    I love how you talk to us like you’re talking to a 5 year old but without being condescending. Hahaha I’m being absolutely serious because you are one of the first....crochet tutors? crochet professor?...crochet professors I’ve come across in years that doesn’t either make me feel like an idiot, or working in such a way that I have to rewind the dang video 400 times. Or BOTH. 😶
    Plus I get so excited when you congratulate me. Even if it’s for doing nothing more than exactly what I’m supposed to be doing 😂 Gold Star! ⭐️🤍

    Dear Marly,
    I have been trying for hours and hours to start a simple crochet blanket for my sister's new baby (ok, her new kitten, but close enough) and was about to give up frustration when I came across your video. Yours is the only video I've come across that carefully explains which exact gap the double stitch is being worked into. Thanks to your video, I am now four rows into a very cute blanket! Thank you!

    I love your videos. And this beginner blanket is great. I love it. I was so glad to see you explain correctly weaving in the end tails. Most tutorials don't instruct to send the needle through the yarn fibers, but rather to go through yarn openings. Anyway I think you are a wonderful instructor, so clear -- with simple explanations. 😊

    • @sandrah11

      I had the same problem with my crochet being too tight. That's 'tension'. There are several videos on RUclips about tension. The ones by Jayda are good plus there's one by Mae(?) that teaches tension tricks and also shows you how to crochet a tension guide for your finger.

    Can I half the number of beginning stitches? I wanted to make a blanket for my kitten so it doesnt need to be full size. Could u recommend how many stitches to do as I dont wanna mess with the pattern I just want it smaller... 💕💕 (bought supplies arriving today first time crocheting in a long time since I was a kid)

    • @MarlyBird
      @MarlyBird  4 года назад

      Yes, you could do that.

      Oh no! The beginning number of stitches is 83.. how do I half that 😂
      Is it ok to do maybe 43?
      Idk.. will it work as long as its an odd number? Or does it not matter!
      I dont wanna mess this up 😩 my hooks and thread arrives in an hr!!!

    I’ve been at this crochet thing for DAAYYYYSSS.... and I haven’t been able to figure it out for anything so I gave up, but I’m sitting here nursing my 3 month old baby boy and this video was recommended to me and I’m so glad it was, you explained so clearly and so patiently That I’ve gained confidence to pick up the yarn and hook and try again. Thank you!!! Btw I’ve saved this video to my favorites and I’ve subscribed!

      Congratulations on your little bundle of joy! I'm also a beginner in crocheting & being a visual learner its difficult to find "tutorials" that actually Explain & Show each step:

    Can I just say, this is the BEST video for a newbie! I've watched quite a few videos already and wasted a lot of practice yarn on complicated patterns for beginners... I wish I had started with this one! My practice run came out so good, I turned it into a scarf for my daughter! Now I will make throw blankets with confidence for her and my new niece coming in January!

    I’ve been following along to do my first ever blanket but my left index finger is cramping up, I’m having trouble with this. Am I holding the yarn wrong, how do you suggest holding the yarn to prevent cramping! :(

    • @MarlyBird
      @MarlyBird  4 года назад

      The cramping could be cause from holding the yarn too tightly. You could try a different hold like weaving the yarn through all your fingers for tension. As a new crocheter it’s best to play around with all types of holds to find the one that works for you best.

    Thank you for this video! currently trying to figure out how to make a new, cozy blanket for my little sister (I’m 18 and she’s 16). I promised I’d make her one once I got good enough at crocheting but now she’s sick and I haven’t had much time to practice crocheting because of my college work. She recently got covid and has pneumonia on top of that, so I wanna try and cheer her up. I have of course been avoiding in person contact to protect myself and my partner and everything, but I want to give her something because I obviously love my sister. I practiced this with an old ball of yarn I have from my mom, and it seems fairly simple. I’ve practically mastered making coasters with double crochets too so I figured a blanket with double crochets should be nothing :D Now all I have to do is pick up some yarn in some of her favorite colors.

    What a wonderful tutorial! Your instructions are so clear and you are so friendly! LOL I can't wait to give this a shot. Having made a billion scarves for Christmas presents this year, crocheting a throw is my New Year's resolution for 2021. Here we go! Thanks so much for the wonderful tutorial.

    Thanks for the tutorial, this was my first experience crocheting. Do you need to do the border to finish it off? I watched the video and paused it as I was going along, should have watched the whole thing first. I used three colours and made a pattern. I don't know if I want a solid colour going all the way along, are there any other options to complete it?

    • @MarlyBird
      @MarlyBird  4 года назад

      congrats Christine! You don't need to add a border on this blanket. if you want to add a border then you can simply crochet around the blanket with double crochets or single crochets as evenly as possible.

    Hi! So I’m confused about doing the gauge... could you help me with that. I get the 15 dc part. But then the 13 rows... is that 13 rows of simply dcs? Or do you just start doing the pattern from the beginning until you have 13 rows?
    Thanks!
    P.S. Your tutorial is amazing. I actually feel able to learn how to crochet for real this time. Such a great teacher! ❤️
