At the filming of her water ballet, Eddie (Josh Brolin) gives DeeAnna (Scarlett Johansson) some PR advice on getting married before she has her baby.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Slick Hollywood fixer Eddie Mannix (Josh Brolin) is pressed into action when superstar actor Baird Whitlock (George Clooney) is kidnapped and held for ransom by a mysterious group. Mannix races to quietly collect the ransom money without gossip columnists Thessaly and Thora Thacker (Tilda Swinton in a dual role) catching wind of the scandal. Alden Ehrenreich, Ralph Fiennes, Scarlett Johansson, Jonah Hill, Frances McDormand, and Channing Tatum co-star in this comedy set in Hollywood's golden age. Directed by Joel and Ethan Coen.

I really like that they are portraying the 1950s Hollywood studios owning everything, like even the actors' private lives and image, because that was common.

At the same time she's being this ethereal mermaid creature while the 50's movie is being filmed, she still has these diva mundane really funny maneirisms! People get mesmerized by her beauty, but she's also very sensible and witty xD

You have so many examples: Sir Ian McKellen (Royal Shakespeare Company and National Theatre of Great Britain), Dame Judi Dench (also having done Shakespeare in theatre), Adam Driver, Tom Hiddleston (studied in Cambridge and Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, and does reading literature sessians , such as Jonh le Carré, Tolstoy Shakespeare..), Michael Fassbender, or less known mainstream actors but who gave their great contribution like Catherine McCormack... And I don't know of course all instances...
If that is your attempt to help someone to get an alternative better education, the little surliness embedded in it, is not encouraging at all of and makes it fail miserably. Have a good and happier day please.

They probably filmed it backwards and then edited it in reverse
That's exactly what they did. Notice the bubbles before she emerges. Those were definitely the bubbles produced by lowering her in.
and that's how they filmed the Esther Williams scene they took ispiration of (look for "Millior Dollar Mermaid" on youtube, it makes the Scarlett Johansson scene looks minimal compared to it)
This is was SO badly done. Really not discret and noticeable at first glance.

It's an old special effects trick they often used in "aquatics" of that era, where they would shoot the actress going into the water, and then rewind it to make it look like she's rising magically out of the water completely dry and composed. Though how they managed to shoot such a scene on a live set is a mystery that can only be explained as parody.

1:11 is brilliant in its simplicity. Reversed footage is normally obvious, but somehow the waves look natural and nothing gives it away.
You sense something’s off, but it’s like a good magic trick. Once it’s explained you can’t unsee it, but you now respect its simplicity and the skill to do it well.
Sadly today you usually just assume everything is CGI, instead of thinking “how did they do that?” and engaging your imagination.
This is fabulous because of how ridiculous it is! I loved every scene in this movie!

Bubbles Smubbles. I came out of a coma to see this. (almost, really) It was such a pleasure. Gorgeous to look at, and just great fun. I needed this film. I think my favorite scene was the Chinese restaurant. Beautiful. Brolin and that hair were perfection. Big fan of Intolerable Cruelty, The Coca Cola Kid, The Good Thief, Inherent Vice, and all things shining.
Fun fact: this wa shot on the same stage at Sony Pictures as Doc Ocs pier lair and the final fight of spider-man 2
Fun Fact: My cousin has a friend who works for the Coens as a casting director.
The Coens always get it right!
This has got to be one of the hottest dives in cinema history!

I am aware. Those are some of the others tbh. Also her aquabatics and such. Million dollar mermaid is an undisputed number one. But this video is still A tier.
