Good point. You die of suffocation, if their isn't an independent source of air, should the main entrance be blocked. Secondly, you would have to dig your way out, from the shelter, from under what might be 4-10 feet of dirt. Not cool dude.

@@tomriggle3217 my point exactly, my friend. It becomes a tomb, instead of a womb. Backup power supplies are becoming commonplace now. What with the advent of new battery formulas, the future looks very promising when looking for a tertiary power supply. In 6 months, maybe a year from now, graphene solid state batteries will deliver three times the power for the same weight of Lithium Ion batteries. A "true" bunker will have at least three sources of power, and a means to recharge said batteries.

  • @RayJames552

Why not use 12 volt lighting , refrigerator rather than 110 and 220? You could put some solar panels up top and they could feed pawer to you as long as they are not damaged or covered. Possible you could after an event - suit up, take panels out and place them then come back in and shower . Feed to batteries in bunker. much smaller gas generator and much less fuel. No washer, dryer, dishwasher doing it that way but I think you could do that by hand. Run small Gen set if you want to run microwave/ need to charge batteries.
Do you run a radio Antena out to receive /send signal?
I would have shower in entrance way. You come thru a change shower room on the way into the bunker is how I think that should be set up.

Although I cannot afford a bunker, I did notice a few things.
    1) First and foremost, only one way in and only way out? Both doors open to the outside = if you piss me off and don't let me in, I will just blockade your door and let you die in your expensive coffin.
    2) Did not see much storage space. A stockpile of survival food takes up a lot of space.
    3) A lot of unnecessary luxuries, a dishwasher, seriously? I think SHTF you have plenty of free time to save energy and do your own dishes.
    4) Was not mentioned, but how much safe water storage do they have outside and is it secure and free from possible contamination?
    5) Was not mentioned, power source? You are using 220V that is a huge drain on a battery bank. Are they planning on SHTF always having grid tied power?
    6) Was not mentioned, air circulation is not good without air removal as well. What kind of exhaust system is designed into the bunker? CO2 builds up and doesn't matter how much clean air you "try" to pump in if there is nowhere for the old air (CO2) to leave the bunker.
    7) Was not mentioned, maybe the most important, waste removal? Did see a flushing toilet, but that is human waste, what about common trash? Are you planning on leaving the bunker every 2 or 3 days to remove trash build up? If so, see #1.

On the subject of a dishwasher its much better to use a dishwasher to conserve on water most people will waste an ass ton of water washing dishes by hand where as a cheap and I mean the 200 dollar cheap ass dishwasher only uses about 5 to 6 gallons of water to do 4 to 6 days worth of dishes and as for the power if you do not run the heat cycle a dishwasher hardly uses power.. Also try as you might you nor any person will NEVER get a dish as clean and sanitary as a dishwasher can do using 160 degree water witch is the temp used to sanitize on any dishwasher. If they can afford that big of a bunker I am sure the guy made sure they know they need a generator and battery bank so when the gen is running to charge battery's is when you would do your dishes and wash your cloths and heat the water. dont get me wrong I could be wrong about the gen but god i hope not and they do not just think there will always be power otherwise they are going to die fast lol

These folks clearly have many tens (even hundreds) of thousands of dollars to spend on batteries and power generation for all that electrical equipment. Maybe they are shelling out for hydrogen electrolysis?
Why do they always put the filter inside the shelter? Now the fallout is building up in a metal box next to the bunks!

@@ZR195M ....and where are they gonna keep the fuel (oil, propane, kerosene, etc.) to keep that generator going? I'm quite wet-behind-the-ears when it comes to all this "mechanical" stuff but has anyone designed a generator that doesn't run on 'fossil' fuel?
If there's a need for a bomb-shelter and you only have electrical power from a generator, how's that gonna play out? Ya need something to power the generator, don't you??
We have a fairly new dishwasher (4-5 yrs. old) and on the 'energy-efficient & water saving cycle' it takes/uses 3 X 5 gal. buckets of water (that's 15 gallons of water each time)!! How do I know this, you may ask (?) - we've never had any of our 3 dishwashers 'piped in & out' due to possible leaks. When we have a full load, we attach the hoses (water going in and draining out) to the faucet via a "portable dishwasher attachment" and we wanted to find out just how much water it would 'consume' on the short cycle....hence the 5 gallon buckets! :-)

Some place your brother can stay, and you guys can hang out. A real Man Cave. You could build two, and make them join-able. and put one of those Home Depot big home sheds over the top... so hey, you just built a small house in which most all of your stuff is protected from serious storms, and is rather energy efficient on your heating bill. I'm sure with a certain amount of effort, one could do this up nicely.

I see an easy solution if the first barrier is compromised. Since it's what 16ft down to next level. Some where along stair case have several outlets where water can enter the area. Fill that compartment with water. Of course you would need to have drain to remove water later and have a seal on the door but if you are going to spend that much money on a shelter a couple thousand more bucks shouldn't matter. [I think have each step with screened outlets so that they can't be plugged to prevent water from entering area. Have the screen go almost the full length and height of each step. Expanded metal]

There are eight beds..so the minimal capacity suggested is eight persons... It is clear that installation does not fit enough resources like hot water or energy for cooking and washing machine. It is supposed were are talking about a real fallout and all the consequences that brings, so where will be gotten the energy needed for sustaining the lifestyle as it is considered in this shelter? This implies also fresh clean water, sooner or later even having a big tank, the reserve will exhaust, and any mechanism considered for a recycling properly filtered and put again into the tank will need energy...and so the problem continues. I think in the best case, this shelter could help for a few days of protection like tornadoes, or another short term natural disaster, but for bigger events like a nuclear fallout, I fear this shelter only can delay the end for the refugees into it, unless a miraculous appearing of "the cavalry" (i.e. government troops , National Guard, Police, etc etc) to send those people to a bigger shelter with long term resources.

Better hope they're not led. Shit fucks with your natural circadian rhythm, sleep cycles, eyes & much more. Fluorescent isn't much better. Standard old-school yellow lighting is best for your eyes and body because it more mimics our sun
