help you to stay body tight and strong.
HONEY?!?!?!? Can we convert our garage into a pain cave??? What?? We need all of the space for storage?? Can we build a second story onto the garage so we can have more storage so I can have a pain cave?? No?? Oh rats. Time to build ANOTHER shed in the backyard :D
Been watching these videos for years. You deserve all the good vibes. Go get Kona!!!!!!!

Hard work has paid off !!!! Nice to see.
An awesome “pain cave” Taren. Congratulations!
I'm officially jealous :P
Best Paincave seen so far, this thing is huuuuge 😍
Looks awesome! My #1 source for all things Tri!
Love it!! Have pain cave envy.. looking forward to seeing the new content
Awesome setup. And so necessary for Winter-peg.

This may explain the poor IAQ. Now with the pool (chemicals and humidity) some fresh air ventilation is almost a must.
has Greta Thunberg seen this set-up? ;-)

@@mikehammersley3489 Poor IAQ will be first noticed when his glasses fog up indoors while he bikes or runs.
What an amazing pain cave Taren! Be very proud!
Aren't you so SO GLAD you had this spa installed last fall before quarantine?!? WOW! JEALOUS! ;-)
COuld you let me know the make / brand of the rubber flooring rolls - thank you. :-)
Jap... also jealous!
How are u going to keep your Kickr dry during a intense swim in the pool? I guess spillage will happen here.
Moe Dieni my OCD cringed seeing that too!
If you didn't already know, you can make really inexpensive sound panels that perform at professional levels out of Owen Corning and some fabric. They can sit in the corners of the room and knock down a ton of echo.
Hi - awesome set up. What is the make of the floor material please and does it add to insulation? Thanks

"I can read despite living in Canada" haha
I run an Apple TV for Zwift. Love that I can switch over to any of my streaming services if I have a long ride and get bored of Zwift.
Jealous yet happy for you :D Thx for the ideas, I may upgrade my own cave bit by bit.
I believe you have 💵 issue with building the trainacs platforms...🤔 looks everything more than fine now, good to you Taren, thanks for sharing.
Woodway treadmills are awesome for avoiding injury. If you contact them you can get a refurbished brand new one for much cheaper. Awesome space
So cool. Awesome setup! Congrats on getting it put together
Taren, please shoot over the link where you got that rubber matting in rolls. That would be huge
I expect some more age group podiums. Haha, for real, awesome setup!
re: rings... I hung a pull-up bar to the ceiling and use it to hang the rings from. My kids use them more than I do... but the setup works.
Absolutely the best way - I was checking comments before I posted same. A horizontal bar (just put up a chin up bar) that allows you to adjust the lateral distance between rings. Way more flexible for different uses. Beats eye hooks or any other system.
An amazing setup. So jealous.
Looks good. Think the bike might be a bit close to the pool for splashing water.
Just don't do butterfly and you're good :D
Wow just wow... Now that's an amazing space
Sweet digs! Grt set-up 👍

Hey man - love your videos . What’s the spec on your garage door. Looks very impressive. Does it ever open?
Looks brilliant, give it another year and you will be building on again
I have a spot carved out for trainer and my treadmill under the basement stairs , between the cat box and hot water heater. Yours is nice too....lol

Wow that place is truly awesome!
Get an apple Tv and hook that up with Zwift. Bluetooths to your kickr and run it off the tv, works effortlessly!

Wow! Really awesome! But why a PC? AppleTV 4K would be way cheaper but just workin great out of the box...
Did you put the rubber flooring on top of the foam you already had or did you lay the rubber directly on the concrete?
Great set up👍 The swim spa looks amazing, Probably out of reach for most folk though.

Like it will you do conversion for the swim workouts for those of us ruth swim swim spa?
So how do you actually know how far you have swum in the swim spa? Or do you not know and need to just go by time?
Jealous ... but your videos and tips are really good ... so you derserve it 😁 Greetings from the world's best triathlon (Domi)nation Germany 💪
Well in long distance cause spain has dominated for a decade in the wts
how much does one of those master spas cost?
Congratulations! Amazing set up! Question - Do you think that your bike/tv set up is a bit close to the swim spa? I hope you don't have issues with splashing coming over the side from your swim workouts.
What are the dimensions of the building? Please and thank you.
I reckon you should do tee shirts with the ‘Triathlon Taren World Headquarters’ on.
Who makes the padded step you are on right in the beginning when you are showing off the pool?
Did you install a seperate HVAC with dehumidifier, at what temperature did you set it at.
What kind of rubber is the floor and where can you get it ?
very nice set up
So damn jealous.. nervous about that TV next to the pool though??

Bike book ordered. Can’t wait
Do you know the square footage of your pain cave?
Hey Taren . Do you ship your gear to Europe? Greetings Ferry from Denmark
Reeeealy good stuff.
Only question furnace not on the floor - not the smartest thing to do
Looks gangsta, Taren!
Why couldn't you have put it outside? I imagine it is nice to have it inside as it will add some humidity to your space or not. Also helps to maintain easier too. Nice pain cave.
Elaine Nilsson Winterpeg - Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada is 1) cold AF in the winter and buggy in the summer.
@@AvailableThisis That's a good reason, lol
Im jealous. Pain Cave on POINT

So when is Zwift Swim comming ?
Great set up just be careful with the spa chemicals as they are very corrosive and will start to rust corrode the hinges.
Lemme get one of those hoodies buddy!! Great video
pain cave goals

Can anyone please post what he got for the Floor Mats ? I didnt see him respond to multiple requests or at last i do not see him reply.
Thanks
Taren, what temp you keep the pool at?
Very exciting!!
Sweet gym set up. I would invest in making it a bit more secure...you live in winnipeg after all.
I am sure he has a Rottweiler on 24/7 duty! And the police on speed dial. 😆
Your lucky lucky lucky! When can I move in? With all that investment, MTK should get into triathlon :)
what's the full dimensions of the building ? just curious.
I always heard Proform is Walmart garbage...how many miles have you put on that?
pool is a little close to the kickr and tv I'd think. Other than that this place is amazing!
NICE CAVE !! BUT IS IT SAFE TO SWIM ALONE ??
I need get a RUclips channel.
“Their not paying me, but I just let them set this up.” Lol
Splash from pool onto bike?
Rapid Reboot compression- better than Normatec - is that why you hide it?
are you worried about water splashing on tv / bike?
So cool!!
I just got a MyRun from Technogym and it is definitely worth the cost!
AWESOME PLACE!!!!!
Is the brick wall paper or brick panels or real?
Would you swim there by yourself? Sounds dangerous
You should do full Ironman race in your cave only😃
For your PC look at getting a raspberry pie extremely small with massive capabilities
Awesome 👏
Why not put the shoes near the door? 😅
