Avoid FUE and STRIP Donor Decimation. Be Careful to Preserve Your Donor For Future Hair Transplants

  • Donor decimation is heart-breaking for Hair Transplant Patients. FUE is well documented that in the wrong hands, it can do severe damage to the donor and over a very large area. Usually the rear occipital is obliterated by doctors or technicians who have no real care about how they get the grafts, as long as they get them.
    Strip traditionally is more local and taken from a safe zone and leaves the rest of the donor usually in good condition as it takes from surface area everything in a defined zone. There are risks however of miniaturisation under a scar and also if taken too high it can become exposed as the patient crown and lateral humps can drop.
    Here we go inside the consultation room with Dr.#Bisanga.

    What do these clinics think the "safe zone" actually means, when they harvest from above it regardless?

    • @bhrclinic
      @bhrclinic  2 года назад

      I think at times it is hard to see the future and how the patient will evolve but caution is always needed even on Strip as due to the factors that the lateral humps can drop and also the scar can cause for some more miniaturisation in the donor.

    Hello BHR Clinic. I will come to you in June to do a FUT Scar repair. Is beard hair for the scar a good option also for the future when you get older? If we take the hair from the back of the head, is it possible to shave only a small part to farm the grafts? Regards Daniel

    • @bhrclinic
      @bhrclinic  Год назад +2

      Hi Daniel, thanks for the comment. Beard hair can work well to scar, obviously scar tissue has some avascularity so the approach is specific in terms of density placed and making sure to get good growth. If you are booked then please see your advisor for your case as they will have the audit trail and all info and will be happy to go into more detail for you and have all photos etc. So, don't hesitate to ask them for specifics as they will be the contact for you throughout your journey. All the best for your upcoming surgery also.

    i could argue the strip doesnt look bad i would take it over the moth eaten look that fue gives you

    • @bhrclinic
      @bhrclinic  Год назад +1

      Yet in the wrong hands it is universally bad over the donor and not local to the Strip zone, but we try not to label all FUE as this..good FUE will respect donor management and an educated extraction pattern. But yes a poor wide Strip or moth eaten FUE is down to poor surgery.

    Hey I need some details here. He got 7k Grafts from FUT grafts? Or FUE also? Or 7k from FUE AND 2x Strips?

      Thanks for watching. Prior to coming to us he had 7k taken via 2 Strips elsewhere.

      @@bhrclinic So he had 2 big strips (looks like hattingen strip to me) und went to norwood 7? Would you have taken the strips lower?
      I Mean he suddenly went Norwood 7 while it probaly would be OK if he stayed norwood 6 I guess.

    • @bhrclinic
      @bhrclinic  2 месяца назад +1

      @@christianmann5401 We cannot say who it was, this would be down to the patient himself to disclose but it was not the clinic you mentioned. The concern with Strips is to get more grafts some will dog leg them and can go high and you just need to keep in mind the fact that hair loss is progressive and also the potential trauma of the Strips on the donor. If taken from a non safe zone then the transplanted hair will drop and the Strip becomes also exposed. Best to go for less grafts and stay more centrally to ensure safety.

      @@bhrclinic the treatment with finasteride and minoxidil was not a solution to revive his donor areea?

    • @bhrclinic
      @bhrclinic  2 месяца назад +1

      @@alesancoeduard8947 Strip can cause a lot of trauma and shock and with 7k taken it is a large toll. It may help some of the quality of the hair but removing 7k from a donor is a lot and then in essence you lose surface area with the Strip and then close it twice as for this patient, so then the rest of the donor is then spread to compensate. Tightness and trauma can affect blood flow and it is common for some to miniaturize around the scar. Meds may give some stability but he still has had a considerable amount of grafts taken and more than most. Many thanks for watching!

    Hello dear I was forgotten to ask. What is doctors plan for this guy? Using beard hair for the scalp? Thanks!

    • @bhrclinic
      @bhrclinic  2 года назад +1

      We have used body hair as his scalp hair fell so pretty much all is now body hair. It will be up to the patient as to if he wants to add more but it is possible. He is a lovely man so we hope we can do more for him.
