Unfortunately the only time I was in Texas, the car needed a new engine (still under warranty, thank GAWD), because my bf at the time, who knew NOTHING about cars, wouldn't listen to me when I told him we needed a mechanic because we were leaking oil so, yeah. We got towed from Ranger TX, 130 miles back east to Arlington because that was the only dealership that could replace the engine. Our low income motel was on the other side of the highway (can't remember if it was I10 or I20) from Six Flags Over Arlington. Everyone was so nice, and being raised in FL I knew to be nice and polite. I made friends with the dear lady who managed the motel, and when I told her what happened she only charged us for half the days we were there. It was off season anyway but, that helped our wallets a LOT. One of my favorite parts of our conversation was when I explained I grew up holding the flashlight and getting tools for my daddy, and he taught me about cars but, bf, who was a surgical assistant and knew nothing about cars didn't believe I knew something was terribly wrong with HIS CAR. She looked at me and said He STILL didn't believe you? I said No Ma'am, that's why we're here to get a new engine installed. She looked at me, shook her head and said the famous "Bless his heart". I laughed and said Yes, ma'am. Lol. I gotta go back for a proper visit before I die. Unfortunately, our return trip was during the same weekend after Selena was murdered. Such a shame.
Even if a Texas Lady does leave the state (work and hubby) her final wishes will be to have her ashes returned to Texas. (True story about my aunt)

We got towed from Ranger TX, 130 miles back east to Arlington because that was the only dealership that could replace the engine. Our low income motel was on the other side of the highway (can't remember if it was I10 or I20)
from Six Flags Over Arlington.
