The element logo is so genius. Its my favorite one for sure. The bottom half circle represents the ground. The top half divided into four representing the atmosphere. The whole circle is the seed being planted and nurtured and the tree grows from it in the center. Such an awesome design.
i think the top half dashed in four were to represent the four elements
As a little kid I noticed that the tree makes the letters element

I didnt count stuff like wet willy or flameboy
You’re a legend 🙏
Thanks very much
Alva?????
I use to love the Enjoi logo and there boards. Every other company would try to make these big all over print decks and enjoi would keep it simply with a medium size panda logo right under/near the trucks. The simply look was clean!
I liked the one where the panda pooped and he’s looking back at his turd almost ashamed. Always made me laugh
@@dollazNzentz i liked the one where it was the two pandas fucking 💀
@FoxesAreKool i remember way back when, enjoi had a logo where it was two pandas humping, very surprisingly that graphic made it on skate 3
More a fan of graphics that aren’t just the company Logo, like the Rob Roskopp graphic or the Hosoi Hammerhead. But you can like what you want
same
There is so many iconic logos....I really like the krooked eyes very simple logo but sick!
Same. I like the shmoo, bird characters and flower patterns too.
I always like simple logos and graphics.
be honest, did you ever see a skateboard in the krooked eyes logo?
@@Amersian just went and fliped over my new krooked eyes deck to see it with my own eyes (pun intended)
@@jimizxztheorginal i truly think most people miss it, still not sure if its intentional, but knowing the gonz, its gotta be right!?
Flameboy vs Wet Willy is so nostalgic to me, I remember one of my brothers showing me the World Industries or Flameboy vs Wet Willy site back then. I'm bummed out that my parents didn't want me skating WITH my brothers. At least THPS was hella fun.
This video is great, thank you for not counting up or down and getting straight into it, and no music was a nice decision as well. Super entertaining learning about these logos with just the right amount of info for each.
Glad you enjoyed! 🙏 We're new to the RUclips game and still learning how to make videos work! Thanks for watching!
These videos bring back a lot of nostalgia. The Dogtown logo stands out to me, but in a weird way. It was popular around where I grew up because a local skate shop used a slightly altered version for their logo: Hogtown. Hogtown was an old nickname for Toronto as it was once known for all the pork processing back in the 1920s. Hogtown was definitely the place to go for skaters in the 80s/90s.
That’s rad! I’ve never skated TO but it’s on my list! Our manager is from just outside Toronto (Port Perry). Always talking about a trip out that way, lots of great looking parks out there.
Had fun drawing most these logos but I’m most proud of the original Toy Machine logo I made by cutting and soldering metal in my 3D Art class. Kids did that then. Also, thanks “Cease and Desist” for all the influences on logos. That guy serves and deserves credit.
Lol yeah I also did something similar in my shop class. An I’m pretty sure kids still do that shit in shop class
That Blind logo story is a genius by Gonz. Dang.
Have been around skating for 30+ years, I always Judge quality of art by what people outside of that art circle think, I will never forget seeing average people put Powell stickers on car windows just because they liked the art- It said a lot about how Powell got it right, now every Honda bundy has a thrasher t-shirt and scooter kids all have santa cruz socks
I'm disappointed to not find anyone in the comments talking up osiris. As someone who never skated the one thing that made me want to try were those amazing osiris shoes. I still think a stuffed pair of osiris shoes is one of the coolest things to come from the skateboarding world.
@@marvelousstanley1239 I worked in Skate during this time, you Do make a very fair point. I was legit in a skate store yesterday and they had a row of Osiris D3's in the most insane colourways.
I always loved the Powell logo. It is my favorite and I think all around the most catchy. The wings with the ripper coming out, one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen.
Zero single skull probably the best, I’d like to see an episode about board technologies such as element helium boards and why these brands discontinued them ❤️🛹
That's a great idea!
@@ShredzShop You got it wrong on the Zero logo, Jamie ripped it from the Toy Story movie in 1995. Jamie also got the name and logo for Mystery from the 1999 movie Detroit Rock City
I still have a helium element board, why were they discontinued???
I had one years ago and I obliterated it doing a Rick flip down a drop. Wasn’t satisfied obviously with it but curious on why these technologies were discontinued ❤️🛹
Flight decks and slicks and shit I'd watch that too
Your videos are always so cool and entertaining Levi , I dig them so bad and look forward to watching the next one
Much appreciated! 🙏🙏
me too here from germany, great videos everytime and conclusive.
5:05 Élément logo need a little bit more explaination.
The 4 éléments are represented.
-Tree: Earth
-Full circle: Fire
-Bottom half circle: Water
-Top 4 lines: Wind
Maybe everyone know this and I am stupid to explain that
I do not skate anymore but grew up with skateboarding culture since the early 90's, I love this channel, very nostalgic
Thanks for watching 🙏
Very concise yet informative for all the logos without rambling too long, really enjoyed it :)
I actually just met some guys from the Toy Machine and Foundation skate teams a few weeks ago at a demo they did
Skateboarding has impacted my life so much that about 4 years ago I started my own skateboard company called Galaxy Skateboards and am pleased to say that I have the honor of doing that full time now too
That's amazing! Running a skate brand full time is a ton of work and an amazing goal to accomplish. 🙏 👏
I remember being in middle school & playing around with the fonts in Microsoft word. I was so geeked up when I found the Thrasher font lmaooo good times
Love this no nonsense approach. Good video!
Glad you liked it!
So informative. I was curious for a long time about some logos, but now I got my answers.
Glad you enjoyed!!
This was fun! The OG DC logo was awesome. I always thought the Shortys logo was inspired by Bazooka gum. You missed a chance to chirp Zumies. Sears started in Chicago?
I love the morphium skateboards poppy design,it's a pretty small german brand located close to me,but my first "good" deck was a morphium and no matter what i ride,i always find myself coming back to them
I used to cut all the tabs on my t-shirts with all the awesome skateboard logos and then sew them on my back pack, I remember getting a lot of compliments back then. I loved Blind's logo the most!
The Element logo is genius in my opinion, because it's so easy to recreate. I can't tell you how many times I drew or spray painted that logo growing up.
The Real oval is taken from the 49ers. They wanted to give the brand a connection to their city. Look at the Tommy Guerrero oval, one of their first graphics, and TG is arranged the same as SF.
Man This Is a Really Good Video,Thank You Levi
As an artist, designer and skater myself Spitfire's logo is always my favorite. After knowing the story I love it more. ❤❤🔥🔥
Couldn't agree more! 🙏
Spitfire or die
I honestly never would've guessed the girl one, thanks for telling us that!
The more you know!! 👊
Skull Skates!! Bought my first board from them in the 80’s. Still wearing their gear today.
👊👊
Watch the movie The Burbs with the founder Rick Ducommun of Skull Skates. I had no idea but a kid is wearing a Skull Skates shirt and until just looking it up I had no idea that the founder of Skull Skates was a famous actor and in the movie.
Yep. Skull Skates. PD's a legend.
awesome...i loved the H-street cross arrows thingy...shame it was missed out of your vid...
I tried to get that shaved into the back of my head in grade 8, but the barber botched it completely so I had to shave that part of my head bald
AWESOME STUFF!!!! New sub! I guess I'm an old school skater, as it was life during the eighties thru about 99! THOROUGHLY enjoy this content! As for logo favs,..... wow so many, Powell for sure, Santa Cruz, Airwalk, alien workshop, vision etc... I wish I could find an old pair of my vision parachute pants!!!! Miss those days! Thank you for sharing this insanely interesting content! OMFG how could I almost forget the iconic thrasher logo!
Thanks John!! Glad you enjoy and it helps with the nostalgia!!
Indy & Anti Hero have the best logos in my opinion! The Cross for Indy and particularly for AH the Eagle always screamed ‘heavy biker gang’ which is always cool.
Jimbo Phillips is one of my biggest heroes, I owe at least half my art career to him
You guys forgot to state the obvious, the 'b' in the Birdhouse logo is the Powell Peralta 'P' inverted.
I was thinking the same.
I’m currently going to school for graphic design so I love this
I was talking to Brian Sumner a while back about ADIO shoes and he was telling me how Jamie Thomas designed the ADIO logo while they were hanging out in a garage. Man, I miss ADIO shoes :(
Damn, that’s a sick tidbit!!!
@Adio 882 i skated in Adios from 2004 till 2011. When it became almost impossible to find i would buy a size bigger or a size smaller, (whatever the shops had left) just so i could keep skating in them. Then when they were completely gone, i had to try and find a replacement.. but no other shoe will ever feel as great as Adio. i think the closest ones to Adio that I've skated in are the ES Accel OG and ES Cessna.. Probably just ES in general but i doubt any other shoe will ever feel as great as ADIO. indeed something special about those shoes that makes you love them
They're all **iconic** ! For me the Screaming hand just screams to me every time! Every time I see a Screaming Hand shirt at a thrift store it becomes mine. And World Industries just makes me so nostalgic for getting my CCS in the mail with no intention to purchase anything but just to drool over the cool boards, shoes and art :) Heck they're all so nostalgic
you should talk about the Thunder trucks logo. i recently learned that it was created by Jef Whitehead, who is the one man black metal band, Leviathan. he also used to be a pro skateboarder and made the logo and Thunder bought it from him for dollars. he has the logo tattooed on his chest. pretty interesting.
You’re doing god’s work Levi.
Glad you enjoyed the vid! 🙏
What is your favourite skate brand logo of all time & why?! Also, what brand should we do a video on next?!
Shredz all day thanks to sk8rbois like Levi and the homiez! You should do one on yourself. I'm sure it isn't narcissistic.
@@later_skateboards haha people ask. We always said we'll do one when we hit 50K subscribers...
If that doesn't work, do one on ipath, and satori, and habitat, and alien workshop. Or bakerboys, and bootleg and deathwish, and piss drunx. Or krooked, girl, chocolate. Or just, like, cliqueiness in skating. Or maybe do consolidated skateboards. And their take on the Olympics. I hear they love them.
RIP zane timpson. Just do a 24 hour loop of him shredding the gnar.
14 things you didn't know about popwar.
14 things you didn't know about Hollywood skateboards.
14 skateboard brands kids today don't even remember.
14 pairs of savier shoes.
god the nostalgia is real rn.. had skate stickers covering everything growin up lol
This is a great one!
Super quick and interesting thanks
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed! 🙏🙌
This was a really well put together video, for real
I really like these videos in the same way I loved the ON Videos because they are informative.
Definitely inspired by the old On Videos! We’re a much smaller operation though haha
Great video Levi! Very informative
🙏 🙏 Glad you enjoyed!!
I really like the Emerica logo too. It looks like a mountain with snow on top, but an E when turned on its side. Pretty cool one.
Always liked the H-street logo and new deals spray can 14 things you didnt know about Levi episode
Fabulous vids always...you guys rock 🤘
They're a ton of work! Glad you enjoy them!! 🙏 👊
@@ShredzShop I can only imagine the workload ! No other chanel gives the depth and accuracy of info....not even close ⚡⚡🤘⚡⚡
New Subscriber! Bless your heart! this is awesome. you are talking about all the brands I grew up with and its so cool! never knew all there fun facts. one of my new fav channels. please keep going!
All the back stories to these are cool
Gotta make a part 2 with all the brands that didn't make it on the list like Plan B, Hook-Ups, Creature, Darkstar, DGK, Almost, Finesse, Primitive, Mini Logo, etc. Still so many to go through!
shorties
awesome video. thanks for the knowledge
🙏glad you enjoyed!
this was sooo awesome . .really like logo's now even them history! do more clever vids m8!
Wow, really good video and interesting topic. Thanks for all the time and research that you put into this.!
Glad you enjoyed it!🙏
the krooked designed and the first toy machine design are just masterpieces
Agreed 🤝
That Tony Hawk logo and Mike McGill logo really impacted me as a kid skater. Even the Caballero and Lance mountain. All the Powell logos were intriguing as a kid
I loved the Caballero robot or knight armor looking logo and wanted the t-shirt but for some reason never bought one.
as a graphic designer and skater this video is very interesting ... good job
my favorite is the airwalk ollie logo
Rad! Glad you enjoyed! 🙌🙏
Damn. I miss that anti hero pigeon. And I loved learning that all timers went with the sears logo.
really cool video. i always loved history.
Dude super ultra mega fire video. I love it
I loved World Industries artworks, especially on the tshirts :' (
Thanks Levi! Love the art & artists!
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed!
This was badass!
Thank you!! 🙌🙏 Hyped you enjoyed!
Makes me very happy that Andy Anderson is repping Skull Skates and that Powell and Skull "share" him. Good to see some camaraderie between two legendary brands. Someone really should do a documentary about PD. (and Rick)
This is really great history on these
Bro Powell peralta and bones brigade will forever hold a special place in my heart and it’s not even from my era
Great content bro 🙏
Glad you enjoy the vids! 🙌🙏
What about a 14 things you didn't know about NEIL BLENDER? and some other super important people in skateboarding.
That would be rad!
Neil would be awesome and so would GSD. Never see either of them doing any interviews.
Loved this one !!
Yo! Thanks Caleb!!
great video🎉
Blind, World Industries, and Toy Machine were my go-to skating decks growing up. God i miss the good ole days!
When I was a kid it was either Vision Santa Cruz or Bones. Peralta was the winner. Had a cohesive team feel across all decks.
ABSOLUTELY! !!!!! Amen!
Personally I thought Alva did the same thing across all their boards but were way more cool (and better quality) than the Bones Brigade. (Remember Bonite! lol..that nearly destroyed Powell). But yeah....there is no doubt that Powell were the biggest company. Their neon designs and somewhat cartoonish look had the widest appeal.
I never recognized that Etnies uses Bauhouse type, but have noticed its use in the Birdhouse logo.
Blind is my favorite
As a graphic designer, this is inspirational to know the history behind the graphics and logos.
Fun fact Nike tried to make skateboarding illegal back in the day .now I see all the skaters wearing Nike SB
To me,nike and skateboarding do not belong in the same sentence. Nike will never be skateboarding to me. In my opinion far to prissy mainstream and just not the tru essence of skate culture to me. Save nike for tennis fux and such. To me it just doesn't belong in the skate world.
@@johnagen3688 Yup! 100% if anyone showed up to the park in like 99 wearin them👀, they rockin the kmart board too and only thought skateboards wher a form of transportation
@@johnagen3688 It's true that skateboarding has had a great history of supporting local and up and coming brands and I do like the side of it your talking about. I agree in the sense I would never buy any Nike gear.
But there is one positive to them gaining some traction in the industry and that's a whole lot of skaters now have gotten a whole lot more exposure and I'm sure in many cases it's allowed guys and gals who are wicked skaters to be able to have a career that IS skateboarding and not working a 9-5 to support their skateboarding.
If the big brands allow more skaters to make a living skating then I'll look the other way. It's worth it.
Good vid
Now I miss my old skate shop. Love ya gang
Man damn I didn’t know you guys have a shop in Cochrane! I have family there. Next time I go I’ll have to stop by!
It’s the last brick and mortar shredz standing. Check it out, it’s a dope shop!
11:12 the Toy Machine logo is actually derived from Zuni/Hopi pictograph of the Katcina warrior "Sayathlia" found in New Mexico.
What a great video, ive always loved the element logo.
I read years and years ago that the Volcom logo came from a Geology Textbook but I never took it for an upside down diamond, I thought it was a ventifact - a desert stone shaped by the sandblasting of wind in a consistent direction creating a smooth triangular profile in the direction the wind is coming from and a steeper smaller triangle on it's other side as the sandy wind is going more slowly.
DC is just Cease & Desist backwards
Getting C&D’d over a star shape is probably the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard in my life from now on.
Wow I never realized the Alltimers logo was based off the Sears logo but I guess it makes sense bc I haven't seen a Sears logo in over a decade LOL. Always thought it looked familiar. Incredibly nostalgic for canadians old enough to remember.
Can you make a video of 14 things you didn’t know about Fa/Hockey
Love this page!
🙏 🙏 🙏
The KR3W logo and Element logo were my favorite to draw everywhere when I was a kid
awesome video thank u
Glad you liked it!
Nice. Well done. My fav will always be Blender and Roskopp, Mostly because I skated both with some OJII's. Learn to turn.
Kevin Ancell and Natas designed the original Natas Kaupas Panther graphic Santa Monica Airlines. Then a completely remake by Jim Phillips in 1987. The inspiration was a 1972 oil painting from Frank Frazetta.
Dogtown, Wes Humpston the O.G. of graphics since the 70s. Legends.
Another killer video! 👊🔥🤘
Alien Workshop was/is my favorite SB brand. I rode them for years exclusively.
Me too!
You forgot to mention the story behind the SHREDZ SHOP logo!!!. I'd like something about cliche skateboards.
Both great ideas! 🙏
NICE!!!!! 🍻🍻
Payter kaayo 🤘🤘🤘
Sears was an American company by the way. Once the largest company in the world.
Love the videos
One thing I found out about shake junt is that most folks in the south refer to the strip clubs as a “shake joint” when talking in slang with southern accent it sounds like shake junt!!
Dope video, I'm such a nerd for this topic
Hard to choose, but my favorite logo has gotta be the Pig wheels logo. I had that shirt and rocked it so much.
Toy Machine is second best
thanks for sharing.. great video
Glad you enjoyed!! 🙌🙏
Please do 14 Things You Didn't Know About Orion Trucks. (90's truck company with Penny, Koston, Dyrdek, Kareem)
I think they made a come back recently? Or tried
I always thought it was funny seeing the Bones Reds logo in that movie Red Dragon. That explains it, he took it from that directly.
