  • Mick Fanning & Mikey Wright at the Rock Show - 20 April 2023 , the swell had dropped down a foot or 2 from Yesterday but there were still sets on 20 minute intervals if you had the balls to sit behind the rock and take one ...

    I remember, back in the olden days when I was a younging, ha ha, in Late 1980's; Oh Snapper Rocks was a Local's Spot. You didn't mess with them, no drop ins back than or you would likely get 'localised'.. .. p.s I'ld love to send you a clip of me and my brother sharing a wave on Mal's back in 2000, When Rainbow Bay still existed! Well it was the end of Snapper riding into Rainbow

    I'm a Hawaii boy but really like MIck, he's something special. His speed, his velocity getting down the line is perhaps best in the world.

    What part of the east coast is this? I'm from California, but I used to live in Sydney years back. It's amazing how fast and unpredictable (in terms of closing out) this break is.

      The famous Snapper Rocks, the Northern part of NSW and Queensland is like this on the points, super racey and tricky with high S-SSE Winds at 20-25 knots.

    • @higherresolution4490
      @higherresolution4490 Год назад +1

      @@jakesboardreviews How I missed that break, I don't know! Thanks for taking the time to tell me where it is. I thought I knew most of the New South Wales Coastline. With the wind and the rocks, it reminds me of some breaks in S. California, from Laguna to La Jolla. But Snapper Rocks is way faster. It's amazing. Talk about critical timing to drop in.

    How hard is it to get one of those waves? Looks really crowded.

    • @patrickbianconi1817
      @patrickbianconi1817 Год назад +2

      Really hard probably, unless you’re a local or Mick Fanning.

    • @julesprual
      @julesprual Год назад +3

      Can tell, on a day like this it’s hard. You paddle most likely against the current and the crowd. Plus you have people jumping from the rocks and they are back at the top of the peak. Your best chance is to get on one of the peaks when the wave doesn’t connect all the way or to wait for someone to fall. The crowd here is one of the reason you see so many drop ins. People get frustrated.

    • @hipsonsogbo
      @hipsonsogbo Год назад +1

      @@julesprual nice sounds like you surfed it a fair bit, I was thinking of moving there, but probs will stick to a less well known part of the coast, may not be getting the super bank wave but at least get some waves
