You have done a remarkable job with this film tribute, Filmclassics1. Your music meshed perfectly with the images unlike some other videos I've seen. The actress in the red dress is the lovely Frances Gifford. And the shot you used of Esther at 1:57 was luscious. She looked very sensuous. TCM did well to spotlight her as Star of the Month and to have her at their first film festival last year. You did a great job. She's soooo gorgeous! Meg.
Lindo lindo lindo filme com atriz Esther Williams rainha das piscina grande nadadora bela Sereia grande atriz. Obrigado pelo vidio Brasil mogi das Cruzes SP.
Your download shows the most striking shots of one of the most beautiful actresses that seldom if ever get onto videos of "the 50 most beautiful women" (and such)....she is so underrated in that sense and exceeds many of the other actresses on those lists.
It is true that Esther had the talent and discipline to become a great diver and swimmer for her time. But but she also proved she that same talent and discipline to become a successful actress. After all, many of her most successful roles were in films that were no where near a pool.
I haven't seen any of Williams's movies, but all her "What's My Line" appearances are adorable! This is a lovely tribute to a beautiful and elegant lady. :)
Descansa en paz Estercita! mil gracias por estas bellas escenas! ahora a nadar y ser la reina eterna del agua en el paraíso,..... a lot of love and peace.... bon voyage
That explains so much...thank you. I really only know the Esther Williams of the 1950's- she wore her hair shorter, body even more sculpted, and seemed to be presented even more athletically, re: "Million Dollar Mermaid," "Dangerous When Wet," "Texas Carnival," Easy To Love," etc. Gotta check this one out soon. She is a babe!!
Hello! Those dives are wonderful aren't they? This video uses clips from the 1945 film "Thrill of Romance." One of my favorites :-) Best Regards, David.

I thought I knew all her films, but I don't recognize the one featuring all these slow-motion springboard dives. Does anyone know-- they are gorgeous!! I especially love the last one- the backward swan dive (don't know if that is the right description, LOL).
1) Picture Opens 2) Water Water Everywhere 3) Esther Shows up 4) Thats not bad She had some sort of gravitas ..along with other assets but we didnt mind the ever present water she didn't mind either so as the years go by we still have those images inviting us all in...
I have said this on other videos of hers, especially on Whats My Line. Compare Esther to current beautiful star Adrienne Palicki and tell me if they don't look like twins. They're both tall, athletic women with different hair colors every time you see them. Both are amazing!
@Bonesfan4life - Nope! They had to create some. The normal 'pancake' make-up they used in movies back then, just melted away when she hit the water. Her hair was also chalk full of vaseline and baby oil to keep it's shape! Yuck!
The tribute is as gorgeous as the lady herself. Especially that magnificent slow-motion dive@ 2:30. Many thank-you's.
Damn, one of the greatest!
I can imagine the number of men who stood in line for her affection. Awesome athlete and beauty. RIP.

Wow! I am speechless! What a beautiful, talented woman.
@HM0880 Well thank you. I have to agree - from what I've seen, her appearances on "What's my Line" are some of the best of them all. :)
