It's like Ren is reenacting a moment in time for me,down to every detail. Never having been a quiet,abused,pregnant girl Ren captures every nuance of what it's like....sheer genius
It hits home when it clicks that Violet was the mother of 2 kids that grew up not knowing each other Jenny quiet like her mother and Screech violent like his father and meeting on a fateful evening where they both lose their lives one street apart still not knowing they were siblings ,,shows the genius of the creator when it brings out the emotions in the viewer to the type of world we have become ..we hear these stories all of the time but nobody has ever told it as it is this way before ...nice reaction
And don’t forget how their life’s was bad from teens... Jenny had walked the streets a 1000 times in high heels, she’s a working girl. When screech calls his girlfriend, she is busy... because she is with his friend Patrick. It’s those small things in his stories I love.

You see "her" wake up in the hospital with eyes darting around confused as to how she got here; haunting melody. We must rewind to she what happened to her 11:48 - 11:54 (this is time going backwards). 12:02 Time for a tale follow along... 14:35 slow to fast 14:42 back to real time. In the end; the kids got slit due to the death of their mother and incarceration of his father. Screech ended up being just like his father as Jenny ended up freezing in place scared and following the same fate as her mother.... Ren is modern day Shakespeare.

Great reaction guys! Appreciate the honesty. Violet's tale happened in 2005 (two zero zero five) and Jenny and Screech's tale happened in 2019, 14 years later when he released the songs. Twins separated at birth and then Screech ends up killing his twin without knowing she existed. Jenny inherited her mother's silence and Screech inherited his father's violence. Jenny knew the streets becasuse she walked them a thousand times in high heels which gives you a clue as to how her life turned out. Another interesting part is when he knocks on his friend Patrick's door and he wasn't there and then calls his girlfriend who said she was busy was because they were actually together behind his back. It's a story of how tragedy can affect generations. He's such an amazing storyteller. He calls his musical genre "Bardcore" which is perfect. He's a modern day minstrel or bard. Peace... ✌
I hope you guys are doing ok. It was a great and honest reaction and I have subscribed. Part of the genius of these Tales is that Ren exhausts the audience. We have to follow his emotionally engaged level through changes in delivery, character/narrator swap, rap/sing/poem/phone call and we are taking in the horrific details of the story for the first time. When the devastating final lines are uttered we have been carried along by his incredible delivery and care too much to not be heart broken. Usually takes a movie an hour or so to do that and then usually there is a half hour to make us feel better. Ren and Samuel do it in 13 minutes with only one performer walking around empty streets. And like Shakespeare, tragic title characters die and happy endings are different works. I'm now ready for the end if I watch Violet's Tale but little details like the girl on the swing in Jenny's Tale now get to me much more. Bardcore.
This was a rollercoaster we have never been on. The emotions that came out of us were something we have never experienced before. He did carry us the whole way through, and we held on to every line he sang, rapped or just talked about until the end when it ALL came to a very dramatic conclusion. WOW!!!! is all we can really say about Ren and we will be taking a little break from Ren videos. :) Thanks for Watching! We are ok!
Don't worry about showing the emotion... we're all Ren fans, and I think we've all been there. I'm a 50 year old autistic male, and I've been reduced to rubble so many times with Ren. But this one? Let's face it - You simply wouldn't be human if this one didn't break you... and I thought you guys did real well to hang on as long as you did. Just know that you don't have to ; ) The end of this video is one of those times when there's literally nothing you can really say... just walk off camera and give each other a hug. Take some breaths... have a drink... grab some air in the yard... be thankful : ) I spent 30 mins just curled up with my cat after the first viewing. Was a victim of DV from a baby till 7 years. Got a broken rib at 3yo for xmas. . So... yeah. But this video has let me face up to a lot of stuff and talk about it. This is music that really needs to be heard... sometimes just to let us know we're not alone... and sometimes to make us look hard at the things we prefer to gloss over... the crap happening 1000 times a night, in any major city : ( Thank you for sharing yourselves. Well, I for one loved your reaction. Ren is definitely a master story teller. He paints very vivid pictures and does so just strolling around with his guitar. This one in particular, fits the name he uses to describe his genre. Bardcore.
Like a bard, he documents these tragic lives, shining a light on what is often hidden and provoking uncomfortable conversations. Pretending such stuff doesn't happen doesn't help and I admire Ren for doing this without glamorising the violence. BUT it's important to remember he does plenty of fun stuff too!! Try Bongo Bong with his band The Big Push, or Wade in the Water (busking with the Big Push) - they'll make you smile :)
I did go down that hole yesterday checking out his busking videos and just commented how talented he and his bandmates are. There are plenty of happy songs he does, which are GREAT, but when you can tell a story like this and get a reaction like he did is on another level! Thanks for Watching!
No matter how many times I hear this masterpiece, I still tear up at that ending. That to me is the sign of a true artist - someone who can make you connect emotionally with characters that you don't even know. I always have to go listen to his track "What You Want" (a fantastic homage to the Beastie Boys) to cheer myself up after watching this one.

Lost my mom to dementia two years ago and it would mean a lot. It’s a rough watch but beautifully done. Pay attention to items disappearing throughout (memories). Love you two.

Ren tells the stories and the filming of the stories are all done so well i found myself looking for the bodies laying on the ground. The saddest thing about this is the fact each of these things are happening in every country at this very moment and the cycle continues

Different artist but if you wanna go on the ride of your fuckin life album wise, Ethel Cain. She released her debut album last year and I swear it's more like a movie than an album, especially with the supplemental content and other music she's put out in mind. Another one that truly knows how to take your heart and toss it in a blender in the matter of a blink, but I will warn you that some of the topics discussed are VERY sensitive and can be extremely triggering if you're not prepared for it so strap in if you sign up for this rollercoaster 😂

Brilliant reaction! Emotionally exhausting. Ren is so unique. He can do something like this, but then rap like a maniac on thing like The Hunger, or sing beautifully on Chalk Outlines. So versatile. Master of all styles and emotions.
If you notice, Jenny takes after Violet in that she freezes in threatening situations and Screech takes after his dad with his violence. Also, at the end they are lying 1 block apart, which is practically side by side in the grand scheme of things; same as they were after they were born. Side note: He films his stuff in one take (some of his stuff takes more than one, but he still keeps it as low as possible), performs much of his stuff live for the camera instead of lip syncing, and he does minimal editing to his voice afterwords. If you look closely, he is wearing a lauve mic and he moves from room to room to get the vocal sound that he wants (echo, reverb, etc.)
Yes Ren is THAT good! Such a hard hitting story told so well you cannot help but feel the impact. DV is a very real and ugly issue and Ren brought it to life for all to see. Brilliant work. Natural reaction by the way.

These came out 1 month apart. I could not wait to hear them. It is amazing how Ren [ut this together. check out is huge catalogue, It is not all in the bard style and all great. I have followed him for 13 years.
most reactions cut do a hard cut, glad to see an authentic reaction. what made me most sad is realizing that jenny and screech were twins, and james was 14 years old when they called him screech. that means jenny was walking the streets a thousand times at 14
Ren is changing the game. He is redefining art and music. He tackles very, very difficult subject matter and exposes a light on things that are generally kept in the dark, and it brings out the authenticity in all of us. He is exactly what we need. If you want a lighter, more fun side of him, I highly recommend that you check out The Hunger. Completely different in every single way…there is not a thing that this young man cannot do, I am convinced of that at this point.
Violet gave birth to Jenny and James(screech). The twins followed the same exact personality as their parents. Jenny quiet and so scared she can't move and Violet was silent and always scared. Stevie beat the shit out of Violet and his son James(screech) was violent and a thug. Yes the circle of violence repeats but I guess it ended right there. I assume Stevie will never get out for a murder charge to father more kids.
What makes this even more impressive is that he released Jenny and Screech's tales two years before he wrapped it all up with Violet's tale. As an artist myself that shows a serious level of creativity, the kind a painter feels when they just can't finish a painting until it's really complete and meets their expectation, or when an author can't finish a book or a series until there's adequate closure for them. This kind of genuine artistic integrity is rare in a musical artist, it's the kind of thing Bowie did. I think that's one of the reasons people are falling in love with Ren, he's the real deal, a genuine artist, not one of these fronts put up by a label singing songs that don't mean anything and written by someone else, to a backing track composed by someone they never met and singing through auto-tune.
Chalk Outlines (live) is another great one. But If you need a break from some of the heavier emotional Ren; Power, What you Want and The Hunger are great listens and different vibes from previous Ren videos

This is a rough performance to take in but it’s so amazingly well done. Heartbreaking yet necessary. I would suggest watching some Ren with the big push (I shot the sheriff/road to Zion) to cleanse the palate

Love seeing you two get emotional and real. It’s really touching. I ask a favor…watch “Constance” by Spiritbox please. About losing a loved one to dementia/Alzheimer’s. Lost my mom to dementia two years ago and it would mean a lot. It’s a rough watch but beautifully done. Pay attention to items disappearing throughout (memories). Love you two.
I hope you hugged eachother right away... I tell you,, I have watched countless reactions to this song, and everytime, I need a hug afterwards, but just have my 3 dogs and cat to hug. I do not think they realize what I just saw. Great Reaction, glad you guys just watched it straight through.

He wrote Screech after a real 14yr old boy killed a young girl and then came the Tale of Jenny and Violet. A true master of storytelling
Ren tells the stories and the filming of the stories are all done so well i found myself looking for the bodies laying on the ground. The saddest thing about this is the fact each of these things are happening in every country at this very moment and the cycle continues

Different artist but if you wanna go on the ride of your fuckin life album wise, Ethel Cain. She released her debut album last year and I swear it's more like a movie than an album, especially with the supplemental content and other music she's put out in mind. Another one that truly knows how to take your heart and toss it in a blender in the matter of a blink, but I will warn you that some of the topics discussed are VERY sensitive and can be extremely triggering if you're not prepared for it so strap in if you sign up for this rollercoaster 😂

Brilliant reaction! Emotionally exhausting. Ren is so unique. He can do something like this, but then rap like a maniac on thing like The Hunger, or sing beautifully on Chalk Outlines. So versatile. Master of all styles and emotions.

If you notice, Jenny takes after Violet in that she freezes in threatening situations and Screech takes after his dad with his violence. Also, at the end they are lying 1 block apart, which is practically side by side in the grand scheme of things; same as they were after they were born.
Side note: He films his stuff in one take (some of his stuff takes more than one, but he still keeps it as low as possible), performs much of his stuff live for the camera instead of lip syncing, and he does minimal editing to his voice afterwords. If you look closely, he is wearing a lauve mic and he moves from room to room to get the vocal sound that he wants (echo, reverb, etc.)

Yes Ren is THAT good! Such a hard hitting story told so well you cannot help but feel the impact. DV is a very real and ugly issue and Ren brought it to life for all to see. Brilliant work. Natural reaction by the way.

most reactions cut do a hard cut, glad to see an authentic reaction. what made me most sad is realizing that jenny and screech were twins, and james was 14 years old when they called him screech. that means jenny was walking the streets a thousand times at 14

Ren is changing the game. He is redefining art and music. He tackles very, very difficult subject matter and exposes a light on things that are generally kept in the dark, and it brings out the authenticity in all of us. He is exactly what we need. If you want a lighter, more fun side of him, I highly recommend that you check out The Hunger. Completely different in every single way…there is not a thing that this young man cannot do, I am convinced of that at this point.
Violet gave birth to Jenny and James(screech). The twins followed the same exact personality as their parents. Jenny quiet and so scared she can't move and Violet was silent and always scared. Stevie beat the shit out of Violet and his son James(screech) was violent and a thug. Yes the circle of violence repeats but I guess it ended right there. I assume Stevie will never get out for a murder charge to father more kids.
What makes this even more impressive is that he released Jenny and Screech's tales two years before he wrapped it all up with Violet's tale. As an artist myself that shows a serious level of creativity, the kind a painter feels when they just can't finish a painting until it's really complete and meets their expectation, or when an author can't finish a book or a series until there's adequate closure for them. This kind of genuine artistic integrity is rare in a musical artist, it's the kind of thing Bowie did. I think that's one of the reasons people are falling in love with Ren, he's the real deal, a genuine artist, not one of these fronts put up by a label singing songs that don't mean anything and written by someone else, to a backing track composed by someone they never met and singing through auto-tune.
Chalk Outlines (live) is another great one. But If you need a break from some of the heavier emotional Ren; Power, What you Want and The Hunger are great listens and different vibes from previous Ren videos
