Stalking Ruddy Turnstone | Arenaria interpres

Ruddy Turnstone is a bird that always entertains with its busy and quarrelsome nature and vairty of interesting feeding methods. These Turnstones, Arenaria interpres, are found in all continents of the world but its colourful plumage and characterful nature make it one of my favourite species of bird. In this video I share some close up footage of Ruddy Turnstones from Shellness, in Kent, UK, and show you how I got close to them.

Hi, glad you enjoyed it. As you can see from my crawling around I put a fair amount of effort into filming it. In fact it was just a very lovely afternoon on a lonely beach where it was more or less just me and the birds.

It was really great to watch your technique of filming.
It requires quite a lot of sacrifices, I can imagine lying on the stones is not very comfortable :) But it brings such wonderful results :) 👍

Thanks for that nice feedback, glad you enjoyed it. The crawling along the beach would not have been so tiring had I done more exercise to keep my muscles in shape. The action of crawling along on my belly used muscles that I don't seem to have used in a long time!
