Our beautiful adventure in the middle of the amazing Dolomites. The first ferrata in the Brenta massif. It was September 17, 2023. We were pressed for time as we had promised to return to France for Coupe Icare. The weather was capricious. That day we knew we had a long distance to pass. The ferrata itself will also be long. We started very early, it was still dark, from the parking lot in Campo Carlo Magno. We walked up to Rifugio Boch, then Rifugio Graffer and then up a rocky path towards Rifugio Tuckett. Along the way, we admired beautiful views, although the best ones were hidden in the clouds. The beginning of the ferrata started to the right of the Bocca di Tuckett Pass. We got there around 11 a.m. Ferrata means ladders, climbing, exposed rock ledges. The views were pleasing to the eye. We descended the via ferrata along "kilometers" of ladders. It was about 5 p.m. Then, along a stone, hardly visible path, down the gully towards Rifugio Brentei. Then we headed towards Rifugio Casinei and further down, through the forest, past the river towards the town of Madonna di Campilio. We drove to the base camp together with people we met near the hotel Vallesinella who took us by car to the town Madonna di Campilio . It was already getting dark. We liked it so much that we want to go back there this season and explore this massif a bit more.
The Ferrata is of difficulty C, i.e. medium difficulty. We took the via ferrata from Rifugio Tuckett, but it is also possible to start from Rifugio Alimonta. You can also plan 3 - 5 days of ferrata hiking, starting from the Benini ferrata, which ends where the ferrata delle Bocchette Alte begins. Then, on the way back to the Rifugio Casinei, we can return to Rifugio Tuckett via the Sosat ferrata.
From Rifugio Tuckett you can also make the Benini or Sosat ferrata. You can also combine it with other via ferrata and go on a multi-day expedition.
