    For anyone wondering, as these are still available for sale in Australia.
    No, they never released the solar or sensor accessories.
    The box even says that it has that capability, but never eventuated.

    This is a great product for those wanting to say put automation on a front garden popup sprinkler system, which would have minimal restriction with its valve and 1" pipe, unlike the current BYve tap timer who is too restrictive for popups (but great for gardens)

    Next you need to come up with one that works off an rf frequency so that the you can have a transmitter with the original sprinkler timer module which operates the pump in well situations, as well as any other older pre-existing ac valves. I was looking at building a valve that utilized a rf remote relay module, some nimh batteries and a hydro turbine. I'm assuming no one has created something like this because the rf receiver would consume too much power but it seems like you could figure that out with enough thought. Let me know what you think. I have my valves connected to a cheap rf relay module from amazon and its really nice for working on the system. It makes clearing the lines or clogged sprinkler filters really easy and I don't have to mess with an app or worry about getting my phone wet.

    Did the Splinker reduce the pressure? For example if the inlet is 50 psi the outlet will change (40 psi) ?

    What is the minimum pressure to open the valves? Do they work off gravity fed water supply?

    So far I really like this unit. But I just realized you guys discontinued it. How do I go about getting the solar panel and the rain sensor for it? Or can you advise me on a way to adapt a current product to make it work on it:) Thank you

    I bought pre assembled Orbit manifolds to use with this timer. The solenoids with the manifolds have bare wire ends. How am I supposed to attached these for zoned watering without trying to solder them to the pins inside the recessed port? And how are they going to stay waterproof? I don’t see waterproof caps supplied and can’t find them available for purchase.

    • @orbitsprinklers

      Hello. As stated in the video around 1:10, these timers, being DC powered, need special DC solenoids. Our valves come with AC solenoids by default, so you would need to purchase new solenoids. You can purchase these solenoids here: store.orbitonline.com/store/products/solenoid-for-battery-operated-timer/

  • @Someothername2134
    @Someothername2134 4 года назад +1

    This doesn’t seem to work if I take the solenoid out and put it in an anti-siphon valve that came with an AC solenoid in it. Is the DC solenoid supposed to be a drop in replacement for AC orbit solenoids?

    You say when you get this you have to replace the selenoid as it is the incorrect one ? They give you an ac one ? That doesnt make sense. Arent you purchasing the correct selenoid?

    • @larrym14
      @larrym14 3 года назад

      They didn't say that. You get the correct solenoid with this purchase. If you have previously purchased another valve with the AC solenoid then you need to pay the $10 for an DC solenoid.

    On my second one now. Same issue, the display fades out so you cannot see the data. I have had a request into Orbit for ANOTHER replacement (#3) but still no replacement. I have seen the same comment from other people but apparently orbit does not see these comments. Apparently there is a moisture problem and it corrodes the internal workings. Really wanted this second one to work, but NO!! very disappointed.

    I put in the Battery Operated Sprinkler Timer model 57860 and added a second Orbit valve to use with the timer. I bought the DC solenoid, model 57861 like it says on the box to use. When I went to swap out it out in the extra valve it won't fit as they have different thread sizes. What gives with this. There are no instructions anywhere regarding what valves it will fit and which ones it will not fit. This is absurd. I have spent a lot of time putting all this in and spent extra money on this set up only to find out the instructions are garbage. Just listen to your own youtube video here. It says it will work with any of the other Orbit valves. The extra valve I bought is 57280. I expect for Orbit to send me a replacement valve that is properly sized to use with the battery operated solenoid.

      @@orbitsprinklers I have spoken to them and after about an hour on the chat I asked to have a manger put on. The manager said they would send an adapter so I could use the battery operated solenoid. Why in the world do you not put on the packaging which valves these can be used with. Or if you don't want to reprint all the packaging just add a sticker to inform consumers. It really is simple to make the corrections. Also please correct or take down this inaccurate video so others can avoid this hassle.
      One more note to all reading this. Getting in touch with Orbit is more of a hassle than getting in touch with the IRS. You will need to block out at least two hours of time.
