That's actually a very good looking car. Well done, Honda!
This would be my first car, from Toronto, CA
For the most part, I absolutely love my ‘19 Insight. I agree, much better looking than any other Honda sedan. I get about 48 mpg combined but, I have a lead foot so I’m elated! The CVT takes a little getting used to not having fear changes. The button gear shifter is no big deal. I’m about 250 pounds and the seats are very comfy even on a long 8 hour drive! The technology is awesome! The only three things I am disappointed with are the fact that it doesn’t have chimes to indicate blind spot interference, it does not come with back up sensors besides the backup camera and lastly, maybe I’m too rough but the Continental tires it came with aren’t very durable. I’ve never had so many flats with any other brand. Sometimes a quick look to the front while backing up can cause you to miss a person or object behind you.
My wife says the Civic tail lights make the car look like the Hamburglar from McDonald’s old promos...especially when the vehicle is black!!
I agree. This car looks so much better than the old one. Soooo much better.
I had the previous generation.... It was a great car, but it was trying to be a prius. This looks really nice.
It doesn't look better than the first gen. Nobody knows about it.
I'd take this over a Prius anyday! Nice looking car. Good job Honda! 👍🏻
Great video that’s well put together. Love the father and son team.
Looks good! I would love to see a hatchback model
Can it run on gas engine only when hybrid battery is dead or disconnected?
Good insight
This car is going to bring so many people into honda.
Wow this looks good for 50mpg might be my next commute car
I’m very excited for this Insight! It could stop me from buying a Prius or Prime.
The Clarity would be the competitor against the Prime. Both are Plug-in EV hybrids. Not this.
This Prius slayer looks like the Accord and Civic had a baby. Well done Honda! 👍
The white color one is a true beauty !
When the rear looks better than the civic....
Better than the accord too in my opinion
I always respect inventive companies such as Honda.!
it's beautiful
this is what the new Accord should have looked like!!!
MrSayonara88 Hope they change those taillights on that new Accord . I love Honda's but Ugh! They tried to give it an "Audi" look . Just stick to what has been working . Simplicity , a little sporty n fuel efficient .
The 2018 Honda Accord is the full size version with more roomy interior and a bigger trunk
Henry Cheng What does size and interior volume have anything to do with how it should look like?
Iggi Valencia true, new accord is one ugly piece of shit
Honda sales would be much better if this style was used for the new Accord. Exterior designer was like MEH mess it up they'll love it.😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
PLATINUM I agree 100%!!! Camry for the win!!!!
It is and they sold lots of 2018 Accord already
Would you guys pick this over the Accord?
Nice job, Honda!
It’s beautiful
Probably the best-looking hybrid in this price segment. I do wish they made a hatchback PHEV version - and maybe not use the rear styling of the civic hatch... I guess I want a Honda version of the Hyundai Ioniq PHEV
When is the full review coming?
June 20
Hopefully the accords facelift will have a similar front end.
it needs an asslift also lol
Entire exterior needs a lift lol
or use the final verision of last gen :)
Great Review Guys. This car is how the civic should have looked. The interior and exterior say Accord much more than civic. My only gripe is the lane watch camera instead of a real blind spot monitoring system. Just saying.
Nice looking car .... but why Regen paddles that mimic gear paddles & why gear buttons prominently placed on the console, seems to still take up just as much room as a tradition shifter but with crumb & spilled drink catchers.
Tim Fox I think it's for coasting when there is a red light ahead, but it's too soon to hit the brakes.
This one looks way way better than the Civic & the Accord. Love both the front & the back.
Great looking car... wish Honda would drop black interiors and go to grey. It’s a little cooler in the summer, AC doesn’t have to work as hard.
what a an ev button when switch on will drive only a mile?whats the point.
This is what the Honda Clarity should have looked like.
j_spark yeah they should slap a bigger battery in this with a plug and I'm sold
We need more hatchbacks...
To me it looks similar in the front end of the car to the 2019 VW Jetta especially in blue....
I like this car
If it was your money what would you choose between the Accord or Insight hybrid 🤔🤔
rcv79 depends on if you want a boat or a smaller car.
I would take accord hybrid, still good mpg but bigger car.
Why is there an insight, clarity, and accord hybrid?
Small, medium and large.
Cool!
If the base insight starts at 23k I’ll buy it tbh.
Omg these guys with push button shifters. Get used to it. It's simple to use. If you're having a hard time. You have other problems to worry about
I like it
Both the motors and the engine can power the front wheels how cool is that?
Are you serious? The Prius has been doing that for 21 years and now it's cool??
I wished there was blind spot monitoring
There is, but it called turn your head and look ;-) low tech
Only 1 mile in E.V mode? I was kind of expecting at least 10.
This is what the accord should look
I build these cars and my brother owns a prius... i would take this car anyday over a prius purly based off of looks! Oh the pep is nice to..
They really need to get over the push button transmission
Looks like an Accord!
#1 reason should have been it is quicker than in the past...0-60 about 8 seconds...2+ seconds quicker than a Prius btw.
This is what the Civic should look like. So much better looking than the current Civic.
I was going to say, I actually like the push button drive system. It's convenient and operates smoothly (if not as quickly as conventional transmissions). A lot of car reviewers tout their personal opinions as negatives which can really discredit the overall review. That's why the best car reviewers give us facts and figures. In this case he's just wrong because the insight doesn't even have a transmission. I'm sure he was just saying that because of his limited knowledge of the car, but still, if you're going to review it speak intelligently about it. A real con would be something like the limited rear seat headroom. Also its a tad contradictory to say a trunk vs. a hatchback is "weird and bold", yet your number 1 reason to buy it is because it doesn't "look" like a hybrid, which historically means hatchback style.
Wow... I love sedans, I’d never drive a crossover or hatchback. Good job Honda
It’s the Honda Civic’s mommy
That rear end came straight off a Chrysler 200...
you got 10 i got a 100000000000
I wonder why they made this and the clarity
Clarity is a plug-in hybrid
TFLnow Clarity comes in plug in hybrid, and non plug in hybrid
nah just plugin, hydrogen, ev
Clarity is also enormous. Feels like you are driving an odyssey van
I think the Clarity is based on Accord.
Sadly, one mile range (on electric-only) "under the ideal circumstances" is too little for me to consider.
Anthony C it's a hybrid. it's not like an ev which can go way longer on electric
Then drive it like a normal car and let the hybrid system improve your mpg, like it was designed. Remember these are standard hybrids. not PHEVs
I like the looks, but the CVT scares me away. I don't think it would last.
There is no CVT. There is no actual transmission in the Insight. Most of the time, an electric motor is directly powering the front wheels. Above certain speeds, the engine is connected to the wheels via a clutch and a single gear reduction.
@@b0bsaget007 no idea why Honda named it stupidly like that. And I love CVT and gear reduction boxes they're really reliable and easy to maintain
@@roodick85 they called it an e-CVT as a generic yet recognizable term that describes how the powertrain behaves.
No lobster claw taillights, hopefully other hondas follow that trend.
I’m glad it’s not another hatchbacks. Is that all electric cars can be? Hatchbacks?
TJ Houston Why would you want anything other than a hatch/van?
difflocktwo I don’t need all that space for a 16 year old.....
difflocktwo like I literally just got rid of my van like I don’t understand why people are moving towards trucks and SUVs. All my family uses the truck for is work and that’s it.
TJ Houston What do you gain for sacrificing space? So you don't need the space, cool. But what do you lose by having that space? What do you gain by removing it?
difflocktwo first of all I get better gas mileage. Second I can see better out of a car because I’ve had problems seeing out of SUVs because I’m smaller than others. 3rd I do not need all that space and you’re finding a way to criticize me about what I spend my money on then we need to have a chat. I don’t need all that space. My Chevy Malibu has all the space I need. It’s trunk is big as hell and lord knows it has a lot of leg room. Look if it ain’t a Tahoe, Yukon, or Cadillac I don’t want it. If it isn’t a GM, tesla, Chrysler dodge Jeep Ram, or Honda suv I’m not looking for it. Literally that is too much space for one person unless you have a big family and I don’t plan on having that for YEARS! Only reason I’ll have an SUV is to look good (since it being a Cadillac) and to tow and haul like an truck was literally meant for from the beginning. But see I’m not rich so I’m sticking with sedans.
Don't even have to watch to throw in this snarky comment:
doesn't take much to be better than the old one, and especially the old-old one! 😂😏
This car doesn't have a spare tire, but you thought that the push button transmission was bad? Can we all stop ignoring the major problem we are building into cars now, we can;t travel anymore.. Why do the reviewers not criticize this immediately with a Honda Rep.. My voice is not important like yours.
CaptainMarko it could be an issue but I've never had a flat tire in 10 years of driving and i carry a tyre repair kit in my boot if it does happen
Go to junk yard. Get the spare and jack from a CR-V or Accord. Place in trunk. Enjoy your spare tire.
Why cant civic have a good looking rear like this one!
The high end model in white in Canada was at 33k
first they said there is no transmission, then later they said it does have one. make up our minds guys
"it is not a hatchback"....yehhhh...that is a good thing right.... !!!
So basically its just a Honda CIVIC Hybrid, but renamed as the 'Insight'. Hey, I'm okay with that, it looks way better than the Prius, both inside AND outside.
A Dream, take notes BMW..
Only if it were a hatchback...
Tech Defender ioniq. Better mpg, better warranty, costs less. Hatchback
The Ioniq is also ugly AF.
The Metropolis haha. Still, fixes the hatch problem and is more efficient. Makes sense
Yeah, I guess. A hatch IS more useful than a boot. I'd rather get the funky Pruis though, the hatch on that is on a better angle.
Drives me bonkers that this isn't a hatchback or even a liftback.
wow this makes the prius look like shit
and that blue color..I'm in love
A mature civic. The current generation civic look too boy racer for me.
Think...
Race inspired cosmetic enhancements
what is Honda thinking if you build two pieces of crap it equals one good one???
0 to 60 is what?
Stay tuned for the complete review next week please.
0-60 in eventually
Tymon Wilson lol if it's anything like the accord hybrid
Who cares?
It's a damn city car...
This is the mini me of Honda Accord hybrid
it looks like an accord
Not gonna lie, I´m a bit disappointed that according to real world numbers , this vehicle doesn´t get the mpg´s it claims.
It does even better for me lmao. 2 hours of commuting per day and I get around 53-55 mpg average per fill up.
Why don't you like push button? It's so much better for this type of car.
TFL people are obviously Honda people or at least cater to Honda-centric fanbase.
Ioniq better. Sorry. Better mpg and will cost less.
Unibrow Honda hybrid. It could be just the Accord hybrid and why bother calling it insight when it looks exactly like the accord. And this sounds like a honda dealership ad
Joe E. Because there already is an Accord Hybrid. This one is more like a Civic.
Joe E. - Honda delearship ad.. hahaha! That is so true. At first I thought I was the only one who noticed. TFL has sounded like they are Honda dealership ad or Honda ad for quite some time now. They cater to Honda fans.
It really is very good looking indeed. Toyota can learn something from this!
One mile electric range?? If my car battery could run my car then I'm driving a hybrid?? There has to be stronger regulation on what can be called a hybrid
How is it not considered a hybrid. It recovers braking energy that can be used to assist the engine immediately after. Just because the actual energy storage is very limited doesn't mean it's not a hybrid. The prius (Not the prime) has the exact same 1 mile range.
It's not better than the first gen, nothing beats having a manual and 70 MPG baby.
Thanks to the government lean burn engines aren't allowed unless you cheat like Volkswagen. That's how 70 was possible
Yeah, a manual is fun, but it's not exactly fair to compare this to a tiny coupe with hardly any modern amenities and without today's required emissions controls and crash-worthiness.
The original insight was all about the mpg, the sucker didn't even have cruise control.
I just don’t like , there’s no spare tire.
What the actual F*** is up with Honda's Chrome Bert Unibrow styling lately? SOOOO FUGLY.
one mile on electric ?----pathetic!
larry taylor that's the Honda way. Toyota on the other hand gives you more😂😂🤣
PLATINUM how much more? Its a hybrid not a plug in. You know how much funky looking prius hybrid goes on just electricity?
Andrey Starovoytov the Prius is not the only hybrid makes. There is the normal looking Camry😂😂
The normal looking Camry hybrid is in a completely different class. If you want a a hybrid compact then it's insight vs prius
Andrey Starovoytov you're right it is funky looking... But I've come to the realization it has a purpose. It's shaped like a cheese wedge to slip thru the air efficiently. But any way you put it it can go much farther on electric only mode
Ew don’t put a Prius next to that car. The new insight is worlds better than that bucket of shit.
Holy shit this is so cringeworthy.
Too expensive. Hondas dont make good hybrids.
Made in U.S.A. is a reason to NOT buy this.
LOL, Tesla is kicking Honda and Toyota's asses LOL .....
I don't F#$%ing want an EV, I want a hybrid... Preferably non-plug in. I don't see Tesla doing that. Besides Tesla's have reliability issues.
How? Honda has much more income because all their cars are volume sellers and affordable starters for everyone.
Hideous. Honda is dead set on designing some of the ugliest cars on the market. That damn chrome unibrow up front has got to stop.
Cayden Michael I think this is Honda's best design bar none. This goes to show you manufacturers are lazy AF! look at the hideous accords exterior. Looks like the designer ran out of brain and fkd up the whole car lol
ImportsRule007 I hate the Accord, too. Hate the Civic and I don’t think this Insight is attractive either. All are hideous. Literally every vehicle in Honda’s lineup is awful.
Cayden Michael 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂lmaoooooo
Eh, I think it's quite normal looking. I don't mind the "sky-wing" signature chrome bar but this definitely looks better than an Accord or a Pruis. All a matter of perspective 😉
Cayden Michael If you don’t like Honda why are you even watching the video? 🤔
I like it
