Meet Hume's Wheatear | Oenanthe albonigra

- Hume's Wheatear, Oenanthe albonigra, with its handsome black and white plumage is a very smart, crisp-looking bird and one that I was very keen to see on my short visit, birding in Oman during the summer. Hume's Wheatear is one of the resident breeding birds of Oman in contrast to the many other wheatears that occur in Oman only as passage migrants and/or winter visitors. Hume's Wheatear is a bird that is often tame around humans in Oman and this one allowed me to get close to get some nice video. I hope you enjoy seeing this Hume's Wheatear.

Quite unusual for a Wheatear and significantly bigger than most Wheatears although that doesn't really come across without anything to compare it to. Nice place but hot place. I had to film all my parts under the same tree as the sun was so intensely hot.

Haha, yes, it does look dressed up for a special event. This bird performed on my first morning in Oman and although I saw plenty more of them I never got this close again. A nice moment.
