    • @coppulor6500
      @coppulor6500 3 года назад +22

      @@crazyred50 he isn't getting ahead of himself. All he said was that they are a much changed/improved team. Which is true. I haven't seen the players play like that in years. Some coaches can instill that passion and are great leaders and Rivera is one of those guys. Not saying he's a strategic mastermind, but a HUGE difference. Or as Al Michaels would say YOOOOJ difference. I haven't really seen them play like that since Gibbs and Marty Schottenheimer. After an 0-5 adjustment period with Marty, they kicked ass (relatively speaking) and you could just feel that sense of team unity and intensity forming. Dan Snyder proved he knows nothing about what fuels victory when he fired him after only one season. The same kinda thing happened with Gibbs in his second stint. The sense of everything really coming together in his last season was palpable. He quit after that season because of personal family illness stuff etc and also Sean Taylor's death was rough on him.
      So, finally, a coach that appears to have the ability to inspire the players and unite and focus them with some intensity. that doesn't prove they will be wildly successful but to me, it proves we're firmly headed in the right direction. Also, good second-half adjustments - finally! And he did all this with a rotating QB roster and dealing with cancer himself. It would not be unreasonable to suspect that they could have been 9-7 with a decent starting QB who doesn't get injured.
      I think I speak for most fans when I say we're overall pretty pleased at how the season turned out given the situation and that we seem to have a real coach now.
      So all that should tell non-Washington fans how bad its been during the Snyder era.
      p.s. I didn't hate Gruden. He is just not a powerful, strong personality and the players liked him but they weren't inspired by him. I remember seeing a clip where he was leaving the locker room and one of the players poured some ice down his sweats or similar. everyone laughin' etc. I knew right then - no way these guys are gonna run through a brick wall for this man. And Gruden may just always be a solid coordinator etc or even a great one but he's too much of a marshmallow of a dude to be an NFL head coach. And maybe Gruden is a super cool guy (seems cool) and maybe most great NFL coaches are dicks lol but you're not hiring people to be your friend. I think Dan doesnt understand people so he hires friends. I'm still concerned that Rivera said during his initial press conferences, that he and Snyder agreed it would be a coach-centric environment or some such bullshit. I wanted to hear "I said I wanted completed control or no deal. so here we are" : )
