Just saw this. I grew up in Kansas in the 1960s.
There were credible fears of nuclear attacks. Great Duck and Cover exercises at my grade school.
My next door neighbor built a nuke shelter.
Some people laughed.
But we didn't
because our small houses had no basements.
Fall out shelters make great Tornado shelters!
Kansas is of course in the middle of Tornado Alley.
We used the shelter quite often when tornado alerts happened!
Tornadoes love to eat mobile homes and houses with no basements.
Today Tornado alerts are issued more accurately and with greater time before the tornadoes strike. So people have time to make it to their shelter.
All mobile homes should have access to an emergency shelter like this one!
Thanks
I agree. This would be an excellent tornado shelter, you could easily survive an EF-5 in this!
if anyone laughs at someone for wanting a bunker
the simple reply is "then why do governments build them ? "
How much?
Have u ever seen the duck and cover episode of south park? They are teaching the kids to duck and cover when a volcano erupts and a different episode they show the video because a monster is on the loose😂😂duck and cover From the monster yea that'll work 😂😂😂u gotta see it if u remember those drills its hilarious
When somebody's bomb shelter is nicer than your apartment.
Needs an emergency escape hatch in case the front hatch fails.
All that money into that and no plan B just in case and big ass wall fall on that escape hatch your done .
@@JoelTaylor734 what?! Radio !? WW3 starts who in the world are you going to call with a radio.
@@solidtangent9953 he said in a previous video the hatch can lift 16000 pounds
@@solidtangent9953 Or as simple as the lift cylinders fail. Your not lifting a 600 lb hatch from that ladder. Also, where does he get his electrical power from?
@@peterallen4605 batteries and a generator
This is a REAL BUNKER!!! That is so cool, very inspiring to see one in action!
Personally I'd have an escape tunnel additional highly concealed air intake exhaust vents in case obvious ones get blocked by raiders etc I'd also install covert cc tv etc to keep an eye around hatch air vents etc nice video nicely equipped bunker
yes, exactly! 'cause some person could walk up and "possibly" squeeze a can of lighter fluid into the pipe and light a match and if someone undeground in the shelter is not awake they could be seriously burned or suffocated?
Two words for ya, decoy pipes
@@pieman12345678987654 they’re bound to get the right pipes though.
@@mrpoopoohead7668 the pipes lead directly into the dirt as well as into the bunker so anything that gets shoved in there will just fall into the earth and will have no effect
Yeah I've got one with all that stuff. Its better than you think.
Keep some medicine storage too. Simple things like pain killers and of course the medicine people are usually under use. Good idea have some antibiotics covering urinary, intestinal and skin infection.
Great new video, Ron. Looking forward to talking soon.
I really wish I could afford this nice bunker! You do super work!
Wow, he even has coat hooks. That's amazing. He's so prepared.
go in there when power is out it's a lot cooler than having no ac
Great job well done to him and thank you for the video. :)
Such good intent , u can't knock the motives , a great space saving man cave . . Just hope the day never comes
beautiful, I love it great job !!
Wow this is AMAZING!!!! I love it!!!
I can imagine having guests when things look grim. "Look, I've got to ask you all to leave. I have to get into my bunker. There's only room for the dog and myself. So, good luck to you all."
Seriously cool! It easily doubles as a man cave, office, party hangout, added living space, guest room, or relaxing area.
I was thinking it would be good to built with an entrance from inside the house. You could use it as a living room in the summer months and then still keep it equipped for a disaster.
Great for a desert homestead, half the trouble starting a desert home is scavengers stealing from site. If i had one of these structures half built out, i could store my gear/building tools when out of town. Eventually turn the bunker into a guest home and air bnb the property up top.
Seems like it might have been a good idea to at least try to disguise the air pipes up top. That’s a vulnerability.
I thought the same thing. I would paint it to make it look like a natural gas pipeline easement going through the property, or disguise them otherwise.
You can buy super realistic plastic "boulders" that are made specifically for that. They are drilled for air flow on one side. I saw some bunker company that sold these to go with their bunkers. It may even be Atlas
I was thinking the same thing about those pipes.
perfect inlaw quarters!
Great video. I would love to see a vid on a larger bunker too.
Still my dream bunker
I’ll get there hopefully soon enough
A few things I’d like to see different. After closing the ground level hatch would be good to be able to move the foot bridge back to hide the hatch door.
Has it ever come up to have the submarine door open to the inside if it gets blocked on the out side you would be there forever.
When he first showed it I assumed the bridge was attached.
Idk much but are the air pipes the life line of the bunker? Would be interesting to see how they can be hidden via a hedge, false yard ornament, ran into a small shed, through a wall and to a roof maybe? Idk. Just thinking big. What happens if someone on the outside wants in and jams it? All that being said love your work Ron! Wish I could afford one. Keep up the good work brother!
Definitely needs to be hidden ! Seems the only weak spot but it's a huge weak spot.
If I was solo, I'd rather just live in one of these full time. Buy a patch of land within commute distance of work, get you guys to put one of these in, build a little tool shed over it, and literally LIVE here.
Awesome. 8 miles south of Boston a bunker like this would fit in most any of the not so large properties here.
In a minute every American will need one of these shelters.
EXCELLENT WORK! Five stars.
This is the best one I've seen!!! I just watched the movie Greenland with asteroids and the few survivors were in a bunker! Some shelters I've seen those flimsy doors with tiny latches would not stay shut in a direct hit of a n5 tornado. Your's would! Plus looks comfortable!
Always nice to see that rich people will be just fine during the apocalyps
Thanks for sharing such important information. Boy oh Boy, this looks like a cost effective solution (ie: Under $200K?) for a personal family bomb or fallout shelter. Food for thought: Is the toilet a shower like in RV's? How well would this shelter stand up to severe flooding (if there is any major bodies of water in this area).
Where’s the shower room? And how were you able to dig and install that in the backyard with that tight space? Thanks for sharing. I want one of those.
A few small things I would add. Games / activities book movies. You need to keep yourself from going crazy. A desk of cards doesn’t take up much space. And I would add curtains by the bed so each person has a space in the bunker that’s just for them.
Awesome. This guy has thought about everything.
I love this setup. I have a pool sized backyard in Vegas but would love to have a bunker.
Nice!!!!!
This thing is awesome. Better then my little bunker. Love it bro
Meco
Viktor Lopez 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
lucky lol
at least u have a bunker
Wait, have you done a video on your bunker?
he work very much on this bunker man very much i apriciate that guy
I noticed no escape hatch on this one.
Was thinking, for the external hatch face, where the padlock goes, is an issue for me. What if some joker puts a padlock, or even just a bit of wire, through when you are in your bunker, is there a way to still open the hatch from the inside? The last thing I would want is to get all cozied up, find out it’s a false alarm, but be locked in my bunker with no way out.
Actually you can't lock someone in by locking the hatch because there is a pin on the inside that can be pulled out to release the bar connected to the lock tongue. I used to work at underground tunnels at a grain mill that had these emergency pullout pins on the inside of the locked hatches so the workers could escape if the main exit was blocked for any reason.
@@freddiestinson1117 a sore looser could fill in the hole just for spite
I love your bunkers! I will be saving up my money so I can buy one in the future! :D
I’d share a bunker with you 😂😂😂
@@theinsolentlynx thats a weird thing to say
I have a question, first, won't the solar power system just be destroyed by the blast? And how can the bunker be powered alternately? Second, won't the air valve just be again, destroyed by the blast? Third, won't the escape tunnel leak through radiation? What is the overpressure valve for, and can you survive in the bunker while being inside the fireball?
Awesome bunker man.
That's the BEST I've seen!
Curious to know what the cost of installing one of these sized bunkers is.
I love it awesome job
Better to move to Coober Pedy, Australia, you might find an opal while enlarging your home.
Ah, i see you purchased the leather couch in a bag. Fun when they expand.
now this is amazing
I mean this is crazy I never thought I would find my apartment on you tube lol this is nuts lol
I need one in my backyard!
Awesome
Better to have than not have. I like it has some flaws though. As mentioned better hidden air pipes & it should have a secondary exit. Just in case you know. I have good way in mind it should be done.
Very cool, I would love to build something like this. I'm not sure about in Florida though. The water Table is way too high especially in the summer. Thanks for the video.
It has a submarine door😂.
Thanks for sharing .
Coming from sombody who's worked in ICBM silos your NBC scrubbers better be pretty damn good and always have back up to the back up on the power supply along with a monster H2O supply just for starters.
Great shelter. But is there an adaptor of some kind so the air pump can be ran manually of off an exercise bike? The hand pump is great but something that would circulate the air while working out would be a game changer.
That's a great idea. I'm assuming the couch was put in before it was buried. Haha.
Great place to just go if you want to cool off and have some peace and quiet. Imagine being comfortable, and having all you need while a tornado is right above you causing catastrophe.
I have the Wise Dehydrated food too that he has under the floor. I have 6 months of food for 2 people right now. I will add to that with other things too.
You can go with bean bag furniture.
Question.
i noticed you lock and then unlock the door from the otherside. Then you came in and locked it back up. Whats to stop someone from unlocking it from the other side?
Is it a “real bunker at a real house”?
I wasn’t sure if that was mentioned
Excellent!
How did that couch get in there.
Mark Vandyke This is a very underrated question, take it apart maybe? I feel like just the back wouldn't make the turn in the door though.
Well, it isn't going out thats for sure.
they probably put it in there before the shelter was fully built, like when it had no roof.
All the backs pull off and then it fits through the door. We bought that exact couch as a replacment for our rv couch.
Inflatable 😉
Do you need a septic system under this if you want full toilet, shower & laundry function? Is it better to plug into your sewer system?
What's the price on this one? I'm looking for something like this for my backyard as well here in AZ. Looks like the perfect size for 2 people and 2 dogs👍
Gee! You got to love all the comments in here. I would bet none have even been in a private shelter, much less own one.
Why would it matter if they haven't? Anybody can figure out this bunker's flaws could lead to people dying inside. The purpose of a shelter is to protect you from danger, but if that danger suddenly impedes your air pipes or blocks your door, you're basically living inside your tomb.
Nice set up.
My 2 cents, the ventilation could easily be ran through the pipes holding the back porch up.
Weld the door shut and stuff the vents is my first thought - no where near secure to rest with that set up, it’s nice but the oversight is wild
That thing is still nicer than my first house
love it. the best shelter to defend is the one no one knows is even there
Lol the air vents scream im down here
What if the trapdoor just stops working? There is no way you can push it.
As equipped with all the scrubbers etc etc what did THIS actual unit cost??
How much does it cost?
I see the DC power coming on but would you have plenty of that light ready for it?
I can see the toilet on it but isn't that a chemical toilet?
How much water does it have on board?
Great job with you guys. !!!
Nice bunker
Wow a real person
I wonder if you can lock the hatch from the inside. And if so, how?
Cool. Really cool.
I like tha ham radio.
Great movie sir,thanks a lot!
I'd prefer a cheese phone over a ham radio though.
Much better sustainability and you can fight off lactose intolerant zombies with it.
Run them a ways up the palm tree side then put working LED lights inside. Landscape lighting accents. You also need another way out
That's all most people need..yeah it's going to tight but its something
I would go nuts in such a small space over a long period of time.
Wild man!
I like this best. Pull out the two bunks install a shower, desk and chair.
Wow is fantastic
Is that a CO2 fire extinguisher for use in a sealed space?!
Very cool!!
I love it. Does moisture condense on the metal?
Where do you get a 20ft and 8ft tall culvert pipe?!
how is the bridge placed back on top of the entrance when you are getting into the shelter ?
How do you get the bridge to cover the entrance again once your in?
Should have one of those in Oklahoma just as a tornado shelter.
In the upcoming ten years I'll be one of your customer, I want a bunker large enough to accommodate 50 people with a gun range(only small) a garage and is built on an island in the Philippines, I don't care how much it will cost me but I hope your up for the task.
That is super cool
Very, very cool also very smart..........
Really nice but I would have 2 ways out. Also I would have a slide hatch to stick a firearm out of with a camera on the outside.
How much does all this cost?
If crap hits the fan, I hope they make it. Not JUST a shelter, but a READY shelter.
Wish that was available in the UK. I would get one.
Wow, you sold me on it!
Nice tomb.
Now that's what I call the preparation.
Really cool. I could Never stay in one.
