- White-throated Dipper is the species of Dipper bird that is found across Europe and parts of Asia. In this video I show you how I got close to a Dipper to make this clip about bird photography and video. White-throated Dipper, Cinclus cinclus, inhabits fast-flowing streams and rivers, usually in mountainous or hilly areas, with lots of rocks in them to act as perches. Dippers are charismatic birds with their striking plumage and bobbing "dipper dance" and a sign of a healthy watercourse. White-throated Dipper is the national bird of Norway.

Wish you a pleasant Saturday, my friend.

Thank you. ◕‿◕
Wonderful video of a beautiful white-throated dipper. Great captures of diving and picking "nice juicy meal". It was interesting to see how you filmed the dipper.
Thanks for those nice comments. I am glad my efforts were appreciated 😀
@@BirdingwithNick Thank you! 🐦
Nice one Nick.... I love dippers, and I've been wracking my brain trying to remember where I used to watch them regularly in the past. It must have been somewhere in South Wales too, where I lived as a teenager.
This one is along the stream that feeds the reservoir at Talybont-on-Usk. Do you know it?
@@BirdingwithNick By name only. I lived in The Vale of Glamorgan, and I recall going up to Brecon occasionally, and I guess I must have seen dippers whilst walking in that area.
Wow nice video!!
They are very nice swimmer for catch feed, aren't they?
I love your video🤩
Have a nice weekend!!
They are lovely birds. Have you got any video of Brown Dipper? I've seen them in your part of the world.
bonjour Nick
très joli vidéo sur le cingle, bonne description de son biotope, joli montage..bravo
merci pour le partage
amitiés ornithologique Françoise
Thanks so much for those kind words. Much appreciated. Le cingle? Le cincle I think? My French isn't so good, so got confused with that.
Wonderful bird enjoying the river. It seemed to be having a good time
Haha, indeed, it does look rather playful in the river.
Great work!!
Thank you, glad you liked it.

How are they socute
Haha, beware the cute factor of the Dipper!
What a great content Nick! Keep giving us more
Haha, cheers. Working on it!
Tried once to find them in high altitude... but no luck :( Lovely footage my friend... thanks for sharing..
Indeed, usually they are tough to spot. This one was unusually tame.
It's cool to have such a nice place for watching Dipper. Enjoyed the video. 👍😃
Dipper's are nice birds hey?
Great video Nick. The dipper still eludes me but hopefully will catch up with one sometime. Cheers Keith
Thanks for the kind comments Keith. I made this video near Talybont-on-Usk in the Brecon Beacons. An absolute nailed on site to see Dippers. If you ever think about heading down there, message me and I will give you the precise location.
@@BirdingwithNick thanks mate. I was down that way a few years ago, if I go again I will let you know.
Fantastic footage Nick! I've only seen a dipper twice at Forest Farm Nature Reserve and they're fantastic little birds!
They are lovely aren't they? I don't often see them either as I don't live in the right part of the country for them. This spot in the Brecon Beacons National Park is always good for them though.
This place looks amazing, thanks for a great upload
It really is a lovely spot. Thanks for watching.
Wonderful, Nick! Great, clear, sharp video. And I didn't know (d'oh...) that their movement/bobbing up and down was for blending in with the movement of the water. Thank you!!!
Thanks for those comments. Yes, that is one theory on the bobbing movement.
Nice bird, nice setting and a nice video. I was bird watching in UK on different RBPS sites in Wales and in the Livepool area, excellent!
Thanks for those comments. This one was filmed near Talybont on Usk in the Brecon Beacons. Maybe you know it?
Blimey Nick...what a cool video about dippers, I will be back👍👍. Would you suggest any tips to attract pinches into my garden pls? I am planning on a bird feeder or squirrel feeder from Recycled materials. I have fully supported you and warmly welcome you to enjoy few of mine when you get a moment 😍👍
Certainly. Finches enjoy small seeds, so the type of feeder that dispenses seeds close to the bottom with small perches close to the holes should be easy enough to make from an old plastic bottle.
Where in S Wales is this please? I’ve been searching for these lovely birds for ages with no joy

Hi Nick. I'm working on a charity project that features Dippers. I wonder would you mind if I used some of your lovely footage. I don't know if the idea will ever see the light of day but if it does you'd obviously get a credit. Let me know thank you. Dave
Hi Dave, let me know more about your project and how you want to use the footage. Send me an email - nickupton@thaibirding.com Cheers
