    I remember being 14 years old, crossing long lake in Maine. I was on a mxz 500 doing 80 thinking how gnarly it was.. then a thunder cat passed me and my group like we were standing still! ... you never forget that sound!!

      Crazy.

    My late uncle passed his cat down to my cousin, we went back and forth. I have my '02XCR and those Cats are no joke. We were working in the shop on my JAG440LT low gear logger(47mph radar).
    A kid came to our shop talking trash claiming he beats 1000cc sleds all day with his new 850 Polaris. He came in a few times, finally he said I got 1G that my XCR and that Pussycat can't beat me down the lake. We accepted and told him next week. Soo we tore down both our sleds, changed the bearings, added new gaskets seals to both engines. My cousin did the carb and clutching on both.
    We met on this long smooth lake, took practice runs and adjusted the carbs. We ran 70/30 AVGAS/PREMIUM
    Took our marks, he had us on the holeshot, we caught up and started walking away, I was about 1/4 of a sled length behind my cousin.

    I remember when the 1998 1000 came out. I was 18 and had a 500 INDY, I took one for a rip down the Lake and went past 100 MPH on the speedo in seconds and went another 25 degrees past 100 MPH the needle was at the R in ARCTIC CAT on the speedo! It sounded great too pipes were loud on the 1998 version, then I had to get back on my 500.

    Love them triples man, your a good man. I grew up riding my dad's thundercat 1000 and damn them things are fast when you do some clutch work to them. Love it man.

      Brenden Moore I want one so bad. My buddy has a 2003 f7 he smoked me badly on my 2002 Polaris xc sp 700. My sled is stock with 130hp. His sled has close to 150hp he said.
      I want this sled so bad so I can put his ass back in place.

    • @crsracing1313
      @crsracing1313 8 лет назад +9

      Brendan McCarthy if you do a little clutch work to these t cats, you'll beat any stock sled. It still holds the record for fastest 1000 ft stock sled, it's still standing from 98

  • @shperax
    @shperax 3 года назад +6

    Imagine the triples they could make with the tech they have now. 1200cc triples pushing 200hp could be a thing. Screw you EPA.

      I think alot of folks are walking away from the lake runners. Ive got a '96 ZRT 600, '97 ZRT 800 and a '99 T Cat 1k. The last few years there have been less and less of the big boys out there. Whats really disheartening is the kids that have the ragged out triples and dont know how to tune em. I grew up on 530's and 440's and got to watch the muscle sled craze in all its glory. Amazing times to watch these on the trails.

    • @williamhauser7156
      @williamhauser7156 3 года назад

      A stock thundercat 1000cc is 170 hp in stock form. 200 hours is easily obtainable with a few mods.

    • @Welcometofacsistube
      @Welcometofacsistube 2 года назад +1

      @@32degreesretarded62 I too grew up in the muscle sled areas. Unfortunately we never had a sled.
      Today I've got 3 triples including a tcat. Love the speed. But the sound is by far the best

    • @32degreesretarded62
      @32degreesretarded62 2 года назад +1

      @@Welcometofacsistube Hard to go wrong with em. Properly tuned muscle still plays with modern machines. Just at a fraction of the cost. Looking at a low milage '01 ZRT 800 for $3k. A new 8000RR is $18k O.T.D. And I agree, pure ear porn.

    Nice sound, great pulls!...........Sad, no top end or on the trigger more then 5 seconds, no line-ups. I could live all day on a space like that with my F7 and simply skip the trails for a while. But, it would be so much more fun if you had some friends to line up with, for me, solo is a bit boring... 😉.

    ok, so an .250 Elan , 1978 can do about 12 m.p.h on a good day. Then along comes this guy with a more modern sled, about 170 h.p blowing snowdust and stuff at others, passing them while busting full throttle burp gaps, cannot see the reasoning actually.
