see how she goes. silver cars front tires had very poor grip so it was very difficult to do the line the reverse way . like and subscribe for more volvo crusties
Drifts N' Lifts You're very welcome. But if you're gonna come to Sweden - you have to do it because of Vallåkra. As you might now, at least if you're on turbobricks, Vallåkra the huge Volvo meet in Sweden. 2017 will be the 35th anniversary so try to come over next year. :) Just ask me if you want help with anything. :)
Hes father could have had a divorce and remarried, so it would be hes stepmoms car. If your parents divorced, would you call your dads new wife your mom?
Dude great video no quirky bullshit and you know how to drive, i love it!! Just subscribed cant wait to see more.. Also the cinematography was very well done props to the camera dudes! :)
Hi Drifttss N Lifts, OMG LOVE ur video, i hope if you can make a tutorial for how to drift like you with auto rwds, please send me a link when you do, thanks man :D
you earned my sub, great video and skills furthur proof and myth buster kill you cab drift anything also DANM with an open diff and 114hp also stock suspension! this is inspiration!!
You can also use your brake pedal to help it a bit. When you throw your car from one direction into the opposite then step on the brake for a bit of a second. It will help to transfer your weight much faster and easier. Right after that step on the gas and let the magic begin. Don't forget to turn off ESP, DSC or whatever you have that keeps you straight and also keep the gear lever in sport mode with the desired gear already selected. If you want to increase your chances to break loose then inflate your wheels a bit more as usual. The harder they are the less grip they will have. Drifting an automatic is not as powerfull as it is with a manual where you can engage the clutch whenever you like and prepare engine torque prior to releasing the clutch but if you want to break loose just for fun every now and then then an automatic gearbox can offer you just as much the same fun. It is all about proper timing and speed.
And people in Finland are whining about open diffs and how hard it's to drift with a car with one.. On winter... Snow and ice is like 200-300hp more :DD Why did you spin out? -Because I have an open diff.. Seems legit xD
Cutting springs won't reduce body roll. Lowering the distance between roll centre and the centre of gravity reduces body roll. Bullshit advice like this kills people and causes accidents. Sick video though.
I remembered way back in the early 2000s, my dad had a 740 turbo that I did used to do hectic body loads scaring the piss out of my best friend 😂😅. Volvos are one of the few automatic cars you can do something like a drift.
hey i am just wondering , where are you from in canada? , i am from b.c chilliwack.( edit after watching the video i noticed richie bro actioneers and then rellized that you guys are also from the fraser valley!)
so what you’re telling me is that it is possible to whip shitties in my auto 4th gen z28 without putting it into a ditch as long as i have the right amount of skill
Snowvodka Do you have a 240? If so what year is it and what are your plans with it. I have a 89 240 DL and I don't know what I want to do with this thing but I know I want to have some fun with it.
its an e30 lcoker differential. anything over 30kms it locks up and both tires spin. thats my understanding. not all open diffs are capable of this... especially in fwd cars. i could be wrong. but that is what i know
Nope lockers weren't standard till 98. You can see from the burn out its clearly open as well. They're also called g80's idk where u got e30 from. the volvo lockers will also open up again at 80k unless you do some modifications. A locker also functions completely different mechanically than an open diff. or at least they have an absolute fuckton more parts and with the exception of the spider gears are designed completely different so I would never refer to a locker as an open diff and to be honest your the first person iv heard do so..
Hey dude can u do some turbo swap install videos and other just install videos on ur Volvo cars? I have a 740 turbo and want to mod it but just don't know how or where to start
How do you make rear fender look so nice and round on warrior wagon, 940 and that 740? also thumbnail is cool, i wish it had better quality for wallpaper use.
Dude slap a turbo on it. NA 240s (ones with b230s) make good power when they're boosted cause of the more aggressive cam! You can get a near stock turbo setup for like $250!
I'm going to save you guys time and tell you the answer: No you can't drift with an open differential. It's the same answer as no you can't lock the wheels with a manual handbrake no matter what shoes/springs/cables you fit. Life is too short to bother fucking around and not do things properly.
lol clearly didnt watch the video. no point in forking out the money for a lsd or going through the trouble to weld the diff if he isnt trying to run the car on a track. its just his beater car.
my buddy has the same 740 volvo and its amazing for field drifting haha best in the rain but his muffler ripped off on one of our drifts and now it sounds like a mean derby car
Drifting volvo 740 is what every Swedish 18 year old boy does. No need for power with no weight at the rear :).
We ueally start at 15
@@revolvolution7372 EPA traktor :P
@@boffe360 Aa
Isbil vid 10
Where do you do that? I have never seen anyone go above the speed limit (30km/h) :D :D
This is why I appreciate auto drifters, they still use olders methods of drifting. Weight transfers and throttle alone in 2nd or 3rd gear.
As a swedish Volvo fan it's great to see that also you americans know how to drive a 740. :)
Canadians ! but thanks. I'd like to come to Sweden one day
Almost every 18 year old car interested guy buys a 740 as first car
Tim Åkerblom
Yeah, like me for example. But I'm having a 940 now. In my opinion it's the best cars ever made.
Drifts N' Lifts
You're very welcome. But if you're gonna come to Sweden - you have to do it because of Vallåkra. As you might now, at least if you're on turbobricks, Vallåkra the huge Volvo meet in Sweden.

Greets from fin, Best nordic winter beater ever!
You can drift anything if you're good enough :P
my dad drifted his wifes fwd stock corolla lol
ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE
Hes father could have had a divorce and remarried, so it would be hes stepmoms car. If your parents divorced, would you call your dads new wife your mom?
Veksu545
yea i meant stepmoms corolla :D (i just wrote the comment and i didnt think about it)
FWD is not the same...
The 740 is sooooo much fun to drive on snowy roads, you can basically go sideways the entire trip, another fun car on snow is a 91-96 Chevy Caprice!
Thank you
Incredible! Swedish Volvo ragger salutes you!
Haha! De ä gött o vara volvo raggare

he needs to teach haggard garage how to drift
orion can drift good
@@heath1982 not as good as this legend
My mom drifts her Volvo 960 automatic wagon every winter when the streets are icy around the corners near our house :D It's the 3.0 I6 with 150 kW
Good on RUclips for suggesting this to me! I guess autos aren't always penalty boxes. Well done!
Can you be my dad
Randomly came across your video. I remember seeing you on Roads Untraveled. Good for you for drifting a unique choice of car.
Lol, it's the exact opposite of unique here in Sweden
thanks man
+Albin Lundgren JADÅ, men man kör ju AMG ;)
bro BC plates... Wu shirt... you got my sub ;)
so graceful! I never thought I could do that in the dry with my stock ass 940t, you're making me want to try it..
Pretty amazing driving! I don't know how you can do that so well without crashing the rear end into the concrete dividers!
I know bodyroll is bad but it looks so good when you see that thing sway over when you transition the drift bit at 1:59
haha i agree man you can really see the g force transfering over in it , looks pretty hilarious
Are these cars as bulletproof as they look? lol.
yes sir haha
Volvo 740 is pretty much the definition of bulletproof
i know a guy that puts ethanol in his stock 740 2.3 and it goes like a rocket :D
Yup
so there is a myth like that? Strange.
Didn't notice that in my previous 540ia :)
Show us how much of a difference a welded diff would do on an Automatic ;)
A lot. I would say that welded diff auto drifts better than open diff manual.
+Pr3dator SvK agreed
Even with super long gears?
I hated the look of the 740's when they came out. Now.... I like them better than most new car out now.
That's some nice driving! Cheers from BC.
can you drift it with "D" or locked gear, like 2 or 3 or something
i fucking love Volvo 740! But WAGON!!!! Greeting from germany
after watching the first 7 seconds of this video I say it was made for no reason......
Dude great video no quirky bullshit and you know how to drive, i love it!! Just subscribed cant wait to see more.. Also the cinematography was very well done props to the camera dudes! :)
Obviously he has experience drifting cuz I would mess around but would try drifting like that unless I felt comfortable with my driving skills
scandinavian flick
Safest way to drift? Drift a Volvo:)
You know its a volvo when u got the oilcan in the back of the seat

How many coils have you chopped out the springs?

HYPE WARRIOR!! thanks dude , yea it's all in the aggressive weight transfer !
Hey uh how do I get my hands on a turbo model? The closest thing I can find in San Diego is a 740 GLE.
what rims are those they look totally wicked.
the rear rims on the silver 740 turbo are called ion alloys style 171 , they are 16x8 -5 offset
+Drifts N' Lifts mint dude, thanks for replying.
i think volvos are coolest cars ever
each time your about to drift you change gears what do you go to D to 3 or 2 or 3 to D ?
can you explain in steps how to drift an automatic , rwd car without an e brake ?
You can also use your brake pedal to help it a bit. When you throw your car from one direction into the opposite then step on the brake for a bit of a second. bad ass!
This is amazing. I own a merc 300e and planning to build it for drifting even it is automatic. I learned a lot watching this. Thank you.
w124 is AMAZING. 2x 400e owner here
I beat my w124 300e to all hell. that car was a tank it's still running just not as smooth....

Wait is this in the Fraser valley. I live in chilliwack haha. This is right by there
do you have any advice on turboing a na 90 240 as cheap as possible
finding a turbo parts car is the easiest way.
obviously you haven't been to sweden, every one is drifting the shit out of Volvo740 Gl/Glt/turbo haha, even wtih the open diff :P
What if you push too much throttle and it switches to higher gear? Would it not mean power loss = drift fail ?
Edgars Ļebedevs I leave it in the second gear position on the automatic tranny so it stays in second gear
dat body roll
do it with open diff front wheel drive automatic and a foot parking brake
hey i am just wondering , where are you from in canada? , i am from b.c chilliwack.( edit after watching the video i noticed richie bro actioneers and then rellized that you guys are also from the fraser valley!)
Thomas Hansen chilliwack born and raised my friend

My grandmother had a Volvo 740. If only she hadn’t sold it for an Altima 😪

i have a volvo 240 gl from 93, im not sure yet but im thinking about turboing it
I think I've owned about 14 Volvo's and all of them have been 740s , haven't owned a 240 before . theyre cool but I prefer the 7/9 series
These US fronts looks amazing, much better than the original EU fronts, coming from a Norwegian.
auto drifting is to dangerous honestly like yeah it can be done but like dam potential roll city
can i drift my four speed automatic merc 190e 109 bhp??
you can get over 400 dollars for de headlights here in Sweden ;)

volvo 740 come only with original block diff 20%
ayy, amaizing I have super fat tires on my 945 GL. it wont drift... but I bought myself a 740 wiff B230et c: its a rad thingy
Its insane how cheap you can get these volvos for. In sweden youll have to pay up to 700 dollars for the (USA front) headlights.. :O
I love that you show how to drift for automatic
Just realized you guys live in my city, dunno how I've never seen you around before. Shiet.
The front and usa headlights are worth very mutch in sweden, you Can sell them for around 50-70 dollars IF they are nice!
Yes any rwd auto can if u got the balls an no mechanical sympathy hahaha
First was horse, à racing is amazing for see that. arabic horse is more than Ferrari
The 740 has a Visco Diff so "open diff" is incorrect.
its an e30 lcoker differential. anything over 30kms it locks up and both tires spin. thats my understanding. not all open diffs are capable of this... especially in fwd cars. i could be wrong. but that is what i know

automatique so for give you limite because human crazy
Volvo 240 upwards is my dream project car
Plz can someone import those front lights to sweden, ill pay ya

So you can only drift on a back wheel but not front wheel or all wheel
automatique because car , all of pièce of automatique car when you use it , give you max of production,
How did you manage to burn rubber in that thing? Brake in full throttle? My 740 na can't skid from a stand still for the life of it
really shitty tires haha
Unlike most your not afraid of throwing the fuck out of it
I drift a 2000 Tahoe it was my first rwd platform lol

How do you make rear fender look so nice and round on warrior wagon, 940 and that 740? also thumbnail is cool, i wish it had better quality for wallpaper use.
a steel mallet and lots of banging haha !
how long did it take u to learn how to drift?
so when u drift on a auto, what gear do you leave it in? my car has 1 2 d, and lol can a 94 camaro z28 drift?
I leave it in (2) and go to town with the steering and gass. I don't see why your Camaro couldn't drift
Those grey grain hopper cars on that train where built at the factory i work at national steel car in Ontario canada
I love your videos bro! I have an automatic 89 240 DL stock that won't burnout for shit. Any suggestions?
When u hit the first curve the license plate got straight
im going to get a 740 turbo because of u ! right now i have a volvo 240 gl no turbo
Dude slap a turbo on it. NA 240s (ones with b230s) make good power when they're boosted cause of the more aggressive cam! You can get a near stock turbo setup for like $250!
+Bob Sagit You gotta love that kind of bolt on system
well i have been thinking about doing that, but im alittle sceard it wont be as reliable if i turbo it
How so will it not be reliable? My 95 940 wagon (b230ft) has over 400k miles on the clock, it's the most reliable car I've ever owned!
well im not sure, im kindof new to working on cars so i don't know if it wont be as reliable, but im probebly going to do it anyways

My dad used to drift his volvo estate along time before "drifting" was a thing.
It was called power sliding then.
I'm going to save you guys time and tell you the answer: No you can't drift with an open differential. It's the same answer as no you can't lock the wheels with a manual handbrake no matter what shoes/springs/cables you fit. Life is too short to bother fucking around and not do things properly.
