Glad to be back Ladies and Gents! Don't forget to post questions and such and I will be sure to add it to the list for upcoming videos!
Hey Mike Glad your back!! So we're still running latest in the 6.0 series. I know you weren't big on 6.2.4 but would you recommend 6.2.7? Would you recommend version 6.4.4 for production use right now?
@@JoeyGarcia didn't fortinet release 6.2.7 a few days after 6.2.6? I am always so worried about upgrading my Fortigate firmware, and these rapid patches IE: 6.2.5 and 6.2.7 don't give me a lot of confidence. Bring on LTS!
@@patrickwilliams7210 Hmm...I didn't notice. Let me check the release dates on the previous versions to 6.2.7 - Ok, just going by the dates on the firmware download page. 6.2.6 and 6.2.7 were roughly a month apart.
So damn glad you're back. Been missing my regular dose of learning from the guru!
Pretty happy about the LTS. Been using Fortigate for over 10 years and the firmware circus has been a ride for sure. Thanks for sharing.
Good to see you back. Always appreciate your point of view on Fortinets decision. Keep up the good stuff!
Awesome that you are finally back. Saw your pics on twitter and knew you were still around. Indeed great news about the LTS but I can't wait to watch your new videos. 👍👍
Hi, could you please make a video on network segmentation in fotigate " zones " & best practices.
I'd still love to see another Fortinet vs... Maybe a video on multiple other vendors
Not bad. Or some updated ones of previous.
Great to see you back! I hope you are well and I'm looking forward to watching your new videos.
Glad to hear you back online.
Welcome back glad to know you are doing well
Glad you are still alive man! I was legit worried, as you saw in a few of my comments 😂
Happy to see you back. Good video. Hope you're doing well, mate.
Glad to see you back Mike!
Good stuff man! Great idea on the VoIP stuff.
Welcome back! Nice to see you again. I see you had been absent from the Fortinet Forums and had wondered... hope you enjoyed the break.
glad you're back, not a Fortinet guy (SonicWall here), but like the info as you never know, one day i could change, but for now i'm happy
A lot of the foundational knowledge transfers
Glad to see u again :)
Happy tp see you again. I was worry to not see your youtube again.. Continue You help us a lot.
hey dude just wanted to give ya a shoutout with all the work you've done on this channel. you're videos are prime time to me and has been extremely informational for such a 'niche' network product lineup. keep it up my dude!
most of us gained a few pounds over the covid year, I wouldn't feel to bad about that. just means you'll have to go harder in the spring :p
Finally LTS from fortinet. Thanks for the update Mike.
Happy New Year Mike! Honestly new features are nice and all, but stability and security should have been Fortinet's primary focus from day 1. Looking forward to the new videos.
Welcome back :)
I was told by a FortiNet engineer that the next FortiOS release will be 7.0. The number 6.6 seems to be "bad" in some parts of the world.
6.6.6 😈
We miss You bro!
I'm in the process of deploying NAC using EMS Rules, it's working a treat in the lab so keen to get your view on it.
Are you ref. to nac in fortios or fortinac?
Hey Mike, glad to see you back.
Are you having issues with 802.11AX like we are?
Not yet, will have to see if any of my clients running that are hitting snags.
I've been using the Rackmount IT for 60Fs that I've been deploying and they work great. Only around 100 bucks each too, not that bad.
Yes- I’ve used one too. Very good quality and work well!
i don't expect 6.6.0 the only version with new stuff and then from 6.6.1 only fixes and stability, not sure how they will handle it, but that sounds too perfect a change
Hey Bro, nice to see your advice on the FGs. Q, Apparently ver 6.4.4. has bugs with Policy effectiveness in either Profile or Policy mode. I have a FG60E which I recently ipgraded to 6.4.4. & I am frustrated. If U can confirm that in your next video, is greatly apprecuated. Thanks.
Finally!!!!
I will definetly will like to see some guidance on voip behind a FGT, i have site running 5+ asterisk based different distros pbx, and we have to disabled sip alg in order to have stability, any thoughts on that?
@Shehriyar Ahmed at first i resolved it but then i found out that after a while if i modify a security policy it didnt change session were still like before, like if sip alg get used to it and had priority and the security policy didnt matter, we had to rebbot the fgt, clear sessions didnt work, and rebooting on a call center that operates 24x7 its very hard to do
Hi Mike, I'd like to see traffic limiting on my wan connection for my guest wifi. I don't have my head around that yet, and need to throttle down that so it doesn't suck the bandwidth from my machine. I have a 60F at home with the RackMountIT rack, and it certainly cleans up my closet.
Hi. Any review of FortiOS 7 soon?
Mike what you have done to you :p "new year new me" ?:D btw pity that Fortinet doesnt have solutions for home. Cheaper license etc.. like for example Sophos XG
Hello Mike!! Happy new year, I hope you are fine and safe. :D I wanted to ask you if you have had problems with app recognision with the NGFW (policy-based) mode activated. I experienced some problems for example with Microsoft SQL. The fortinet has the app signature but was unable to recognize it and blocked the traffic. We had to create a personalized service (so sad we had to do this and forget the NGFW) to make the firewall pass the traffic.
Yeah. I haven’t transitioned to ngfw mode for many clients yet due to some bugs they have has outstanding for what seems like forever.
Just discovered your channel. I used to be a fortinet guy at my last job a couple years ago. New company (also an msp) is much larger but not much Fortinet. I would like to not loose those skills I learned and possibly recommend fortunate to clients. Anybody know how to get a free stack? I used to get boot camp requests at my last job but never had time.
Hello, i was doing changes in Cisco switch, located at another continent, and command "reload in 5" saved me a few times. Question: is there something similar with Fortigate's? In case F'up configuration of remote device - is there any way to roll back changes made ?
Where do you get all this great insider info from?
I would like to say I am blessed with good knowledge but really I am just surrounded by quality people around the globe that feed me the details.
is the LTS for Fortios only of other products also?
My understanding is for the Fortigate platform
6.6 is being rebranded in 7.0
That’s cool if true. My beta states 6.6 but all they gotta do is find and replace to change the name 😂
Really good news -- BUT -- I will still be waiting for v6.6.4 or some time after that before I jump ship from 6.0
I wouldn’t blame you 😂
6.6 Beta1 is already on FNDN ;-)
I am looking forward to playing with it.
Mike please... i worried about you, eat some vegetables and do more video about Fortigate!! Peace
Do you think there's any benefit to use FortiConverter when moving from Cisco ASA to FortiGate?
If you're in a hurry, yes. If you got the time this would be a great moment to learn FortiOS and even more important thing find correlation between features and naming so it will be easier to continue using it.
@@koooosta yeah, that's pretty much what I figured. Thanks!!
Nah, just port the config on your own, I've heard horror stories about FortiConverter. Plus ASA configs are simple
Forti OS 6.2.7 Install or Wait ? Thanks ! (Current: 6.2.3)
@@Traumatree Thanks !
6.2.6 has stability problems of ipsec, go to 6.2.7 it's ok.
