Can you imagine trying to pull Nolan Ryan, Roger Clemons or Tom Seaver in the same situation that Boone pulled Cole??? NO WAY any of those guys would walk off the mound in game 3 of the ALCS when you're down 2-0. The Mariners did the same thing in the previous series pulling their closer in Game 1; and the Phillies pulled Wheeler in the 6th inning of Game 6 of the World Series. Analytics doesn't measure grit, determination, heart and moxie. If Cole would have stayed with the Astros, he would have a WS ring, and a chance each year to win another one.

The NYYs like other teams rely on buying up players from other teams. The astros have shown that this no longer works. So keep it up and buy those expensive has been players. The Astros will keep on winning.

He then showed us what the Yankees were doing. The problem I have is that the cheating wasn't needed. They had the best road record in baseball that year. They were going to win pennant regardless. As a side note, for those thinking Altuve stole MVP from judge, there is evidence that he didn't cheat, and he also had the best batting average on the road in all of baseball that year. Look it up. Judge had homeruns, but his average was just that average. He doesn't run well and had a serious hole in his swing. That hole has been worked on, but Astros are still exploiting it in thr playoffs.

I've been so disgusted that I haven't listened to, or watched anything yankee related for the past few days, but it honestly is embarrassing that we all feel the same way, they've just continued to keep trying this strategy, its time for the guys who think they know what's going on in the front office to take a step back, and hire a brilliant manager and end this BS

The people who come up with the analytics keep saying that the numbers can't be changed. That means you put a guy who is a good match, and let them go. If you think you can make a change because of the situational opportunities that arise, you will only hurt the numbers of both pitchers. Because you cannot manipulate the system that way. That's the part nobody understands, because this is a subject beyond many people's ability to understand, like corporate types. This is science, and while it suggests a lot, it says absolutely nothing. The danger in playing with science comes when half smart people think their smarter than they actually are...

You know...in addition to the obvious changes that need to be made. Getting rid of Cashman, Boone, changing their approach with constructing a team and the analytics, rebuilding with youth.. there's something else in my mind that needs to change. That damn mission statement of "championship or bust." Look I get it they're the Yankees, most decorated team in sports, more championships than any team in the Big 4 I get all that. But the thing is..to go into every season thinking the World Series is a birthright is foolish. It's not guaranteed anymore like it once was. Majority of their past championships came in a time when there was less teams in the league. Teams are a lot more even now, every team has money, teams rely on analytics. I mean think about how there hasn't been a repeat champion in MLB since the 2000 Yankees. Sure a few teams have won back-to-back pennants (Philly in 2008-'09, Texas in 2010 & 2011, Royals in 2014 & '15, Dodgers in 2017 & 18, Houston these last 2. But no team has repeated as champs in consecutive years since the 2000 Yankees. I'm sorry but they have to change the mission statement. To always say it's "championship or bust" after all these years of failure makes em come across as liars to the fans. Now let's be honest, 13 years is rather tame in comparison to the 55 years the Giants went until 2010, or the 84 years for Boston in 2004 and 107 for the Cubs. Let's not pretend that mere 13 years comes anywhere close to that. Not by a long shot.
But you can't keep going into every season, promoting a championship and not even make it to the World Series let alone win the damn thing. So drop the mission statement. Yea I know it sounds fraudulent to even say but it needs to happen. They could have a historic regular season, amazing things could happen and because their own damn mission statement if they don't win a championship at the end of it then you can no longer enjoy whatever good things happened in the regular season. And ngl, personally if the Yankees really did win a championship every year? It would make the sport pretty boring
This season was better than those in the recent past. First place all year long, dominant first half, Judge surpasses Maris for the AL record. Finally win rhe division instead of settling for a wild card. Those were great things. Beats the hell out of the season the Red Sox had. Or the Mets or the Nationals and A's and Pirates etc.

    • @jmiller903
      @jmiller903 Год назад +1

And sometimes with the championship or bust statement comes awful decisions that stranglehold the team for multiple years, overpaying the wrong people to try and win. Id rather this team clean house and blow it up and play and develop all the young guys then another season of this. Just because you dont make the playoffs doesnt mean u are a losing organization. Chemistry is built when developing together and it can be rewarding watch young players improve themselves and the team and eventually get to the playoffs and try to win it all and thats when u can add to them to help. Also Just bcuz u make the playoffs most years doesnt mean you are doing it the right way or should be considered a top organization. (Anybody with this payroll should be able to make the playoffs if thats the only goal). Especially when out of all those appearances you cant make it to the final series. But the yankees cant seem to grasp that, probably because they dont care enough as long as they make money and clearly dont understand how to mesh the two (they can with the resources they have) and let young talent play, make mistakes, and develop along other top players at the major league level. The last 13 years teams are running circles around them even tho they make the playoffs alot. Just look at the astros, redsox, even rays, jeez even the phillies made it back to the world series before them. Just look around all sports the top organizations arent always in the playoffs. Its just when they are they have a good shot to win bcuz they have people in charge who know how to manage winning teams and get not as good teams into good teams relatively quickly. Cashman thinks its a good sign to never fire coaches midseason and have managers stay around a long time. Well Not if it leads to where they are now. He just makes arbitrary rules to make himself think he better than he is. Most teams, winning or losing, dont have the same head coach for all that long. Just look at the phillies this year again. Cashman has so many flaws its unbelievable how he still has his job. They need to let go of the past winning history when it comes to the future team successes. Like u said this is a whole new era, whole different leagues, most of that history came when things were so much different. They need their own new identity and personality and winning culture.

Judge only passed Maris because he cheated and used Goldilocks balls. The MLB also helped him by making sure if the pitch wasn’t thrown right down the middle it was called a ball. Judge is a bum and proves it every postseason.

looking back on this yeah the Yankees have been run poorly in big spots you're in a must win situation. and you take out your best pitcher for a guy that's good against the bottom order of a lineup and what happens you give up 3 runs makes no sense. you stick with your ace no matter what give Cole the opportunity to finish in that spot.

WOW, these guys need to relax. With so many good teams around how do they expect the Yankees to be in the WS every year? They are not the only good team. Now I can see how these Yankee players play under a lot of pressure from the owners, the media and the fans because, since they get paid a lot of money they should be in the WS by default, but it doesn't work that way. On the other hand the Astros were playing loose. They play so much under pressure that they don't even laugh (but Rizzo), it seems like they are not enjoying the game.

We made a trade to get rid of Sanchez last year, gave up Gio and got two clowns that can't hit, this team is regressing. If Judge is allowed to leave this team, there goes a large portion of the fan base, he is the one true Yankee on the team.

If the Yankees Don’t Built A Yankees Team To Beat The Astros, then it’s going to be another failing season. Yankees need to get two great starting pitchers like deGrom and Luis Castillo, if they are available or similar caliber pitchers. They need to bolster their Bullpen and get a great closer and great Short Stop. Yankees need to get 2-3 left handed clutch hitters. Fire 🔥 Cashman what he doing in last 13 year isn’t bringing a championship. Trade Giancarlo Stanton and don’t open the vault for Aaron Judge, let him walk. if he doesn’t accept a 7 year 225 million contract, then he’s not a real Yankee

The lineup is missing "life". DJ LeMahieu is a clone of Marcel Marceau; Gleyber Torres is very overrated and the other players know that; Judge needs to spit in his hands before he grabs his bat. He's too "quiet". Stanton, I think I can strike him out; Rizzo is like a talk show host in the dugout; Donaldson, is he gone yet? $$$? Pay part of his salary. What can they get for him? It's addition by subtraction; Hicks, very mixed up and someone will believe he can turn it around. Probably can get something for him in return. The catchers are good even though they are not great hitters. Harrison Bader looks like a keeper. So does Oswaldo Cabrera. Isiah Kiner-Falefa is a nice player and he can become a great back up player for third base and shortstop. I WANT MIGUEL ANDUJAR BACK TO PLAY LEFT FIELD. He will be totally healthy next year and hit .300 for wherever he plays. And he has aggressiveness in his manner which is contagious and that's exactly what the dugout is missing. He will not embarrass himself in left field. He dedicated himself to improving to the point he will be more than adequate.
Michael, you dislike Andujar and that's too bad.
Pitching? Bullpen is a mess. Starting pitching? Regular season starters okay. Post season starters? No chance to get to a World Series. This unit cannot match up with the teams in the playoffs who will have superior pitching.
Boone and Cashman? Like I've been suggesting, GET LIFE INTO THE LINEUP. Pitching? Need a No.1 starter, to start with!!!!! The organization will be okay if they get "the right players".

@@itscebby8882 My trick would be I have no speed and no stuff on the ball so he will start to laugh. The catcher needs to help by talking to Stanton. I'll float in two change ups (off my changeup !) and the ump will yell out, "Strike 2!" Now Stanton is pissed. So now I'll load up the ball with spit and 'hum' in a 65 mph eye high. "Swing and a miss!" Stanton breaks the bat over his leg. I head for right center field and my plan is to escape through a fire exit.
Btw, I like the SS. How about you. There's that energy I was talking about.
