As we know columns are the compression members of a building structure and play an important role in transferring the load from superstructure to substructure. That's why these members should be casted properly by using good quality material and with great care to maintain the stability of the structure for long run.

I commend your effort to give young engineers quick fix. But please note that the higher you go, the lower the load (as the foundation then the ground floor carries the bulk of the load). So without analysis or design, the size of your columns and area of reinforcements should reduce as you ascend using "rule of thumb".

what i understand this video guide builder for choosing column size and rebar for typical house construction, which is base on typical normal dead load and live load related to the house, its does't matter how big the house eg; 1000sqft or 2000sqft just follow the column distance and follow the size and rebar, it still safe within that parameter, another word, it easy guide line for diy house build. and i consider u chooses the size of column base on maximum load.

Sir, I have 10"/10" columns with 12' span . Beam size 10"/8" (b/h) + 5" slab . beams are (4+2) of 16mm 4 No's + 12mm 2nos bars. I have gone for 6' cantilever expansion and over it complete cover construction of (6") wall with window & all. At the end of expansion there is a hanging scartain of 30" height ( 4.5" thick). And a balcony of 7'/11' in the middle portion. The building has completed 20 years Gf & 8 years 1st floor. The size of the building is roughly 44 / 47'.
Sir will it be safe . please advice.
