    Loved the vid, which really showed The Falklands at its very best. It certainly brought back some wonderful memories of the fantastic two days we spent there en route to South Georgia back in 2019 (first in West Falkland and the second day in Stanley and it's surroundings). It's the most amazing place and I will never forget it. Thanks. Peter

    Thanks very much! They certainly are beautiful and unforgettable islands & we were very fortunate to have such great weather - the previous day had been a big storm & we wouldn't have been able make port there. Would've loved to visit West Falkland too - maybe next time!😉

    The propellor was off the ship Atlantic Conveyor which sunk during the war with the loss of life and lots of equipment. I’m showing my age as I vividly remember all the reports coming back to uk in 1982.

    • @thelifeofreillytravels
      @thelifeofreillytravels  Год назад +2

      Ah thanks for the additional info! After I said "It looks like a plane propellor" Phil said: "No, Sharon, it's a ship's propellor!"🤦🏻‍♀️ but we didn't know which ship it came from!

    • @petittrainguernsey3297

      It’s a replica propellor. The real one is still attached to the Atlantic Conveyor.

      That same ship was constantly docked at North Canada Dock, Bootlle, Merseyside.. I used to look out of my bedroom at it and one day it was gone.. That was around 1982.. Obviously on it's way down south.. I was 12

      Thanks for watching! Yes, we only had a few hours onshore unfortunately and we knew Stanley would be extremely busy with 3 cruise ships in port that day. Since we prefer peace and nature we opted to get out of the city. Hopefully if we ever get a chance to return to the Falklands we can spend longer!

    Was down there in 82 on RFA OLNA in San Carlos water. Known as bomb ally. Also on RFA TIDESPRING two or three years later. I refereed a football match between merchant seamen and RAF. Sunny day then rain then big hail. Half time was early Came out 2 inches of snow called off. Also got conned flew out to Porto Rico joined Cunard Countess going guess where. Running troops from a really cold place up to Accension. Sorry rant.

    The lady Elizabeth IS a shipwreck as it was tied along side the port when its rope snapped during a heavy storm and it drifted into the shore in the night and got stuck on the sandbar and efforts to recover it didnt work.

    I was in the Falklands in 92. You’re correct. It does look like Scotland Shetland isles. On the other hand some people said it looked like Cornwall on England’s western coast.

      @T5Zplayer sorry for your suffering and your losses, obviously you're still hurting many years later.
