VelvetViolator The same here. Inside Out is still my favourite Fates Warning's album and my favourite progressive metal album either. IMO the deepest and most sophisticated work in metal genre.
From the best introduction to metal, perfect harmony between the guitar-bass and drums, but the execution studios, live loses, happy new year from Greece
But why keep him on when he clearly can't do it any more? Get a new young singer who can sing the songs instead of making the music suck and thinking no body notices. Or are they afraid to fire a border jumper for PC reasons?
@@flashyfrank5726 Because even with a low voice, he is an amazing singer.. Lots of dudes with high voices flat out suck.. Ray is good high or low. Check out Redemption Black and White World. Freaking mind blowing
@@ST-cy6we So they play games using computer enhancement in the studio then go on stage with shitty vocals instead of getting someone who can actually do it.
@@flashyfrank5726 not sure what your problem with Ray is, but hiring another singer, even if they could hit some high notes, is meaningless. Fates is Ray and Jim.. If Ray is gone, FW is gone, unless John Arch comes back
@@ST-cy6we So they rather have crappy music that would be played in supermarkets? My problem is he can't do it any more and is not even a good visual to look at any more. Fat, dumpy looking, can't sing, time to retire. Plus I hear he's a major asshole, but that's another story.
It's sad to hear a great song butchered by a constantly flat vocal performance. I love this band and I love Alder's voice on the albums, but the notes he hits here are way less than the ones he messes up.
Strange how likes work...I really find Ray doing one of his best live performances on this song here, a really strong, inspired and tastefull sing. Nevertheless we all have our likings/dislikings.
Thanks for the polite reply, I really appreciate exchanging opinions with well spoken people. Just to clarify my position, I like Alder's stage presence and energy here, but there's an undeniable problem with hitting the right notes. This is not a matter of taste, unfortunately... he's flat the most of the time ("flat" meaning he hits the notes at a lower tone than he should). No disrespect (trust me when I say this), but maybe your ear isn't picky enough to notice that. I have so many flaws (I couldn't dance to save my life, for example!) but I have a decent ear for this kind of things. I'm sure if you ask one of your friends who's a well trained musician he'll tell you the same. Peace. P.S. FW still rules! :)
+Abisso666 As I said I respect your opinion. I guarantee to you that I have perfect tone, enough years with music on my back. I don't say Ray didn't miss some tones - at the end of the day this is a live performance, we can never be sure about the quality and volume of the sound he was perceiving on the stage, but I really don't think the number of missed/flat notes here, although I don't use to count such things, is larger than in every other live of Fates Warning or whatever metal band, but here he sings with much inspiration, energy and creativity which unfortunately in some live performances of many bands are not so present.
Well, then we're on the same page, more or less. I just think the amount of missed notes is a tad too much while you consider it reasonable considering the circumstances and the overall good performance. It's a relief that, FW being not as popular as they deserve, at least they don't attract too many fanboys as well. Under videos from a different band (DT, for example), my comment would have earned me lots of flame. Thanks again for your maturity.
Abisso666 There are all types of people in the comment sections of the videos - fanboys, people having absolutely no idea of what they're talking about just trying to criticize...Nevertheless I think Ray Alder is a remarkable vocal, not many with his level.
Remarkable performance. I wish it was 1992 again...
Ray Alder in his best years, Zonder behind the kit... Good old memories.
Christian Ludwig this is my fav album by far because of those two statements
A level difficult to beat...
So right !
I became a fan with "Inside Out" in 1994 and it's still my favourite.

He sings so good!
Dudes vocals kick ass!
OMG - this is amazing!
What a voice, what a song...

great !! thanks A LOT for this !! Parallels is amazing
Great music, this band is the best, great musicians...Masterpiece!!!!!!!
Ray was incredible.. Those high notes were just like the album

motherfucking legendary... and what a legendary lineup... Aresti, DiBiase, Zonder... good lord
Awesome
