  • I just got my hands on this new jig from Bohning, I wanted to skip the reading instructions part, so I did a search on RUclips and couldn't find anything. SO, I figured I would make a short video to quick start anyone looking how to use it.
    The jig base is constructed of stainless steel with all stainless steel hardware.
    Both arrow retainer and nock receiver adjust up and down maintaining equal pressure from tip to tail.
    They are inserts for both vanes and feathers. The 3° inserts have a max vane length of three inches, other inserts will accommodate fletch up to five inches in length. It comes with adapters for Cross Bow bolts with and without Nocks.
    Clamp inserts: Black 3° RH | Red 1° RH | Purple 3° LH | Orange 1° LH | Green 2° LW (feathers) | Blue 2° RW (feathers)

    Thanks for the video Dan. I bought that jig when it 1st came out. I use it 4 fletch/90* with a 2* left offset on my micro arrows. I gave a buddy a bunch of Blazer vanes & a Blazer jig. I'm a Bohning guy & I use the 1 & 3/4" X3 Bohning vane. The jig is pretty precise but my advice is to set it up right & don't touch it. Cleaning the clamp with the Acetone is a good tip. 👍

    Looks like a great jig and I’m definitely gonna have to check out those vanes. Thank you for doing a very detailed instructional video. It helps answer a lot of questions and I am very excited to start fletching my own arrows.

    I’ll definitely get one. Ya it may take a little longer but still 5 minutes per arrow at most so u still could do a dozen arrows in less than a hour

      @@jrd8640 there are jigs that can do 3-6 arrows at the same time if you want to save time but as you said this is more than enough

    Nice Job. As usual instructions that came with jig are written for someone who already knows how to use it.

    Idk why this jig has so many crappy reviews. It's so dang easy and quick and fool proof. Never had one issue with mine going on 3 years.

  • @alsmith7316
    @alsmith7316 2 года назад

    This jig works pretty well, but it has its issues. First of all, the packaging is lacking and the frame can get bent out of shape a bit. Mine was bent a bit, but I just carefully bent things back into "as good of" alignment as I could get it. I used a small sqaure and just got the primary surfaces perpendicular and/or parallel to each other. Also, the screw holding that knob on can be frustrating. However, once you figure it out it is pretty easy. There are three alignment points for it. First is the key/notch on the shaft, the other two are small tabs on the outside edge of the knob. If you align all 3 of these it goes together with ease. If you don't you will have to fiddle with it until you accidentally get things aligned. I like using this much more than EZ Fletch. Yes, the EZ Fletch is quicker, but how much quicker? I waste a lot of time shifting vanes back and forth, and most of the time I get vane shift as I close it up. The EZ fletch can be frustrating to use. This thing works well once setup.

      Did you use a four fletch? I had great success using a four fletch on micro diameter vap elites. Granted i was shooting a smaller diameter cut fixed blade broadhead but it was money out to 70 yds. Used a grim reaper micro hades pro i believe, 3 blade

    Fyi, the Arizona ez fletch jig instructions literally say to soak the arms in acetone to remove glue

    Looks like a pretty slick system. I may have to pick one up. Let us know how the Heat vanes work with fixed heads please. I did not get enough stability with them for broad heads and went to the AAE stealth vanes last year. Loved the heat for field points though.

    Great vid. I watched it several times because I am interested in that jig. I did see a really negative review on Lancaster’s site saying the tolerances were bad and his vanes kept falling out of the vane mounting bracket and that he couldn’t get a consistent fletch. You didn’t seem to ha e ANY trouble. Did you edit negative stuff out? Or, did you do something prior to filming that made it look so easy. I need a new jig and want to feel reassured before dropping the $ since they are fairly pricy! If you could reply that would be awesome. Thanks

    • @ElkShape

      Video was my first time using the jig. I had zero issues and I am no expert. I have fletched a lot of arrows in my life though - my only complaint is having to do one vane at a time versus an Arizona EZ Fletch where I can get 3 done at a time. Have not seen other videos on it so I cannot speak to negative reviews. My strength is transparency/honesty for the good or bad of any product.

      Thanks man appreciate u taking the time. I’m looking at this jig because I had issues with my ez fletch where it was not putting enough helical one one vane and I was getting some sets where one vane was about 1/8” - 1/4” in front of the other two. Maybe me but I hate doing things twice and hoping for different results. Can be $!

    Shoot BARE SHAFT from 5 yds and see if clockwise or counterclokwise your arrow rotation is.. ..MARK YOUR ARROW WITH A SHARPIE ... This will determine what type of fletcjing will be more accurate..Clockwise right offset or helical//counterclockwwise LEFT helical or offset...Randy Ulmer has a video

    If this jig actually doing helical or just offset? Kinda confused from videos I have seen. The other question is can the fletch be moved accurately from the nock or is it a static distance?

    How does this work with different diameter arrows? With the turning and clicking it seems as thought the spacing would be off just a little on a 5mm arrow compared to a 4mm arrow?

    • @ElkShape
      @ElkShape  4 года назад

      the turn is relative to degrees for example 3 turn is 120 degrees at a time.. We haven't fletched 4MM with it, although calling bohning they would know

      @@ElkShape you may have had better results with a four fletch. But what id really like to know is if youd recommended this jig. It definitely has some pros and cons but it also seems to be very versatile.

  • @Sertao2013

    Is there markings somewhere to know where to set the fletching into so its at the same distance from the nock ?
    Can you set any distance from the nock ?
    If you have the front and back set all the way to the top and its vanes are touching the arrow, how can putting a smaller arrow in with the other smaller nock insert going to allow the arrow to touch the vanes ?
    Is there a small front piece that the smaller arrow fits into that is higher than the one for bigger arrows ?
    If the piece that holds the vanes snaps into place a that means you can't adjust the vane to fit the arrow . The only way to adjust if the arrow comes in contact with the vanes is from the front and back adjustment on the stand .
    If you have the front maxed out and it can't go any higher how is a smaller arrow going to be able to touch the vanes ?
    This doesn't look like a multi fletcher to me it looks like a single fletcher . I thought multi meant more than one fletch at a time . Since when did multi mean one at a time ?

    • @ElkShape
      @ElkShape  4 года назад

      quick response (sorry lots of comments to get to) - it's probably called the multi-fletcher because you can do straight, off-set R or L, helical, feathers, etc... it comes with several attachments standard issue! Thanks!
