    I built an "Aquarium" base once that was a massive number of interconnected multipurpose rooms with alien containment chambers. I managed to put most of the species from Subnautica into them, pairing relevant species and plants as best I could. That was BEFORE the large rooms were moved over from Below Zero. Your video has inspired me. I MUST correct my mistake!

      @@morgan4574 it's super sad because the Dunes biome is, to me, the prettiest of any part of the game ESPECIALLY at night. I love this! It’s giving me Deep Blue Sea vibes as well as the The Meg. It has the potential of a thriller novel describing the events of a research team that attempted to control the ecosystem around the dunes in order to study leviathan activity further. I was thinking about the possibilities while I was watching. I’m gonna list out a few under this comment.

    • @gearscrap7751
      @gearscrap7751 2 года назад +2

      In my head as I was watching this I was trying to setup a story as to why there is a lab here. After Ryley gets back to Altera and they send research teams to evaluate the planet and it’s potential, a salvage reclamation team in the dunes is ambushed by a pair of sea dragons. Altera research management decides to wait them out in order to collect the remaining scrap. It takes a few cycles, but eventually the sea dragons return to their territory. Some cycles later, they find most of the tagged reapers’ trackers in that zone had gone static. So they send a team to investigate and once again are ambushed by two sea dragons. By this point management has had enough and allocates a team of researchers to set up shop in a steam vent crater in order to study these leviathans. Their main goal is to determine why they come to these spots for extended periods of time, why they are able to evade infrared scanners, and why the bioscanners didn’t have this data in the initial pda’s. The only way the base has gone undetected thus far is due to a prototype retro reflective field and a sonar scrambling device to throw off the reapers. Once this data had been studied, Altera management decided to test their ability to alter the ecosystem in that region. The research facility grew to accommodate breeding chambers. These bred many species that reapers found enticing, thus emboldening them to stay within sea dragon territory. This was to see if the dragons would stay for better hunting grounds. If Altera could successfully control the environment in such a way, then they might begin using sea dragons as an export of goods back to the core worlds. The possibility of genetic testing on the edges of researcher minds. THIS is what would make a great setup to a Subnautica thriller, with themes of the arrogance of man and and the unshackle-able will of nature. I would love to hear thoughts and suggestions for this scenario! Please share below.

    i love the desine with the base being located it a small crater and suported by the central stone pillar! The only thing that doesn't make much sence is why there are just 5 people in such a big base, especially since you have such a compact cabin desingh i don't uderstand why you couldn't just put another 5 on the other side of the corridor, but that's just a nitpick

    • @hamy9440

      I thought the small cabin size for each crew member was a neat idea! And definitely something Altera would do. lol

    This is so Awesome dude!! So well built, and it looks super professional too. Lmao that moment when you saw the sand sharks killed all the spadefish xD. Have you though about uploading your save files containing your bases onto nexus mods? I'm sure people would love to be able to play the game with them, I know I would :)

    Oh no now I’m having in-universe questions and ideas-
    “Don’t you worry that the bright lights around the facility would attract the leviathan’s attention?”
    “Going off my previous question: How do you deal with attacks?”
    “What purpose do the aquariums containing predatory lifeforms serve?”
    “With everything that’s happening at once, wouldn’t you need more than five crew members to properly observe and document everything?”
    “I see no food farms - do you have to venture out beyond the dunes in order to get lunch?”
    Out-of-universe - this is honestly incredible! And a great premise for a horror movie; the constant roars of the reapers and the sea dragons create quite the unsettling atmosphere.

    • @hamy9440
      @hamy9440  Год назад +2

      It's true there are a lot of in-universe plot holes that I didn't think of at the time. These are all valid points and I'll probably take most of these into consideration if I do make another base like this one. Good comment.

    Genius idea to build an Umbrella base on a geothermal spring and breed predators from other biomes.
    "The Riley Robinson Foundation - saving the planet from extinction together."
    The ambient background music of the dunes scared the crap out of me, especially when in total darkness I came across the wreckage of the Aurora near a dead zone with a roaring reaper.
    Yeah, they should give out a Dragon Slayer Achievement for eliminating dragons.
