For our 40th Tune of the Day, my dad's joining me for a new feature: #SqueezeboxSunday! Now we'll be featuring fine accordion tunes each Sunday, like this one from New Brunswick fiddler Jerimiah Holland aka Jerry Holland's dad! That's right, the great Cape Breton fiddler Jerry Holland was actually French-Canadian! His mom was from Québec and his dad had, I believe, Irish and Acadian roots in Western New Brunswick in Acton. Anyways, this is a great unnamed tune that Jerry learned from his dad Jerimiah and it will be part of the Field Recorder Collective's upcoming massive 15 volume set of the North American Traditions series. Mark Wilson recorded Jerry playing this tune back in the day and we've been playing it for years at contra dances in the Pacific Northwest where it's a real heater of a tune!
