  • *sorry for the voice over translation*-couldn't find a better version
In memoriam Esther Williams (1921 - 2013) swimming champion and actress.
Amytis (Esther Williams) dreams about love, represented by the sculpture of the Fighting Warrior that turns to live (John Olszewski) in the scene.
The original sculpture, the Fighting Warrior, (erroneously known as "the Gladiator") is from the hellenistic period (100 BC) and made by "Agasias of Ephesus, son of Dositheos" as read in the inscription. The sculpture as well as other portrayed in the movie can be seen in the Louvre, Paris ( www.louvre.fr/e... , number 19).
"I had a Dream". Song, swim and dance scene from Jupiter's Darling (1955).
    Music by Burton Lane
    Lyrics by Harold Adamson
Singer: Jo Ann Greer (dubbing Esther Williams)
    Choreographer: Hermes Pan
Main dancers: Esther Williams and John Olszewski

Love the voice over translation...This native Russian speaker delivers with an elegance and nobility of expression at once worthy of the film and of Esther Williams' aquatic aesthetics.

Absolutely the most arrestingly aesthetic creature I've ever seen !! And I'm from a later generation. To compare a flabby, phony-looking fraud like Monroe, as well as others, with the real Esther Williams, is a comparison as grotesque as comparing a Volkswagon with a Mercedes. I only I'd had the chance to meet Esther when she was herself.

Hal Pritzker Esther is amazing, but Marilyn Monroe was as well. Don't compare women. They were both lovely.

I uderstand your in love But no-one calls Monroe a fraud on my watch . Pull your head in . Who care's if you met Esther . She would be appauld by your post. A true legend .. Way ahead of her time. She'd keep winning gold medals . Argue

By this time Esther's box office appeal had waned considerably. In fact, this was the only Esther Williams film to lose money....the writing was on the wall. MGM dropped her contract after this film. ...and Marilyn Monroe was taking over as box office queen.
