love it people need to do more reviews like this I have trouble finding reviews like this , most revies are just any 980ti
Nice video as I am currently torn between either of these cards to purchase at some point soon. Thanks for great review.
So, what do you guys think of the dark background? Do you prefer it light or dark? Let us know!
+Vortez Dark looks better for me
+Vortez Dark
+Vortez dark is good~
+Tamás “Dev0603” Feik Good idea, thanks.
+Vortez Dark looks great!
ive got myself the g1 as the extreme was not out at the time. very happy and satisfied with the purchase.
Hey man, just wanna say your channel helped me make a few purchase decisions for my first build. I appreciate how straightforward the infos are with the vids. Transitioning from console and mac. Lol. Cheers from the Philippines!
+Cholo Hermosa This is great to hear - thanks for watching. PC gaming is the way forward!
Fantastic job mate, I really like the look of the extreme LED lighting, looking like something out of Johnny quest
Great review on both cards. I'm actually looking at the card right now and both looks to be same price on Amazon. Like the RGB Lighting on the Extreme as well.
Hello mate, I really like your reviews, they are awesome , specially when u take the cards apart, u don't often see that. Keep up the great work!
finally the review of the xtreme edition came, very good review, like the new dark background :)
Dark background looks great and fantastic !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you.
I have SLi 980 Ti G1 Gaming and is awesome! Both cards running at 1352mhz boost and i'm not passed the 70º C barrier in 4K. Only one of the cards near the CPU cooler run at 72 ºC sometimes, but the space between both cards are small and is normal. the other never gets more than 68º C.
I'm very happy and run almost all games at 4K eaSLI :D
I'm excited about the other Extreme card at 66º C in witcher 3. Good job gigabyte :)
+PLAYNIMATIONS Oh and thanks for the 4K video!!! Great job and it's nice to watch in 4K 50fps!
+PLAYNIMATIONS Thanks for watching - glad you liked the video. That 4K takes a long time to process but glad its appreciated! Nice choice on the graphics cards by the way - what else are you running there?
*****
Practically all benchmarks of games, sintetic like 3dmark, etc and play few games when i have time. The most played game is Skyrim. I love it. About 14.000 hours and hard modded :-)
Now i'm playing Far Cry Primal on 4K and destroys a friend titan X SLI. Anyway, no SLI support, but only one card runs about 45-60fps at 4K ULTRA maximun and my friend Extreme Titan X(i don't know what is EVGA, MSI...), but is about 30-36fps only in 4K ULTRA. Both SLI disabled.
My PC is i7 4790k at stock- HT on - No turbo at 4 ghz on air on Cooler Master V8 GTS.
32gb DDR3 1600mhz (Windows 7 Professional 64 bit for more than 16gb) and Samsung EVO 850 SSD 500GB. Is not the best, but runs fine. The case are hand-modded by me and i have a few 120mm fans in some places. The interior of my case are well but the air in the holes to the exterior are very hot :-)
sorry about my english I'm entirelly think in spanish and use few words i learn in the past in the school 30 years ago :)
Yo, I have that gigabyte gtx 980 ti xtreme. really awesome job with the comparisons between the g1 and xtreme. there both great cards regardless.
I chose the xtreme over the g1 due to it being a recent release and at the time of purchase, it was a $20 price difference. the leds are amazing! especially if you have a horizontal motherboard PC case.
excellent content as always!
+Ruck Thanks! $20 difference is nothing - you did well there, you must be pleased with that!
+Ruck
hey man, hows the noise level? quiet or loud side? thanks!
+ghreleey18 I also have it, very silent!
+visdom0 very silent, not just silent
Marble Grimes I did say "very silent" :D
Thanks for the review. helped me make my mind between the 2
Wow that xtreme is beefy reminds me of their SOC range from a few years ago.
Great Vids :D Subscribed GJ!
I have owned both cards. I actually traded my xtreme gaming for a g1 because the xtreme gaming does not have a full-coverage water block. Planning to do a custom loop soon. Both overclock really well. Xtreme gaming with as 76% asic got to 1500mhz, while g1 gaming with 65% asic nearly matched it with 1480mhz. Both cards could get 7800mhz effective memory clock My G1 gaming actually runs cooler by about 2C.
+Dave Engwer But...RGB?
+Dave Engwer EKWB has them now too bad you traded it
dude ! can u show the test of 2 cards in 1 game then move to the next game, will be easier to compare, i couldnt remeber the result of the first when i watch the next card :(
By the way, good video bro !
Very nice review!!!!! im going to buy the extreme version :)
+Marcel Buschmann Thanks for watching my friend. Enjoy!
Thank you so much for this review! I can't decide between the Gigabyte G1 gaming GTX 980 ti and the Gigabyte GTX 980 ti Xtreme, or else the EVGA GTX 980 ti SC+ and the EVGA GTX 980 ti FTW.
+Arcanum Lux Unless you already bought. G1 and extreme gaming are cooler and have higher clocks. The choice is pretty easy.
+visdom0 after an immense amount of research I have decided to go with the G1, haven't bought it yet because I've been waiting for it to go on sale but it has just gotten to $620 on sale so I'm going to buy it. Thank you for your input tho! It just solidified my decision to go with G1.
May I ask, why did you not show the FPS for Star Wars: Battlefront or Witcher 3?
I definitely need a new pc, my graphics card revs up just watching this video
+Cookie Monster Rcm ! What are you running??
I noticed you did not give music source. Where can I find the tracks used in this video? Shazam can't seem to find the track used during the gameplay footage.
Asus 980 ti 20th anniversary gold edition is the fastest 980 ti GPU in the market right now.
no it's not
+BulletBlaze Yeah it will get you maybe 2-3fps better than the Xtreme on average but for SO MUCH more money, I mean in Australia it's $1049 for the Xtreme one and $1300 for the Gold Edition. Gigabyte are substantially better in terms of price-to-performance. Also, RGB :D
Also, xtreme runs cooler and quieter brah.
Killbot Games The Zotac model is slightly older than the Gigabyte Xtreme and the Asus 20th anniversary gold edition, but when it came out, yes it was the fastest. Now, though, it has been beat. Also, if you have seen any GTX 1080 benchmarks, that is the new Nvidia king.
u make your own music? I heard trillion in the track at the end. Me like me trillion.
I'm getting two Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 Ti G1 Gaming 6GB and a ik7 6500
i got 980ti xtreme ... is totally beast !!!!
the xtreme looks more bulky and basically it just radiates with raw power, and dont get me started when those LED light up....compered to all that the G1 looks....meeeh imo
Hi man i might be wrong but only 40fps on witches 3 pretty bad for a card that has higher capability? Great videos never the less man keep it up.
+ItsChrliee Thanks! :) Most GTX 980Ti cards will deliver around 30-45fps at 4K in the Witcher 3. Unfortunately its quite a demanding game and once you ramp things up to 4K any card will start struggling (do a quick google search for "980Ti Review The Witcher 3" and check out benchies with 4K res).
+Vortez Didn't realise the game was so demanding, maybe I should rethink purchasing the game as my MSI GTX 960 4GB might not be able to handle it :D
+ItsChrliee if your running at 1080,1440, or 2066 you shouldn't have a problem. As Vortez stated any card will have a sort of hard time running newer and more graphic intensive games. Try the resolutions I've listed and your 960 should do fine 😄
Please Help!
Which performs better 970 xtreme or 980ti xtreme?? From what I gather the 970 xtreme was released after the 980ti xtreme. I ask because I currently have an opportunity to buy either one of them. Please help
Good video but I can't get excited about current gen cards anymore (even though I'm still rocking a 280X). Waiting for next gen Pascal / Polaris before gpu news becomes interesting again.
+Dave crabs Do agree with you to an extent. It's that quiet period for graphics at the moment, it'll soon start getting exciting again! :)
HI, I am about to purchase one or the other out of these 2 cards."" GV-N98TXTREME-6GD"" or ""GV-N98TXTREME C-6GD"". According to gigabyte website, the only difference is core clock speed; one being higher right out of the box than the other set at lower but still higher than reference card. Now, my real question is; Did gigtabye guys buy bulk of chips from NVIDIA and test them to see which can go overclocked higher and labeled them 6GD and the rest inferior chips to C-6GD? I just don't wanna buy C-6GD just to realize it won't overclock like 6GD and blame gigabyte selling junks. thanks in advance.
Cody Choi yes 6GD Gauntlet picked as gigabyte call it for higher overclocks.
Hello. Can we make an SLI between c is 2 card? If yes what caret put it first?
1430mhz boost 1585mhz oc valide sur 3D Mark firestrike (22115)
What are your rig specs?
which mother did u used on video????
Which PSU would best suit this Graphics Card according to the number of pins please someone HELP
Personal Computer:
Motherboard: - Asus Z170-A.
CPU : - i7 6700k.
GPU: - GTX 980Ti Xtream gaming.
Ram: -16GB DDR4. with a 620w power supply all good? or i need a better power supply
I reccomend 750W at the least
+Maxa Moose will do it with 650
+Maxa Moose why wud i need 750? xd
+Maxa Moose do the math how much W wud i need max 550
The 980Ti XTREME all said and done takes in around anywhere from 480W-560W or more depending on your configuration or load. A 6700k will probably take your wattage to about 600W full load and I don't know about you but that's really threading the needle. You could get away with a 650W but a 750W gives you more headroom and better efficiency at that level of voltage, I would say your voltage would probably sit around 500-550 during normal daily use and EVGA 750W PSU's have been know to be efficient at around that 60-70% load (the modular ones)
can you tell me how much different between Xtreme Gaming and G1 Gaming if both fans set to 100% spinning ? because my GTX 970 Xtreme Gaming on 100% fans spin around 2940RPM and GTX 970 G1 Gaming on 100% fans spin around 3170RPM
+Exarus Gaming Tips Have just done a test for you of both cards @ 100% fan speed. G1 Gaming: 3596RPM - XTREME Gaming: 3606RPM.
CAN YOU COMBINE THE 2 OF FOR SLI USE ?
Gigabyte is slowly winning me over from Asus in terms of price-to-performance.
is the Xtreme gaming on the loud or quiet side? Thank you!
+gherleey18 Quiet.
are these better then ASUS STRIX GeForce GTX 980TI Overclocked 6 GB DDR5 384-bit DisplayPort HDMI 2.0 DVI-I Gaming Graphics Card
+monkey1526 There isn't much difference but if you look at the full review on vortez.net - you'll see the XG is slightly better. So it depends on the price you can get them!
+Daniel Urry thanks
what monitor did you use ?
+pytbul13 AOC 28" 4K U2868 PQU
i love my gigabyte 980 ti g1
How does the Xtreme Gaming compare to Zotac's Amp Extreme?
+darealjulz The Zotac compared to the XTREME/G1 is nothing.
+Fresh Style thanks for your response, you have some sheets/comparision data?
darealjulz well, you can go online and do the research. I did. It's fun to look around and see some facts yourself.
One thing that you should firstly think about is that XTREME/G1 are both overclocked from factory, so they already run at a high, over standard 980TIs, frequencies. Plus, they both have special features which are not that common (not talking necessarily about the lightning they both have). I would personally wouldn't choose Zotac in front of XTREMR/G1. I am buying the XTREME myself.
+Fresh Style I did a lot of research and couldnt find anything legit and valuable, except a few hours ago :) In case some ppl wonder: this extreme gaming card just outperforms a zotac amp extreme and a bunch of other 980ti cards, i wouldnt bother to say its the most powerfull 980ti at the market atm (without counting the asus 20th anniversary gold edition which also costs much more)
295mm vs 287mm, for many people this is really impotant, so i think ex version much better
Would these cards give me any benefits in programs like After Effects and Cinema 4D over my current GPU which is the GTX 770 with 2GB .....? :D
+Igor Bajic (iggorr2-5) no ofc not, you would need 7-way crossfire with R9 Nano all watercooled to see a difference
yeah that sounds like a monster config :D THX for the answer :D
Igor Bajic now seriously if you havent seen it yet go check the linus 7 gamers 1 cpu video. it has 7 r9 nanos on it its crazy
Cool :D I will do that :D
they're not in crossfire
Can I put those GPU's in SLI? If yes is a 650 W PSU enough?
I doubt you could SLI these with a 650w PSU.
Try an 750w to make sure
vortex I can't seem to find a video that tells me the best
980 ti's out there. I'm trying to build a really good pc. I'm putting $2500 into my pc. I really like the extreme gaming. but I'm afraid as soon as I buy it, I will find something better. can you just guide me. I been stuck looking like crazy at youtube videos. and if I get the XG should I just duel them? thanks!
+monkey1526 Have you bought the other parts yet? What screen size will you be going for?
+Vortez right now I'm just gonna use my 56 inch 1080p t.v. but I do plan to buy a 4k monitor next month. and my set up will be.
32g of ram
msi ddr4 m7 motherboard
250 gb ssd
intel core i7 6700
1 tb hard drive
850w power supply
corsair 780t tower case
etc....
and hopfully the xtreme gaming if it as good as you say. I plan to duel but in the future.
thanks for writing back as well
+monkey1526 If you're planning to game @ 4K resolution then you should certainly look at getting two cards if you're planning to max out the detail settings. With one card, some of the most demanding games will force you to med-high settings in return for fluid framerates. If you wanted to save some money - you could always go for two 970 XG but if money isn't a problem and you want the outright best, 980Ti XG it is! :) Hope this helps.
+Vortez thanks alot dude. I will get two of these then thanks (:
nice video
Just bought one.
+Aaron Goodrich which one ?
Xtreme. It's shipping to me today.
From everything I've read and watched a wise choice.
+Aaron Goodrich How is it?
Well... 1562 mhz on air. Memory is over 8k.
+Aaron Goodrich damn dude I wish i could do that. Can it do that in game or was that the synthetic benchmark number? I had an xtreme, 76% asic score, wouldn't be stable past about 1490mhz on Witcher 3. i tried for 1500mhz core and 8000 memory on both bios and it would either downclock or freeze. I could get to about 1550mhz on Firestrike, but in game it would lock up. Got a G1 right now at 1480mhz and memory at 7.8k.And that's with an asic of 65%. ASIC has no meaning to me lol.
360p. Came too soon.
has been stuck on 360p for over 3 hours!! :/
getting this in 2017 lol...fuckin miners man
that sexy voice (? hahaha
man give me one :(
Nice presentation .....come check out my new build ........I'm hoping to use this GPU the XTREME ......on my Intel I7 6700k skylake......gigabyte -z170x gaming 7 motherboard ....corsair vengeance LPX 3600mhz with active cooling .....corsair hx850i fully modular platinum power supply.....Kingston hyperX savage 480gb SSD .....WD blue 1T back up ......DIYPC D480-White mid tower comes pre installed with five 120mm fans 3 are blue led ...,,,,,,I used 1 sheets of fun foam from Michaels to make grommets.....I used a cooler master hyper T2 in the video ...but I did a install video of a CRYORIG H5a CPU cooler that works amazing .....the T2 was spiking to 81c under load .......I really like the RGB lighting on the XTREME
+SteveJ619 How much ram you put? 16GB? 32GB?
+Julian Taffa when I bought ram that was my first piece ......there was only 4gig sticks of 3600hz ram I was also able to find 3866hz 4gig sticks .....but the 3866 cost a whole lot more.....I'm waiting for 16gigs sticks of 3866 corsair vengeance LPX for a about $200 a pair then I will get 4 sticks .....now I have two 4gig sticks with a total of 8gigs....and I just installed the gigabyte gtx 970 XTREME with the LED angel eye fans ....it's extremely quiet..was released November 2015 I received tom Clancy division free with the card and it plays it in max settings ....I will post a video soon I'm still recording pieces of the video
