I dont care what anybody says, this is one of the best looking 911s ever made. Personally i dont like the gen 1 fried egg 996 cars, but the gen 2s are simply stunning, among the best.
I was a fanboy of the 996.2 for a while but I’m really coming around to the fried egg era, although it’s an unpopular opinion. Regardless I couldn’t agree more, the 996.2s are some sexy cars.
I like this car. Whenever I go home to visit my parents, my dad still has 2002 Porsche 911. It’s not a 4S like yours but it’s a sweet ride. This is the car I often drive around town and use when I visit my folks. So much fun and a thrill to drive.
Not really a poor man’s 911, surely the narrow body C2 is the “poor man’s 911”. C4S prices are significantly higher than C2’s. Perhaps a “poor man’s 911 turbo” minus the turbo.
It's totaly wrong to call those "fried egg headlights". Only the early model 996's with the orange blinckers, had the real "fried egg" headlights. Got it from the Porsche guru, Magnus Walker (he likes the fried eggs) and the museum in Stuttgart.
Its not a poor mans Porsche in 2022, in Europe prices are rising around 7% per year, really good ones sell for over £35.000. Some people are choosing the 996 over an early 997.
About the same over here in America. You have to remember that “poor man’s” anything refers to other cars like it. Almost all other 911 generations are significantly more expensive.
@@MassimoOit isn’t though wtf are you smoking. A base 996 Carrera with a god awful Tiptronic box would be right at the lower end, the C4S is quite a bit above that! Also you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about as the term ‘poor man’s Porsche’ was in regard to the Boxster 986.
@@MrCaterhamr500 yes which is why I said the 996 generation is the cheapest of all 911s. Keyword: generation. I was not referring to the C4S model in my reply.
I really love my 996 4s WLS Manual gearbox. It has 89.000km and I am 2nd owner. All X-codes except PCB! Bought in 2016. A good time for buying this car. But increasing value is not a penny worrth, as I will not sell it at all :-)
Good Start for a car vid MO, and Yes the Title is Wrong...in more than 1 way. LOL...also when you are going to mention or refer to Cheap or Affordable, make sure you include the current market price so your viewers will understand where you are coming from. Lastly, love the car. I was going to get the same Lapis Blue but with the Natural Brown interior. Found a SY on Black and never looked back.
Thanks! Haha, I do agree with you, I’ve come to love the 996 and it’s fried egg headlights. I thought about including pricing but in today’s market, prices are fluctuating so much on these 996s. Speed Yellow is an awesome color, very cool spec!
I am looking to buy a C4S. I got a professional inspection report delivered today and it just said the coolant was low. The mechanic did not do any further checks to see why coolant was low but could this be a concern?
@@dominik1701p you’re totally right! I was more referring to the 996 generation as a whole, since every model in the 996 gen is so low priced compared to every other gen. I think the C4Ss still have a little to go honestly, I think they’ll still increase in value over the next few years.
Oh too bad. Another thing you might consider, instead of putting in an aftermarket short shifter I swapped my 996 shifter for a stock 997 shifter. Vids on RUclips its an easy direct replacement. The 997 shifter is crisper and has a 15% shorter throw. I love the mod and the car still looks stock. Less than $300 total. Good luck with your 4S. Only had mine a couple of months and love it.
@@mr59767 wow, that’s cheap for a much better shifter. I considered throwing a 997 shift knob on but I didn’t realize the 997 shifter was so much better altogether. Thanks!
the engine of the 996 designed by Mercedes and manufactured by Porsche at the time when Porsche was in financial difficulty is a disaster in terms of reliability (IMS, cracked cylinder heads, scratched cylinder, etc.) It is greatly preferable (especially if we ride and keep it) to go with a 996 turbo with its Mezger engine (designed by Porsche) much more reliable.
In comparison to other 911 generations and models, this 996 is priced much lower. For example, 991 Carreras are selling for over $80k and we won’t even get into 964 and 993 prices!

996s are getting expensive - this 4s looks amazing

In my opinion you chose a very inappropriate title for the video 😅! Nevertheless it is a nice video with cool emotions 😉. All the best, MAK

all? like full carbon and full leather trim (incl. speaker covers, air vents etc.)?
Good video, nice and short. I especially like that you skipped over the IMS "issue". So engine noise would have been a bonus. 😎
