    Thanks for the video,
I have a question, on your experience what's the best option for me ? I just have a cup of Americano a day ( no cappuccino or..no milk) .
What kind of espresso machine do you recommend to me under $1500?
And what kind of grinder under $600 ?
    Thanks again.

So this is the profitec MaraX?

Yes and No. I wanted a small E61 and the choice was Mara X or Profitec 400, I visited the dealer and side by side though the size is similar you can see the difference with Profitec far superior build quality, in the UK as the X was on an offer there was fairly large price difference. The X probably has superior temperature control which provides a no flush shot and also a steam boost after pulling shots to rapidly build pressure. The 400 has a switch to select 3 temperatures, cool which means no flush, medium where depending how long it's been on you might need to flush and hot where you will. The pressure increases with each option. It has a smaller boiler than the X so you likely won't be pulling shots for the neighbourhood but it does warm up and recover very quickly, even on the low setting it steams milk quickly and doesn't run out but I find it difficult to get microfoam, my poor technique I suspect as it was fine at the retailer. The coffee is great though even if it doesn't have a work of art on top, however, that might have something to do with the Niche Zero. Apart from lack of latte art I'm very happy with the machine, it looks good and the coffee tastes really good even with cheap beans. If you can see the X and 400 side by side you really can see the difference but it depends how important the better temperature control is to you, I doubt I could tell the difference between shots a few degrees apart.

@@SurreyAlan Hi, I am considering the 400 pro. I've never had a heat exchanger. Do you leave it on all day? Do you drain the boiler daily? Are you still loving the machine? Any tips you could give?

My first heat exchanger too. I only have one cup a day so its not left on,takes about 20 minutes to warm up and use 0.3kw/h to get up to temp, make a coffee and steam milk, when left on it doesn't seem to use much. I picked this machine over the X as in the flesh it looked a lot better made, something I was happy to have in my kitchen and could be filled with water without pulling it out from under cabinets. I think the main thing for good coffee is the grinder and almost any machine at this price point will produce decent coffee. The 400 has a small boiler so you won't be pulling lots of shots though it does recover very quickly. The X I think is better in that respect with bigger boiler and a larger element. I usually fail with the microfoam and find I have to put the temp switch to high, even then the pressure falls off very quickly, here the X would be better but it suits me and my usage. With one cup a day my supplier said I'd only need to backflush with cleaner and relube every 6 months. I backflush about once a week and clean the shower screen about once a fortnight, it's hardly dirty. I gather you don't need to drain the boiler very often, I drain some off every couple of weeks. I have a niche zero which is a great no mess grinder. If you have the funds and space then the Bianca looked much better made than the X but then you also have a double boiler, probably depends how serious you are about coffee, so long as its better than the high street and easy to do in the morning that's all I want.

@@SurreyAlan Thank you for the detailed response. Much appreciated. I'm upgrading from a gaggia classic that I've had for years. Basically, want a better made boiler and a machine that can entertain a few guests. I agree, grinders are super important. I just purchased a Specialita a few months ago. It's been a dream. Loved the Niche Zero but it was impossible to find where i live. Wish i could see the steaming in action. Surprisingly, there aren't a lot of pro 400 vids yet.

@@alexballar im in a similar spot as you. I also have the gaggia classic pro and bought a eureka mignon silencio earlier this year. I did end up buying the pro 400 and its being delivered tomorrow. The Mara x just in my opinion doesn't look very nice. Even better temp. control would of course be nice, but coming from the gaggia I think i'll be more than happy with the pro 400. But I too wish there were more videos on it! Its a pretty new machine though so I get it.
